Chapter 14 (1/1)
"Rae..", Lay said, also surprised to see her there. Luhan looked back and forth between them, his face was blank in confusion."You two..know each other?", Luhan asked curiously. The two shifted uncomfortably and mumbled a few incoherent words. He waited for an answer as the two spoke to each other with their eyes. Luckily, they were both thinking of the same excuse. " Our families do business together.", Lay explained, looking pointedly at Rae for her to agree. She quickly nodded and smiled. Luhan looked appeased with that answer and shrugged indifferently, but Kris sensed something was up."Really..family business? As in joining the two families together?", Kris added slyly. He had an amused look on his face. Rae and Lay looked at each other, flustered at how on point Kris's assumption was. Luhan raised his eyebrows, looking suspicious again. Rae quickly shook her head and denied the truth. Lay mimicked her and assured that they had nothing more to do with each other. Kris only smirked knowingly and shrugged his shoulders. "So, what are you doing here? With our Luhan?", Kris asked, staring Rae down. Now it was time for Luhan and Rae to exchange panicked looks. After moments of waiting, Kris added," You two...". Luhan widened his eyes and froze in place. Rae squared her shoulders and looked straight into Kris's eyes."We're dating.", she said blatantly. Everyone froze and stared blankly at one another."What does she mean, Luhan?", Kris asked threateningly, but Luhan only kept quiet and wiped the bullets of sweat that were slowly forming on his forehead. The awkward silence was too much for Rae to handle so she decided it was time to speak up."You heard me...we're dating. We like each other.", Rae repeated with more confidence, although she was also hesitant to say more due to Kris' deathly gaze. Lay had not spoken since Rae's announcement and he looked as perplexed as ever. He placed the gun slowly onto the table, propped his arms up onto his knees, and rested his chin on his hands while leaning foreword."You too...like each other...and are dating?", he asked, as if it was hard to form the sentence."Yes! How many more times must I repeat it?!", she shouted in exasperation. She could however read what Lay was thinking. After all they were technically supposed to be together. Although she knew what he was thinking, she couldn't understand the fustrated and somewhat hurt expression he had on his face. It made her feel uneasy, but the questioning quickly dispersed as Kris cleared his throat with a stern expression. He burst out laughing as if what Rae just said was the most hysterical thing he ever heard. He stood up and crossed the room to where Luhan was standing and proceeded to reach up and ruffle his hair. Luhan's eyes widened and he stared at Kris, confused. "So you! You're dating some rich chick, huh? Who happens to be of the very group who hates us!", Kris scoffed. He was still chuckling to himself as Rae glared at him."We don't hate you. At least I don't. Hey, why don't you give a chance for people to actually like you? Instead of automatically acting on the thought of everyone against you?", Rae retorted. From what she knew, Luhan wasn't anything like what a guy from Exo would be like. In fact, he was the opposite. This same thought applied to Lay also. Kris let go of Luhan's head and pounced onto Rae."Oh sweetie, did you forget our little encounter? I wasn't that bad, was I? Didn't you..also enjoy it?", Kris whispered into her ear, sending shivers down her spine. Before she could respond, Kris was pried off of her by a very angry Luhan."I tried to forget that, but you keep bringing it up! It's not okay for you to talk to my girlfriend like that. She's mine now!", Luhan shouted. This was the first time Exo had seen him mad. Nothing had really bothered him..until now. He glowered at Kris, while standing protectively in front of Rae. She had one hand on his arm, afraid that he might throw a punch out of anger. She knew he would regret it if he hurt his best friend. Even if it was Kris. This time, it was Kris' turn to be infuriated. He stomped over to Luhan, closing the space between them and grabbed his collar. Kris flung Luhan against the wall, tightening his grip on Luhan. "This is how it's going to be? You going against the gang over a girl? Luhan, are you not thinking?! You're picking that girl, who doesn't belong with you over your friends who have been like brothers to you for years?!!", he shouted with a quivering tone. Luhan pushed Kris off him and reversed positions. He was now pinning Kris against the wall."If we were brothers, you wouldn't make me choose between the people I love the most and the person I want the most!", Luhan responded. Tears were now forming in his eyes and he had a hurt expression on his face. Luhan dropped his hands and Kris started to stand properly, looking down. Rae and Lay had been watching quietly from the side. They were in no position to get between the fight of the closely bonded friends. Out of nowhere, a door burst open and out popped another boy, wearing a pink apron and holding a spatula. "Alrighty! Dinner is ready, so everyone- Huh? Who's this?", the boy asked with widened, round eyes.
