Gone (1/1)
“Hell no, I’m not wearing that dress,” Yoona yelled. Yoona looked at the dress that Seunghyun was holding up. It was an abomination! It was ruffled with a million layers and it was peach colored. She made a disgusted expression. Seunghyun claimed that it was the newest addition to the maternity line for Vera Wang. Yoona snorted and crossed her arms. She was not going to wear it no matter what. “It’s your baby shower today! You need to look fancy!” Seunghyun reasoned. “I’m already big enough! That dress would make me look like a Halloween pumpkin or a giant salmon. I’m glad that you planned this surprise baby shower for me and everything, but there is no way in hell I am going to wear that ugly thing,” Yoona was reluctant. “Just wear it! I already bought it! It was $1,200 for goodness sakes!” Seunghyun begged. “Why the hell would you spend $1,200 on a stupid dress?! You want me to kill you? It should be illegal for you to walk into a designer store for women! You picked the ugliest thing there!” Yoona yelled. Yoona’s temper had gotten shorter towards Seunghyun ever since her pregnancy. She shook her head as Seunghyun gave up and gave the dress back to the maid to put in the closet. The maid soon left. Seunghyun approached her and smiled. The baby was growing even bigger and he just couldn’t wait to meet his daughter. He sat down next to Yoona and rested his head on her shoulder. He then began to rub her swollen belly. Yoona could smell his cologne. He smelled magnificent. They were both surprised to see Taeyang and Yuri burst into the door. “Oh, sorry; did we just ruin a moment?” Taeyang teased with a smile. “Well, we just wanted to say that I bought Yoona dress. I saw what Seunghyun picked and it was horrible so I bought a new one. It was only $200. I found it in a clearance sale that was in Chanel,” Yuri boasted. Yoona pushed Seunghyun’s head aside as she got up and looked at the dress. It was beautiful. She heard Seunghyun complaining, but she really didn’t care. She looked at the dress and saw that it was a light shade of blue. Of course it was in the maternity section. She quickly went into the restroom and changed. She soon left the bathroom and exited while showing off the dress. It didn’t make her look fat. It just made her look pregnant. Yoona smiled brightly as she twirled slowly. “It’s perfect,” Seunghyun nodded. The baby shower had already started when Seunghyun felt his phone vibrate in the pocket of his pants. He reached in his pocket and looked at the caller id. It was Hara. He quickly rejected the call and turned his phone off. He then saw Yoona smile as she led one of her friends to Seunghyun. The woman was beautiful. She had a warming smile and beautiful eyes. She was even holding a baby. “Seunghyun, this is Jessica’s sister, Tiffany. She’s married to Wooyoung from the electronics company and she already has a daughter!” Yoona smiled. Seunghyun introduced himself and shook her hand. Tiffany looked alert as she concluded that her baby needed a diaper change. Yoona pointed at where the nearest bathroom was. Jessica and Jaebeom then walked in together. “Hey Yoona, by chance, have you seen my sister?” Jessica asked. “Yeah, she went into the restroom just a second ago to change little Anna’s diaper,” Yoona informed her. Yoona looked happy. It was her baby shower and only her closest friends were there. There were no reporters, no business associates, and no strangers. Yoona saw that Seunghyun was standing next to her. “Thanks for the baby shower. This is great. How did you know that I only wanted my closest friends coming?” Yoona asked. “I think I know you well enough,” Seunghyun smirked at her. Yoona was showered with many gifts. They gave her baby clothes, pacifiers, etc, but it only wasn’t normal. Who would have ever known that there was Dolce and Gabbana pacifiers? All of the gifts were name brands. Yoona looked at the garden party. It was just delightful. She could hear birds chirping, the water splashing against the fountains, and the small talks between her closest friends and family. She saw Seunghyun helping Taeyeon and Leeteuk on the golf cart. Yoona saw one last gift and saw that it was in a quite big box. She read the tag as everyone huddled around her to see what the gift was. “That’s odd. It just says “Yoona” on it. I wonder who’s it from,” Yoona said as she untied the ribbon around the box. Yoona shrieked to see a horrible sight. Inside the box was a bloody pig fetus. She quickly dropped the box as the bloody unborn pig rolled out of the box. Goosebumps quickly emerged on Yoona’s