Hiding (1/1)

One week later…             Yoona was in the porch of the mansion sipping on tea.  Seunghyun finally went to work after Yoona insisted that she didn’t need him, Jiyoung was at a meeting, Minsun still haven’t came back from New York, and Yuri was in her business class.  It was only Yoona and the servants.  Yoona specifically told the servant that she wanted to be alone for a while outside.  She even promised that she wouldn’t do anything suicidal after one maid showed concern for her being.  The maids came back inside to start cleaning as Yoona rocked back and forth on a rocking chair.  She was expecting Jessica to come and visit her.  Jessica wasn’t allowed in the emergency room in the hospital and it would be Yoona’s first time seeing her after the whole accident.  Yoona then saw Jessica’s car park to the side as she walked out of the car and onto the porch.  Yoona gave a little smile as Jessica hugged her tightly.                “How are you feeling?” Jessica asked.                “I feel different.  Everything looks different to me now,” Yoona answered.                “What do you mean?” Jessica questioned her.                “I feel bad because right now, I really want to kill Goo Hara.  I want her to feel all the pain that I went through because of her.  I want to see her suffer,” Yoona slowly said.                Jessica shook her head, “You’re just not thinking straight.  You wouldn’t even hurt a fly.  Of course, you’re angry right now, and I do know that I’m in no position to tell you what to do because I’m not in your shoes.  I’m not in your position and I’m not the one that lost a child, but you shouldn’t be talking like that.  Just do something that your daughter would be proud of you doing.  Handle this situation like a mother.  Yoona, just because your baby is gone, it doesn’t mean that you’re not a mother anymore.  Just handle this whole situation like how you would handle it if your baby was still here with us.”                “It’s hard.  It just hurts so much that something like this happened in my life.  I have no one in my life anymore,” Yoona cried.                “Yoona, open your eyes.  You have me.  You have your brothers, your sister-in-laws, your in-laws, and you have Seunghyun,” Jessica stated.                “That’s not true.  I know Seunghyun’s going to leave me sooner or later.  He’s going to leave me because we’re going to have a divorce in five months.  He’s going to move on and act as if this whole marriage didn’t happen.  The only reason why he even ‘loved’ me was because of the baby.  Now that the baby is gone, there’s no reason to stay anymore,” Yoona explained.                “Yoona, for goodness sake, you need to open your eyes!  Why can’t you see that Seunghyun loves you?!  He loves you so much that he didn’t want the gun facing you.  He would rather have the gun facing him!  He would die for you,” Jessica burst out.                “I have an alteration for that statement.  He wouldn’t die for me.  He would die for the baby,” Yoona corrected her.                “Yoona, sometimes I wonder if you’re blind.  You just don’t see it.  I see the way he looks at you and well, he loves you—no—he’s in love with you.  Why can’t you see?” Jessica asked.                “It’s just complicated.  A relationship between me and him after what has happened is highly impossible,” Yoona stated.                “Yoona, I just wish you could see from a different person’s point of view,” Jessica shook her head.                “But I can’t,” Yoona finished for her.                After Jessica left, Yoona grabbed her keys and drove the car out for a drive without the maids’ knowledge.  She knew that they would be in trouble with Seunghyun later, but she’ll defend them when the time comes.  Yoona drove to the lake that she usually visited.  She got out of the car and sat on a bench.  A few months ago, she was sitting on the same exact bench, but she wasn’t alone.  She was with her baby.  She remembered the day clearly.  It was when she found out that Seunghyun had secretly went on a date again with Hara.  She looked out at the lake.  It was so clear and serene.  She just wished that she could stay there forever.  She heard footsteps behind her and looked back.  Part of her was wishing it was Seunghyun, but it wasn’t.                 “What are you doing here all alone?” Siwon questioned her.                “I was just thinking,” Yoona replied.               Siwon took a seat next to her as he looked at the lake too.  He knew she was distant, even though she was right next to him.  He found out what happened to Yoona in the news.  There was full story coverage of how she lost her baby and what happened during the baby shower.  Siwon pitied her.  He knew that the baby was really important to her.                “I’m sorry about the baby,” Siwon apologized.                       “It’s okay.  I guess I just had my hopes up really high,” Yoona said.                “Look, if you don’t want to go ahead with the plans that we made together, it is okay.  Just stay with Seunghyun if you want.  I think that man loves you,” Siwon guessed.                “Why does everyone say that he’s in love with me?  If he did love me, he would have told me, but he never did.  By the way, I still want to go through with our plans.  Just because I lost the baby, it doesn’t mean that those plans are out the window,” Yoona responded.                “Hm, okay then.  Well, I just wanted to tell you that I bought an engagement ring,” Siwon informed her as he pulled it out of his pocket and showed it to her.                Yoona smiled for the first time since the accident, “It’s beautiful.”                Seunghyun was in his office typing on his laptop.  He became instantly irritated as his laptop froze.  He grunted in frustration.  He heard his secretary knock and walk in with two red folders in her hands.  She knew what happened to him, Yoona, and the baby.  