Double Date (1/1)

One Year Sunshine94 97150K 2023-11-02

Yoona got ready for their double date as Seunghyun trudged on.  Yoona combed through her hair as she checked if her outfit was suitable.  She was wearing a pair of blue skinny jeans with a casual t-shirt.  She slipped on her black converse as she saw Seunghyun come out of the bathroom with jeans and a long sleeve.  Yoona couldn’t help but giggle at her first sight in seeing him in something that wasn’t either pajamas or a business suit.              “Just go downstairs already if you want.  I’m still going to pick out my shoes,” Seunghyun requested.             Yoona made her way downstairs to see that Jiyoung was sitting in the living room nervously.  His girlfriend wasn’t there yet and he looked anxious to see her.  Yoona remembered Yuri telling her that his girlfriend was a few years older, but it didn’t make her any less gorgeous.  In fact, she was twenty-six years old, but she looked like she was only twenty.  Yoona sat in the couch across from Jiyoung and saw him smile nervously at her.             “What’s wrong, Jiyoung?  Shouldn’t you be glad that you’re going to see your girlfriend?” Yoona asked.             Jiyoung nervously laughed, “It’s not that I don’t want to see her.  I wanted to see her for a long time now.  It’s just that she is angry at me for not seeing her for a while.  I haven’t seen her in person for about three weeks because of my hectic schedule because I’m the vice president in the company now.  It’s hard to see her since I have so much work put out for me.  She thinks that I’m cheating on her or something, but I would never do that to her.  To tell you the truth, I only made it a double date because she would only accept if you and Seunghyun were included in it.  She wouldn’t dare reject you and she had been dying to meet you.  She told me she had a feeling that you two were going to get along.”             “Hm, I like her already,” Yoona smiled.             The doorbell rang as Jiyoung jumped up and ran to the door.  He saw Sandara standing there with an angry expression as she walked into the mansion and looked around for Yoona.  Jiyoung was about to give Sandara a kiss, but was rejected when Sandara stopped him with her hand.              “That’s what you get for rejecting me on our dates for the past three weeks!” she stuck her tongue out.             Yoona stood up and saw Sandara.  She was as gorgeous as Yuri explained her to be.  She reminded Yoona of herself.  Sandara was wearing a similar outfit to Yoona’s.  She was in casual attire with sneakers on.  Sandara ran up to her and gave her a big hug as she squealed after seeing the wedding ring on Yoona’s finger.             “You’re the great Park Yoona that overthrew Goo Hara!  And sorry that I couldn’t come to your wedding!  I’m an actress and a model and I had to shoot for a commercial in Philippines.  I’m sorry,” Sandara apologized.             Seunghyun then walked down the stairs and shook his head as he heard Sandara talking badly of Hara.  He ignored it and greeted her.             “Hey, Dara, I see you’re still Jiyoung’s girlfriend,” Seunghyun joked.             “And I now see that you finally opened your eyes and got with a new and better girl!” Dara laughed.             Yoona was still amazed on how everyone in the family hated Hara.  Now that Yoona had a personal encounter with her, she understood why, but Yoona still didn’t understand why Seunghyun even put up with her.              “Come on and let’s get going to the restaurant,” Seunghyun ordered.             The four got into the car and made it to the restaurant in no time.  Once they were in the restaurant, Yoona found that Jiyoung and Sandara were arguing again.  Jiyoung’s phone rang and he answered it without hesitation.  Sandara insisted that he should hang up, but he told her that it was an important call and it could not be ignored.             “I think you should just take the call since they’re both arguing,” Yoona whispered to Seunghyun.             Seunghyun coughed a little to get Jiyoung’s attention as Seunghyun took the phone from Jiyoung and answered the call.  Seunghyun walked out of the restaurant to get some privacy with the caller from the company.  Sandara crossed her arms angrily after she pushed her plate forward signaling that she was no longer hungry.  Yoona was kind of stuck in the middle and she just didn’t know what to do.             “Dara, are you mad at me?” Jiyoung asked.             “You must be really stupid to even ask that!” Sandara yelled.             Yoona thanked God that the table they were in was a private section in the restaurant so that it was only the four of them in the private room.  