skin. She screamed once more to see that Hara had crashed the party. She walked in through the gate with a gun in her hand. Seunghyun quickly stood up and tried to run to her to stop her. “Don’t even take another step, Choi Seunghyun!” she ordered as she pointed the gun at Seunghyun. Seunghyun put his hands up as the guests began to panic. “You’re not supposed to throw her a baby shower! I thought you didn’t love her! You lied to me! You said that I was the only girl for you!” Hara yelled. “Hara, calm down; put the gun down and let’s talk about this. For one thing, I never said that you were the only girl for me,” Seunghyun gently whispered. “No, I’m not putting this gun down. I gave you a last chance and I called you today! You ignored my call for this woman!” Hara shouted. “Violence isn’t going to solve this issue. Put the gun down,” Seunghyun repeated. Hara looked at Yoona from the corner of her eye. She began to laugh hysterically as she changed the direction of the gun from Seunghyun to Yoona. “No, stop! Put the gun facing me, not her! I’m the one that’s the bad one, remember?!” Seunghyun shouted. “If I shoot you, you’re going to get hurt, but if I shoot her, it’s going to hurt you even more,” Hara said. “Please, don’t do it!” Seunghyun started to cry. Yoona looked amazed. She didn’t know what to do. The gun was faced to her and she saw Seunghyun crying at the thought of her being shot. He must be crying for the baby. Yoona wanted to cry, but she just didn’t want to show weakness towards Hara. “You never cried for me. I know you’re crying for this woman,” Hara started to tear. “He’s not crying for me! He’s crying for the baby!” Yoona interjected. Seunghyun’s eyes grew wide as Hara pulled the trigger. Yoona quickly fell. Leeteuk, Heechul, and Eunhyuk angrily knocked the gun out of her hands as they pushed her down to the floor. Seunghyun ran over to Yoona as Yoona’s eyes began to close. He saw that the bullet wound went straight to her stomach. “If it’s true that he only cares about the baby, then ok! I’ll kill both Yoona and the baby!” Hara screamed as Taeyeon angrily approached the huddled brothers and slapped Hara in the face to shut her up. Everyone was in tears, but not as much as Seunghyun. He carried Yoona to his red Lamborghini. He never thought that he would ever stain that car, but he just didn’t give a damn about the car anymore. He wanted to save his wife and daughter. There was blood everywhere. Seunghyun was driving the fastest he ever had to the nearest hospital. He saw Yoona in the front seat trying her best to keep her eyes open. Seunghyun had blood on his shirt, his pants, and his hands. He couldn’t believe it was her blood. One hour later… Seunghyun had finally stopped his tears. He knew that his tears couldn’t change if the baby and Yoona were going to be okay or not. He just couldn’t do anything but wait for the results. All he could do was wait for the doctor to tell him how Yoona and his daughter were. He looked at Yuri trying to comfort him, but it didn’t work. Nothing could comfort him now. No one could feel the pain that he was feeling at the possibility of losing his wife and daughter. He would be a lonely man again. He remembered the first time he met her. He was buzzed, and he began drinking more and more with her. He was surprised that he could even drive from his drunkenness. There were hundreds of girls in that club that night, but she was the only one that really stood out to him. She was just so beautiful. She was smiling and her smile was just so alluring to him. He had to admit to himself long ago that he secretly wished that he remembered how the sex was. If she ever knew, she would have thought he was a pervert, but he was a guy. Guys wonder about these things. He wanted to remember how he caressed her body and how he kissed her. He wanted to remember their first time together. He remembered when Leeteuk came barging into his house angrily claiming that he had gotten his sister pregnant. The first thing that Seunghyun could think of was that there was no way that they were siblings. Leeteuk looked nothing like Yoona, but Seunghyun later learned that Leeteuk took after his father’s genes and Yoona took after her mother’s. He even saw it one of their family portraits. Seunghyun remembered that he was kind of surprised to hear that she was pregnant. He wasn’t even sure if it was his baby, but now, he wouldn’t give a damn if it was his. He loves Yoona. He wanted to be with her. He began to feel horrible for all the times when Yoona tried to make an effort to make the marriage