[M] One Question (1/1)
Authors note: Rated M due just one word and one word only. Not because of the other thing you’re thinking of. :)~~~~~The adrenaline was fading as Byul drove them home, and as her heart slowed down the weariness brought on by the confrontation crept in her system. She side glanced at Hyejin in the passenger seat, who had brought her knees up and hid her face behind it. Byul could tell the event affected her greatly so she left her alone for now. When they reached home Hyejin didn’t move from her seat. Byul thought she fell asleep but when she opened the passenger door Hyejin was peering at her from between her knees. She didn’t look as fierce now, thought Byul, on the contrary she looked so adorable that Byul’s tummy made a whoop. “Jinie?" tilting her head to the side to get a better look. “I’m sorry” Hyejin said, looking anxious. “I dragged you out of your own cafe.” “Didn’t you hear what I said?” Byul moved in to unravel the younger girl from her state, she offered her hand and Hyejin took it. “Let me then repeat it for you, my lady. I said you have my full consent.” Hand in hand they went inside the elevator. Byul pressed the 22 button, then went behind Hyejin, hugging her tired lion. “Wanna come over? I’ll cook for you.” Hyejin didn’t answer for a while, then move to press the 23rd button as she said, “I’ll just go get change.” Byul hugged her tighter locking Hyejin in place. She snuggled her face in Hyejin’s neck, inhaling the familiar scent. Tonight letting go was not an option. “Change in my place. I got plenty of clothes.” Byul eyed Hyejin’s finger hovering over the button and held her breath. “It’s only a floor away.” Byul groaned. Hyejin sighed and dropped her hand. “You’re clingy all of a sudden” Hyejin chuckled. “Don’t leave me” Byul whispered. “S-shall we go then” Hyejin stuttered, when the door opened on the 22nd, she held Byul’s hand and led the way. “Sorry if it’s a bit messy” Byul told her as she opened the door to her house. The door opened into a hallway, towards the left was a closed off room, to the right was a space divided into the kitchen and a small bathroom. Ahead was an long open living area that Byul divided into a dining area in the right, a entertainment area in the middle and a mini workout area in the far left. They stood in the hallway awkwardly then Byul cleared her throat. “I’ll go make dinner.” “I’ll take a shower” “Y-yeah. There are towels in the bathroom, I’ll go prepare your clothes.” Upon entering her room her mind ran frantic and her heart with it. It was not her custom to spontaneously invite anyone without a plan. Yet here she is, alone in her house, with Hyejin just outside expecting something grand. She forced herself to calm down while cursing her mouth for talking without thinking. “I’ll make her dinner and then we’ll go from there.” Byul told herself as she rummaged for some clothes. When she came out, Hyejin was in the shower. She placed the clothes on a table near the bathroom and went to do her job. It was unreal, hearing Hyejin actually showering in her house, the feeling resembling a newlywed brides first experience with her partner. It was tingly and new, scary and nerve wracking. It excited her. Soon she heard the door opening, her heart leaped nervously, she turned her focus back on what she was cooking. Kimchi jeon and kimchi fried rice. The smell made her mouth drool but another scent invaded it soon. She felt the presence behind her. “What do you think?” Byul asked nonchalantly, turning the pancake over, doing her best to ignore the effect Hyejin had on her. “It looks good.” Came the reply close to her ears. Hyejin was hovering, her warmth invading Byul’s space. “I’ll go get change and help you set up.” The statement rendered Byul speechless and before she knew what she was doing, her whole body had turned around. She took a long breath in. Hyejin stood there, hands on her hips, looking over the meal. Byul’s attention was caught by a drop of water that was trickling down from Hyejin’s temple, slowly trickling down, to her cheek, resting on her jaw for a moment until it dropped unto a towel covering bare flesh. “Of- of course, yeah.” Hyejin noticed her and raised an eyebrow. “Perv” Byul made a panicked noise and quickly covered her eyes. "You were the one who walked in with only a towel on!" "W-well . . . I didn’t ask you to stare!” Hyejin pulled her towel closer and sprinted back to the hallway snatching the change of clothes on her way. “Hey Jinie!“ Byul called out and peeked between her fingers, she smirked as Hyejin’s crimson coloured face popped around the corner. “Is it a pervert thing to say if I said you’re hot?