She felt bad for them and knew that he wanted to be left alone.  She quickly left the office as soon as she handed him the folders.                Seunghyun opened the first folder after she left.  It was labeled with Hara.  He hired an investigator to find certain files for him.  It turned out that Hara was in a mental institution now.  The doctors had an unanimous decision that she was finally insane due to neglect and guilt.  It turned out that the moment she heard that she heard that she killed the baby, she snapped.  He shook his head.                He then opened the folder labeled Yoona.  He looked through the files.  He saw that the baby did have a bullet to its head.  Hara did a good job in targeting her goals.  He was in disgust to read that the bullet was removed after surgery.  He then closed his eyes.  His memories began to haunt him.  He remembered that he was waiting in the waiting room with Yuri and Jiyoung.  His eyes were hurting from all the crying, but he didn’t care about himself. Flashback…                The doctor walked over to Seunghyun and tapped his shoulder to have a word with him.  Seunghyun nodded and quickly stood up.  They went into the hall so that they could speak privately.  Seunghyun closed the door to the hall.                “How’s Yoona and the baby?” he asked.                “Mr. Choi, I’m going to be completely honest with you.  One of them is going to be okay and the other one is going to die.  We can only save one and well since you’re the husband and the father of the baby, we’re letting you decide.  We can’t save both.  The last time this happened two years ago, I tried saving both, but the both of them ended up dying.  I don’t want to make that mistake again and I would like to ask you to choose one:  your wife or your daughter.  The bullet went into the baby’s head, but it didn’t go deep into her brain.  If we don’t remove the baby, the bleeding won’t be good for your wife and she will die.  If we remove the baby, your baby will die, but your wife will be saved from the excessive bleeding.  I do have to tell you though that the baby will most likely be mentally retarded.  She won’t be able to comprehend normal things as a child,” he explained.                “So you’re saying that there’s no way that you can save both?” Seunghyun asked with tears trickling down his cheeks.                “I’m sorry, but no.  If I tried, it would just be a waste.  There’s a zero percent chance of survival of both,” he answered.                Seunghyun took a deep breath, “I choose my wife Yoona.  I love her so much that I can’t live in a world without her existence.”                The doctor nodded as he began to walk away back to the operation room to save Yoona.                “Doctor,” Seunghyun called out as the doctor looked back, “I don’t want you to tell anyone about my decision.  I don’t want even Yoona knowing about it.  You’re going to tell her that the baby died right away.  You’re not going to tell her about my decision to save her and lose the baby.”                The doctor nodded in agreement. End of Flashback…                All the documents were in that folder.  Seunghyun closed the folder immediately after reading it.  He heard his phone rang and answered it.  It was one of his ‘spies’.                “How’s Yoona?” he asked.                “She’s a little dramatic.  For about two hours, she was in the front porch just drinking tea while she stared out at the garden.  Her friend, Jessica, then visited her and left within thirty minutes.  After her friend’s visit, she left and went to a lake and Siwon was there.  They sat next to each other on a bench and he showed her an engagement ring,” he informed him.                “An engagement ring?” Seunghyun asked.                “Yes, that is so, sir,” he confirmed.                “Okay then,” Seunghyun said as he hung up.              Seunghyun got home late around one in the morning.  Yoona was waiting for him to come home.  She was in a long robe as she sat down on a couch next to the entrance of the mansion.  She stood up as she heard loud pounding on the door.  She looked through the window and saw that it was Seunghyun.  His eyes were red from the alcohol and his breath reeked of whiskey.  It was only Yoona and him in the house.  Jiyoung and the others wanted to give them some privacy after what had just happened.  Yoona opened the door and saw that he wasn’t walking straight.  Yoona was disappointed in him.  She just hated it when he was drunk.               “Yoona, thanks for being h-here.  If you weren’t here, I would all alone in this house,” Seunghyun slurred.              “Seunghyun, just go upstairs and get to bed,” Yoona ordered.              Seunghyun ignored her, “You’re not going to stay with me for long though.  You’re going to be with Siwon in a few months!  I’m going to be all alone.  I’m going to be a bitter man when you leave.  You know, I loved the baby so much, but you know I secretly hoped that the baby would keep us together?  I don’t want to get divorced, Yoona!”              “You’re talking nonsense,” Yoona told him.              Seunghyun was about to say something until he collapsed.  Luckily, Yoona caught him before he hit the floor.  He was a little conscious, and he had the ability to walk with Yoona’s help.  Yoona sighed as she put his arm around her shoulder for support.  They both walked up the stairs together until they finally made it to the bedroom.  Yoona set him on the bed as he quickly fell asleep.  Seunghyun looked like a drunken fool.  Yoona sat down at the foot of the bed and buried her face in the palms of her hands.               “This is going to be hard if times are always going to be like this,” Yoona said to herself. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~A/N:  Please comment!  I hope that you enjoyed this chapter.  Eek, it’s a cold winter Saturday night and my momma won’t