work. He remembered ignoring her so that he could be with Hara. He remembered not going home when she prepared a traditional Korean meal. He remembered all the text messages from Jiyoung and Yuri begging him to come home so Yoona wouldn’t be hurt or offended, but he didn’t care. His selfish self only wanted to be with Hara. All these memories were good and bad. It was a good thing that Yoona had met him, but he felt that he wasn’t something good that happened to her. Her life was perfect until he came along. He just felt so guilty for ruining her life. Seunghyun stood up quickly to see a doctor that operated Yoona approach him. The next day… Yoona woke up in a hospital bed. She felt pain in her abdomen and it was so sharp and sudden that she winced from the pain. The first person that she saw was Seunghyun. He was resting his head at the side of the bed. He was probably sleeping. Yoona tried to get up, but it hurt too much. The pain was just excruciating. She ran her fingers through all the IV cords that were for her body. She began to wonder what happened. Her heart began to race as she ran her hand through her stomach. It was flat. The big bump that she had been growing for seven months was gone! “Seunghyun,” Yoona whispered. Seunghyun slowly got up from his position and looked at Yoona. Yoona saw that his eyes were puffy and big. It looked like he was crying the whole day. Yoona looked at him with curiosity and confusion. Why in the world was he crying? He was a business corporate for goodness sake! They’re not supposed to cry and look weak. They’re supposed to look strong, mighty, and powerful. Seunghyun then stood straight up and kissed Yoona. Yoona was kind of shocked by his actions. She looked at him with bewilderment as he pulled away from her. He then held her hand and held it against his face. “What happened to our baby?” Yoona asked. Seunghyun didn’t respond. He was just quiet the whole time. Yoona couldn’t hear anything. She couldn’t even hear him breathing. He just started sobbing again. His cries were kind of quiet. “Seunghyun stop joking about it!” Yoona tried to laugh, “Where’s our baby? Is she premature? It’s okay if she’s premature! She’ll grow; she may be only seven months, but it’s okay. She’ll be healthy.” “She’s gone,” Seunghyun finally answered. Yoona began to cry loudly as those words came out of his mouth. Seunghyun hugged her as she began to cry even louder. She just could not believe that her daughter was gone. She was excited to see her, too. Part of her was angry, but part of her just wanted to believe that this whole thing was a nightmare. Yoona’s sobbing was uncontrollable. She just couldn’t get over the fact that the baby was dead. A doctor then walked in with a grim expression on his face. He hated giving news like this. “Doctor, is it true that my daughter is dead?” Yoona quickly asked. The doctor slowly nodded with regret. “How did this happen?” Yoona questioned shaking with tears rolling down her face. “The bullet went straight to the baby’s head. She was using a bullet that’s purpose was to penetrate the body and go through a body. These bullets are rare and infrequently used. It automatically killed the baby. It was like the baby sort of protected you from dying. Without that baby there, you would have probably died. I’m sorry for your loss. You have my condolences,” the doctor explained. Yoona began to bawl after his words. She began to think that it would have been better if she died and her baby survived. She just couldn’t help but feel cruel at the fact that her baby’s dead and she’s not. She saw Seunghyun quietly looking down at the floor. He hugged her again at the loss. Yoona felt that the only person that could understand her pain was him. It was their baby that was gone. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~A/N: Please don’t hate me for this! This was part of the plot since the beginning. Goodness, it took me like three hours (it usually takes me about one hour and a half to write a regular chapter) to write 2,385 words for this chapter. I know that my readers are probably sad, but put it this way—think how hard it was for me! I had to write those words—and it was hard. It was so hard that I was kind of tearing (oh just a little) when I was writing this chapter. It’s like you get so attached to your characters and being the writer, you control their lives. I know some of you guys are wondering why I couldn’t just end it there and avoid the event of losing her baby, but I just couldn’t. It’s a very important aspect in the storyline. Please comment! :)