“ “Yes! Pervert!” Byul stifled her laughter by biting her lip. Her whole body was burning, her face even more, but turned back to the food to try and calm herself. Hyejin finally emerge from the hallway wearing a matching top and bottom batman designed pyjamas. Byul stood there mesmerised, she barely turn her lights on at night, for when she comes home late she only need one to navigate. Tonight she needed them all, and all of them shined, but it was odd seeing Hyejin shine brighter than all of them. “They fit me” Hyejin said, turning left and right. “Yeah, they look good, I guess” Byul said cooly. “But? Is there something wrong?” “I just prefer the towel and nothing else” This earned her a smack in the head. “Pervert” ~~~~~ The soft caress on the bridge of Byul’s nose stirred her awake. Her eyes opened to see Hyejin’s finger tracing a line on it. She looked around, the television was off, the ambient light on her ceiling dimly illuminated the room. She was on her back, while Hyejin was on her side, head propped on a hand while the other busied itself on Byul’s face. She must have drifted off while watching the movie they decided to watch after dinner. “Sorry I woke you.” Hyejin said softly. “You stayed.” Hyejin hummed. “I did” “Let’s move to the bed, you must be tired.” Byul stirred but Hyejin remained in place so she settled back down. “I can’t sleep.” Something in Hyejin’s tone of voice gave Byul a hint why. She interlocked her hand around Hyejin’s and nodded for her to go on. “About tonight, y-you can ask. . . I’ll answer anything you want to know.” For sure Byul had a lot of questions. They queued in the back of her mind waiting for their turn to be uttered. Why did you deny having a relationship with me? Why didn’t you ask for help? Why didn’t you trust me enough? They made her lips tremble trying to escape. Byul searched for Hyejin’s eyes, and found them peering at her with a worried look, in them she found her decision. She bit her lip, brushed off all of those unnecessary questions and focused on one. “I have one” Hyejin took a deep breath. “I’m ready. I will explain anything about her” Byul shook her head no. “Jinie, your friends told me everything.” Byul said, gazing at Hyejin’s hand now. She admired them while waiting for its owners reaction. But when the lion fell silent for a long time, Byul looked back up into her eyes and reassured her. “I’ve known since the day I met them.” Byul felt the abrupt attack on her lips, it surprised her so much that it made her gasp, her hand instinctively clenched. She felt the attacker becoming aggressive, slithering their tongue between her parted lips, searching, tasting. In another moment, both of her hand was forced on its back above her head as a shadow loomed over her. The shadows physical body straddled her. Her heart drummed in her chest but the sound it made was dreadful, it was warning her. Lips descended on hers once again. Violent lips that was nothing like she had experienced before. She could feel no love in them and this angered her. The anger gave Byul power to overcome Hyejins hold on her. After freeing her hands, she wrapped her arms around the younger girl and made them both sat up. She took two deep breaths and heard the shallow ones Hyejin made. “You’re angry” Byul whispered. The lion tried to regain power but Byul kept a tight embrace. Hyejin stopped struggling once she knew it was futile to try. Byul counted a second, two, three passed and then she felt hot tears on her shoulder. Hyejin is crying. "Your friends were trying to help you." “It's not them,” Hyejin sobbed. “I'm angry at myself.” “Hyejinah. . . You don’t get to be angry at yourself for my sake.” Hyejin did not hear Byul, she pushed the older girl away then started banging on her chest. Byul saw the lights outside her window, they seemed to dance, oh so slowly, her vision dance with it as tears formed in her eyes. She knew she had to compose herself before speaking because the scene in front of her is making her angry. But there was no time. She held Hyejin’s hand in place and spoke her mind. “Its hurting me too.” she confessed. “It hurt to see you pretend everything was ok when it wasn’t. It hurt to realise you didn’t trust me enough. It hurt that you did not tell me or ever planned to. It hurt knowing that the only way to help you was to let you figure it out on your own.” Byul paused as her breathing become more shallow with each word uttered. “It hurt when you. . . when you denied me with no hesitation. It was especially unbearable to see you so close to her that she could touch you and whisper words to you that might make you chose her.” Hyejin had stopped struggling as Byul’s gripped slackened. “But those are nothing compared to now. Nothing is more painful than watching you being like this.” Byul’s voice broke. Hyejin slowly shook her head. "I'm the reason you got hurt. I have to suffer as well." "Hyejin, don’t you realise there’s no need to punish yourself" There was panic in Byul's voice now. She had to make Hyejin realise none of it was her fault. "All of the pain I felt vanished the moment you chose me.” Hyejin cried, weakly at first, but as the meaning of those words sank deeper in her understanding she began to sob uncontrolably. The anger that overcame her so strongly melted away with her tears. Byul pulled her closer, locking her tightly in her arms. "Just let it out, Jinie" They stayed like that for awhile, letting their tears flow freely from their eyes, Byul gently rubbed Hyejin’s back for sometime until she laid back down on the sofa pulling the younger girl with her. It took an hour before Hyejin finally stopped crying. She felt light and sleepy. Once her breathing calmed down, Byul told her to hold on tight, the barista got up and made her way to the bedroom. The gentle rocking motion slowly lulled her to sleep but there's still one thing that bothered her mind. “You said you had one question” Hyejin asked softly. “What was it?” “Are you happy with your decision in choosing me?” Instead of answering yes or no. Hyejin said, “I love you.” Byul kissed her forehead. “I love you too.” ~~~~~~~~~ Authors Note: I just wanna say.
