The Spring Carnival (1/1)
It was spring, and the Spring Carnival was in town again. I went with my friends, Chaerin and Minji. The carnival as always was blasting with loud music and crowded with families, couples and acquaintances, enjoying themselves with the food and games. We had a wonderful time, even though it was our third time here. We went on rides, played the arcades, stuffed ourselves with those overly sugary and greasy carnival food, and we couldn’t stop ourselves from giggling all night long. I had enough, so I let those two rugrats played on their own, while I chose a bench to sit on, sipping some lemonade, while waiting for them. I looked around, and I could see how wonderful the carnival really was. The carnival was bright with the spotlights and neon lights, so I guess nobody could tell that it was already passed 10 pm. My curfew was at 11, so I had an hour before my mom would call me, yelling “Where are you? Why aren’t you home yet?”, every five minutes until I was safely home. I could see that almost everybody was having a great time, with the exception of the fortune teller lady who rarely smiled, so I couldn’t tell whether she was in a good mood, or the opposite. Overall, it was a joyous night for everyone here. I searched around, trying to identify anybody from school. Ah, there was Jess with her sister Krystal, queuing for the roller coaster, and over there were best friends Jiyong and Youngbae, trying their luck at shooting the duck. Give up guys, nobody ever succeeded on getting the grand price. Oh, I guess Jiyong did a good job, he won the palm sized teddy bear. I wonder if he going to give it to anyone. I’ll ask him tomorrow, I guessed. And then I saw Lee Joon, the school basketball team captain, at the Merry-Go-Round, alone.
