Sweet Joon (1/1)
Joon was leaning against the railings, waving his hands forcefully towards the spinning horses. Who was he waving to? Oh, it was Jihye, his sister. Aww, what a sweet guy, accompanying his eight-year-old sister to the carnival. He was good looking with greater heart. Now tell me, who wouldn’t fall for a guy like this? I was melting at his sight, and without my realising, a smile was formed on my lips. Lee Joon was the kind of student that excelled at everything that he did. I really meant everything. He was a straight A’s student, he was in the students’ body council, and he was great in sports. He was in the popular crowd, but he was good to literally everyone in school. He loved to laugh, and his laughter was contagious. Joon’s class was right beside mine, and I could hear his hearty laughter slipping through the wall every time, as he usually sat at the back of the class with his four best friends. Joon was the eldest of two, and he treated his sister like a princess. How did I know this? I knew because our fathers worked for the same company, and every year for the past ten years, the employees of that company would gather together with their families for a minimum of one night stay at a chosen resort, for their Family Day. My father would always bring my mom and me together, and I had no complain at all, because it was my only chance to communicate with Joon outside school. And during those two days and one night, we would do everything together, like best friends, with Jihye in our hands, of course. “Hani unni! What are you doing here sitting alone? Don’t you have friends to play with?”I didn’t realise that Jihye was standing in front of me, holding a big, fluffy, pink cotton candy. Wait, if Jihye was here, that means Joon was...“Hey, are you alone?”He was right beside me, smiling, and he was holding another big, fluffy, pink cotton candy.“Oh, hi! I didn’t realise you guys. Sorry!”I picked up Jihye, and placed her on my lap.“You were too deep in thought. Again, are you alone? We are going home, I can drop you off, if you want to.”He placed himself beside me, and his I could feel his warmth through our touching arms. “Thank you for the offer, but I actually came with Chaerin and Minji. I was waiting for them, as I somehow grew tired of the games. You should go home, I guess. It’s late, so Jihye should go to bed, shouldn’t you, Jihye?”Jihye just nod at my question, she was busy munching her cotton candy.“Wait, did you buy her the cotton candy? Right before sleep? She’s going to have trouble going to sleep then!”“Nah, it’s okay. I could read her a story, if she finds it hard to close her eyes.”Wasn’t he the sweetest?“So, I’ll make a move, I guess. Don’t stay out too long, your mom would get worried.”And he was a sweet friend, too.“Haha! Jeez, you’re not my brother, Joon, so don’t nag. Drive carefully!”He laughed with me, took Jihye in his arms, and before he left, he handed me his cotton candy.“For you, to kill the time.”And he walked away, leaving me grinning like an idiot.