If anyone else heard their arguing, they would have probably been kicked out of the restaurant.  Yoona tried to distract herself by eating, but it didn’t work.             “I was just concerned if you were angry!  That phone call was very important and I don’t know why you’re angry,” Jiyoung stated.             “I’m freaking angry because you never make time for me anymore!  You’re always working all the time and that’s why I always reject your marriage proposals!  I always reject them because I know that if we get married, you’re not really going to be married to me.  You’re going to be married to your job!” Sandara fired back with attitude.             “I’m just trying to make a better future for us and the company!” Jiyoung defended.             “Whatever.  I’m tired of you and your job.  I’ve been putting up with this for four years and I really can’t take it anymore.  Sometimes, I feel like you’re my temporary boyfriend because you’re only there sometimes,” Sandara spat as she got up and walked out.             Jiyoung looked really nervous, but he knew that she hated it when he followed her when she was angry.  She needed support from a female.  Yoona saw Jiyoung’s concern as Yoona stood up.             “I’m going to try to talk to her,” Yoona told him as Jiyoung nodded.             Yoona walked out of the restaurant and saw Seunghyun sitting down on a bench looking really concentrated on the phone call.  Yoona ignored him and saw that Sandara was waiting for a taxi.  Yoona walked up to her and Sandara’s eyes grew wide with surprise that Yoona had followed her.             “Yoona, what are you doing here?  You should go back inside because I’m scared that I’m going to explode in front of you,” Sandara tried to laugh.             “Actually, I’m here to talk to you.  I want to listen to your problems,” Yoona gave her an encouraging smile, “How about we take a walk in the nearby park?”             Sandara nodded as she looked at Yoona with admiration.  No one had ever told her straight up that she wanted to listen to her problems.  Sandara knew that from that moment on, Yoona was a woman that wanted to help out even if it isn’t her problem.  Once they reached the park, Yoona and Sandara sat on a stone bench under a tree.             “So, why are you so upset?” Yoona finally asked.             “I’m upset because of everything.  When I met Jiyoung, I was so madly in love with him.  We used to talk every day, see each other every day, and we fell in love.  Now that he’s the vice president in the company, he’s changed.  Don’t get me wrong, he’s still the same guy that I fell in love with, but I feel like he sets his work as his main priority.  I agreed going on this date hoping that he’ll spend every minute with me, but he just ends up taking that stupid phone call,” Sandara vented.             “Sandara, I know how you feel.  Seunghyun’s my husband, but I feel as if he’s the president to the company first then he’s my husband second, and I think that’s how you feel.  I was able to cope with that because I knew how important the company is to him.  The company really is important to both Seunghyun and Jiyoung.  I mean, come on, the company was passed down by their great grandfather and they want to keep the tradition alive.  I think that Jiyoung just wants you to understand that he loves you with all his heart, but he still needs to help run the company.  He does want to make a brighter future,” Yoona advised.             Sandara laughed at herself, “You know what? I’m kind of selfish.”             “No, you’re not!  You’re just confused about things right now.  To add on to it, I don’t think that Jiyoung’s main priority is the company because every time I talk to him, he always manages to bring you up and boast on how beautiful, caring, and kind his girlfriend was.  As a matter of a fact, he didn’t go one day without wondering how you were, what you were doing, if you had eaten already, and if you missed him when you two were gone for that three week period,” Yoona spoke the truth, “I should know since I live with him.”             Sandara began to cry.  Her tears began to escape her eyes as Yoona hugged her in comfort.  Sandara’s wailing began to become louder as Yoona offered her a tissue from her purse.             “I am selfish!  Ah, Yoona, I wish my life was like yours!  You probably just met Seunghyun and fell in love with him!” Sandara cried.             Yoona couldn’t help but laugh at her statement.  Sandara’s tears stopped and looked at Yoona at why she was laughing.             “That’s not exactly true,” Yoona said.             “What are you talking about?  I saw you two on television and you looked so happy with him.  I just thought that he finally came to his senses and forgot about Hara,” Sandara concluded.             “No, I’m actually not in love with him at all.  It’s an arranged marriage and it’s actually kind of complicated.  I don’t think you would like to hear everything,” Yoona warned her.             Sandara sniffed, “I actually want to hear it, please.”             Yoona nodded as Yoona began to think where to start.  Sandara was listening to her carefully making sure that she didn’t miss one word.             “Well, you may know about the Choi-Park feud.  My family hates Seunghyun and his family, and Seunghyun and his family hates mine as well.  I never met anyone in the Choi family except for Yuri so I didn’t know what they looked like or who they were.  I had a boyfriend and he was my boyfriend of two years.  He decided to serve the army already and he broke up with me.  I was so stupid for trying to get over him by drinking alcohol.  I got drunk and I woke up naked next to Seunghyun.  I got pregnant and I decided to marry Seunghyun for the baby, my family’s company, and so that the image of the both perfect families won’t be ruined.  You know this issue is about you.  I don’t think it should be about me,” Yoona claimed.             Sandara started to cry even more.  Yoona tried to comfort her as she gave her another tissue.             “This makes me feel so bad!  I’m complaining about my life when you’re going through way more than what I am!  I’m so selfish!” Sandara shouted.             Yoona saw Sandara try to wipe her tears away.             “Jiyoung is in that restaurant right now worrying about you. He’s such a loving boyfriend and he cares about you so much.  If I were you, I would reconsider your decision of thinking of him as a bad boyfriend,” Yoona told her.             Sandara stood up as she nodded at Yoona.  She walked back to the restaurant with Yoona by her side and sat down in a chair next to Jiyoung.  Seunghyun, who had returned to the table after the call, sensed that the two needed some time alone to talk things through, so he took Yoona by the hand as he surprised her.             “Oh!  Where are we going?” she asked.             “Uhm, we’re going to go home.  No one’s at the house and no one’s going to be there all night.  Yuri’s going to be visiting my mother along with Daesung and Seungri.  By the looks of it, Jiyoung will probably sleep over at Sandara’s house.  I heard that there was going to be a storm tonight, so we should really get home,” Seunghyun explained in a monotone.             When they got home, Seunghyun went straight to the bathroom in their bedroom to take a bath.  Yoona sat down on the couch, but soon stood up again after she heard the home phone ring.  She looked at the caller id and saw that it was none other than Hara.  She rolled her eyes as she pressed the talk button.             “Hello, this is Mrs. Seunghyun Choi speaking,” Yoona greeted mockingly.             Hara grunted, “Are you trying to insult me?  And don’t be bragging about that title because you’re not going to be keeping it for very long.”             “Oh please, shut up, I’m Seunghyun’s wife and I’m the woman he comes home to.  Why won’t you make it easier on yourself and go for an old millionaire instead.  Maybe you’ll get more money,” Yoona suggested.             Yoona rolled her eyes again as Hara continued to rant about how she was the real woman Seunghyun loved.  Yoona walked upstairs into their bedroom as she began to undress her jeans and shirt.  She walked over to the closet and pulled out a loose white t-shirt, a pair of socks, and a pair of shorts.  She put on her shorts as she continued to listen to Hara’s insults with the phone against her ear.  She was in a little surprise as she heard the bathroom door fling open with Seunghyun standing next to the door.  She was startled as she quickly put on her shirt.  He had just seen her with only a pair of shorts and her black bra.  She started to blush ferociously as she adjusted her shirt.  Yoona blushed even more to see that Seunghyun had a towel wrapped around his waist.  His hair was dripping wet and the intense look in his eyes that Yoona secretly loved was showing.             “Seunghyun oppa, put on your clothes!” Yoona yelled.             “Why should I?!  This is my room and you’re the one doing stripping in front of me.  Just hurry up and finish doing it so we can start!” Seunghyun ordered.             Yoona could hear Hara screaming through the phone after hearing Seunghyun and Yoona’s statements.  Yoona successfully hid her grim smile.  Hara was probably thinking of something within sexual reference when Seunghyun was telling her to finish putting her socks on so that they can start watching the movie that they were going to watch.  Yoona was now content as she hung up on Hara.             “Who was that anyways?” Seunghyun asked.             “Hm, wrong number?” Yoona smiled.             The two were standing awkwardly in the bedroom as Yoona put the phone on top of a table in the room.  The lights began to flicker on and off and Yoona saw Seunghyun’s expression.  He looked terrified at the sight as he ran to Yoona and hugged her tightly.  The lights soon turned off and Seunghyun hugged her even tighter.  The electricity was out and it was a blackout.             “Seunghyun, you may be forgetting that I’m pregnant and tight hugs aren’t very good for the baby,” Yoona squeaked.             “Sorry,” he apologized as he loosed his grip around Yoona.             Yoona was a bit surprised at his reaction to the blackout.  Who would have ever known that the great Seunghyun Choi was afraid of the dark?  Yoona couldn’t help but smile.  It was a good thing that it was dark because he couldn’t see her grin.  Yoona then put her hands around his waist to comfort him, but she felt that his towel was going to fall anytime soon.  She was pretty sure he was butt naked under the towel.             “Yah, change into some clothes!” Yoona ordered.             “I can’t!  I’m scared to get dressed alone in the dark.  Will you help me?” he asked.             “NO!  I’m not going to dress you!  I’m not your mother,” Yoona laughed.             Seunghyun pouted as Yoona sighed.             “Fine, I’ll help you but I only am because it’s pitch dark and I can’t see anything.  And I’m not putting on the clothes for you!  I’ll just stand on the sidelines.  Come on, let’s walk to the closet,” Yoona gave instructions.             They both walked to the closet as Yoona went into the closet and picked out a pair of pajamas for Seunghyun.  He quickly put it on as Yoona went to a dresser and pulled out a battery powered lamp.  Yoona smiled as she turned it on.  She went to her side of the bed and lounged.  Seunghyun joined her feeling a sense of security with the small light that the lamp gave off.  It was silent for a few seconds.             “Why are you scared of the dark?” Yoona asked as she broke the awkward silence.             “I don’t feel comfortable about telling you something personal about me,” Seunghyun spoke.             Yoona had disappointment in her voice, “Oh, okay then, I guess.”             Seunghyun sighed at himself.  It was just so natural for him to be so mean to her.  He really needed to stop doing that to her.  He finally made an attempt to be nice to her.             “I’ll tell you if you answer a question about yourself,” he offered.             “Shoot,” Yoona agreed.             “Well, even before I knew you, I have always known that your brother, Leeteuk, was overprotective of you.  I just wanted to know why he acted like that,” Seunghyun asked.             Yoona laughed a little.  She swallowed some of her saliva as closed her eyes.  She had to remember a bad memory.              “When I was ten, both of my parents were still alive.  They were magnificent.  They had a happy marriage, they had a happy family, and they had money.  A lot of people were jealous of them and their money.  A Chinese rival company was so competitive with my family’s company that they kidnapped me after I got out of school.  For two months, I was under their wrath.  I was only a ten year old girl, but I seriously thought I was going to die.  They only fed me one or two meals a day, they would even beat me, and call me so many names.  I remember they used to pull my hair so hard that some of the hair would come out.  The two months were over because my father and mother found me, but they paid ten million won to agents to find me.  When I came home, I remember hugging my family so tightly.  I thought that I was never going to see them.  All of them cried, but Leeteuk cried the most.  He saw the cuts on my face, the bruises around my body, the small bald spots in my scalp, and my skinny body.  He said it was his entire fault because he was supposed to pick me up after school and he was late.  He promised me that I was going to be safe from now on,” Yoona informed him.             Seunghyun was a bit touched with her story.  She thought that she was just some spoiled princess that Leeteuk protected because she was the only girl in the family.  Leeteuk really did have a reason for his protective behavior and Seunghyun had to be honest and admit that he felt kind of guilty for judging the Park family.  He did protect Yuri, but not as much as Yoona’s brothers did to her.  He also felt guilty for being so mean to her.  She didn’t deserve anything that she was getting.             “So tell me why you’re so scared of the dark!” Yoona smiled.             Seunghyun chuckled to himself.  He was kind of embarrassed to tell her the story.  He looked at her and saw that she was paying attention to him.  He was never used to it since Hara would always glaze at him until he finished talking about himself so that she can talk about herself.              “Well when I was five years old I went to an amusement park with the whole family.  My mother was there alongside with Jiyoung, Yuri, and my father.  I remember that I wanted to ride the Ferris wheel so bad, but my father told me that I was still too young, but someday when I’m old enough and when I turn into a man, I could ride it.  I remember being angry because my father said I wasn’t a man.  I know I was a stupid five year old.  I snuck into one of the cages for the Ferris wheel and the lights turned off.  I was at the very top and I was all alone in there.  It turns out that it was closing time and the amusement park was closing.  Because I snuck in the Ferris wheel, they didn’t know I was there and they shut it down.  I remember screaming, “Mom and dad please help me off this stupid thing!  I swear I’ll never do this again!”  My mom and dad heard my screaming and crying and took me down from the wheel.  I swore to myself that I would ride that Ferris wheel when I turn into a real man,” Seunghyun laughed.             “So you have never ridden it since then?” Yoona questioned.             “Nope,” Seunghyun answered.             “Why not? You’re a man already,” Yoona said.             “Yes, I am physically a man, but I want to have full mentality of a man,” Seunghyun corrected her.             “Okay, whatever, but I think your little story was cute,” Yoona giggled.             “How can that be cute?!  I was crying my eyes out when I was stuck there!  I was so scared; I thought I was going to wet my pants!  Hey—you never heard that!” Seunghyun laughed.             Seunghyun was kind of surprised with himself.  He saw Yoona laughing with him at his statement of wetting his pants as a five year old.  He remembered that Hara laughed at him, not with him when he revealed that statement.  He found himself amazed by Yoona more and more every single day.  He finally understood why so many men like her and why Leeteuk protected her from so many guys.  She was beautiful, charming, and understanding.             Their alone time together was finally over when the electricity came back on and they heard the door ring.  Seunghyun hid his disappointment as Yoona put away the lamp and ran downstairs to answer the door.  Seunghyun soon followed her and saw that it was Sandara and Jiyoung.  When Yoona opened the door, Sandara ran up to her and hugged her.  Yoona smiled, but she really didn’t know the reason why Sandara was so happy.             “We talked about it, and we made up!  Oh my goodness thank you so much, Yoona!  If it weren’t for you, I would have probably broken up with my lovely Jiyoung!” Sandara explained.             A few hours later, Sandara left the house and Seunghyun had already gone to sleep.  Yoona was reading Jane Austen’s Emma while she sipped on some hot tea in the living room.  She put down the book and tea as she saw Jiyoung sit on the couch across from her.  She gave him a smile as Jiyoung gave a small wave.  Yoona was smiling because she saw the happiness all over his face.             “Sorry, but am I bothering you?” Jiyoung asked.             “No, you’re not bothering me.  I have already read that book twice,” Yoona giggled.             Jiyoung wondered why she was reading a book she had already read.  He broke away from his thoughts as he stood up straight.             “I wanted to thank you for talking to Sandara for me.  I knew that she was going to break up with me soon and I’m just grateful that you’re my sister-in-law.  You know in the beginning, I had to admit that I didn’t like you, but I never showed it,” Jiyoung answered.             “Hm, is that supposed to mean that you like me now?” Yoona laughed.             “It does mean that I like you now!  Of course I only disliked you for a stupid reason.  I only disliked you because you were a Park heiress, but I’m putting all that behind me now.  You know, I like you for Seunghyun hyung way better that Goo Hara.  Goo Hara tried breaking me and my Sandara up so that her friend could have a chance with me.  Oh goodness, that Gyuri girl looked like a goddess, but she still couldn’t match up to my dear Sandara,” Jiyoung admitted.             Yoona and Jiyoung bonded for the rest of the night.  Yoona didn’t know it, but it was another vote for Seunghyun to leave Hara for Yoona.
