Mottled (1/1)

With trembling fingers, Lee Teuk sat behind his massive oak desk and log onto the CSI mainframe. Yoo Chun was just out the door and he was dying to get infomation on Xiah Kim Jun Su. For a city of over ten million people, why did his own brother find such a felon? He had never disliked lawyers. But he's afraid he hates Yoo Chun's boyfriend already. Not a few contemporaries raised their eyebrows when he pursued a career in Forensic Science when Massachusetts General Hospital was very much willing to absorb him for his residency. And he replied just by showing his bedimpled smile. When he was a kid, he had wanted to be a doctor, that dream remained until he was in college so he continued on to medical school. They had money and he had brains to do so and his parents were very happy. But this little, nagging voice inside him wanted to be a law enforcer (too) and he was determined to realize it. He applied as a Coroner for Miami-Dade Police after the intensive forensic training. His mother opposed malevolently when he told them he wants to move to down south. They were expecting he will practice in Virginia or Washington DC the farthest but he thought Miami would be great to start anew. He knew no one there and there would be nothing to remind him of his painful past. To make the long story short, he won and they let him go half-heartedly. After a couple of months of working for Miami-Dade, he got a call from CSI Miami and was too eager to jump ship. And there, he handled a case that changed his life forever. He was fresh from Harvard Medical School and as idealistic as he can be. As a medical examiner, he needs to travel to the crime scenes or to courtrooms and gather evidences which can be used for criminal investigations. CSI was called to a murder scene in the outskirts of Miami less than two years ago and after gathering enough materials from the scene and performing autopsy on the victim, he concluded that it was rape/murder that involves the city mayor himself, Tomas Regalado. The former TV anchor was accused of raping and killing the daughter of his live-in partner Annette Barrera. In the official statement Barrera made, she admitted that they were already having a hard time on the relationship months before the crime took place but it never crossed her mind that Regalado will take it out on her daughter. It was a high-profile case and people followed it on news. Regalado, a rich Cuban immigrant, was able to get the best lawyers in town and Xiah Kim was one of them. Fresh from New Haven, he must admit he was amazed on how intelligent the young lawyer was. He had a way with words and was able to charm everyone in every room that he enters. And inside the courtroom, he was able to turn the tables to his benefit much to Lee Teuk's consternation. He talked to Atty. Kim days before the decision was made and convinced him to have mercy on the fifteen year old victim. Lia was at the prime of her life, a school politician and a firm believer of gender equality at such a young age, but everything ended abruptly when she drowned on the Miami River. The prosecution pannel was weak and Annette Barrera had no money. And Lee Teuk had two sisters. He couldn't (and wouldn't) imagine that same thing would happen to Dara or Shin Hye or even to Yoo Chun that's why he strove to do the right thing. But Xiah Kim had different perspective and beliefs. He was driven and power-hungry. Tomas Regalado was acquited and continued his reign as the mayor of city of Miami even if all evidences pointed to him. And until now, the bloated images of Lia Barrera still haunted the doctor's sleep. While Xiah Kim Jun Su was high on praises as he rose steadily to the ranks of the most bankable lawyers White and Case has ever produced. He would do everything to tear Yoo Chun and Jun Su apart. The bastard can have the world but not his brother! Not his innocent brother. Definitely not Yoo Chun. And he just thought of the best way to do it. He picked the land phone and dialed a number as a dark smile hovered his lips.****************************************************************************Jae Joong got out of the flashy, red BMW after taking a deep breath. He borrowed Jun Su's car. He figured he won't be able to reach Bedford alive if he would take his own. He went to retrieve the boxes from the trunk and before he can get it all out, a well-bundled Jessica came running from the house. "Oppa!" Her arms were snaked around his neck tightly as she enveloped him in a bone-crushing hug. He let go of the gifts gently and returned the hug."Miss me much?" He chuckled lightly. She let him go and he wished she didn't. Jessica exudes warmth and warmth he needed. She raised her tear-stricken face to him and smiled."No. Why would I? You seem to be doing good without us." She pouted and he felt the familiar ache in his chest. How he missed this girl. He balanced the boxes on his hands and let Jessica guide him to the front porch. "Mom! Look who's here!" She yelled and soon enough, Bae Kyung appeared in the doorway and Jae Joong nailed himself on the porch's hardwood floor. He smelt the familiar scent of Yun Ho's colonial house. It was the house he grew up in and he had so many great memories in here. But he wouldn't dare step in."J-Jae Joong-ah?" She asked, a bit of disbelief on her face. She came to hug him but he can't let her. He was grateful the boxes were still piled in front of his chest. He wouldn't be able to take it if she touches him."Auntie." He let out a smile. "I just dropped by to give these to you guys. Merry Christmas!" But nobody moved to relieve him of the boxes. They just stared at him, perfectly reading his intent of not staying."Oppa, aren't you coming in? You drove all the way from the Manhattan, I'm sure you're hungry." Jessica was holding onto his arm, frantic. "Mom made your favorite apple pie, right Mom?" She turned to Bae Kyung and the older lady nodded profusely."I'd love to but I'm afraid I have so many errands to do today." He set the boxes on the floor carefully and hugged Bae Kyung for a split second, regretting it instantly. He wanted to stay in her arms and cry until he can cry no more. There were a lot of things to say--like, 'I'm so sorry for hurting your precious son' or 'Forgive me for being such a jerk.' but he settled for a simple, "Merry Christmas." He backed away a few steps before breaking into a run to Jun Su's car. He opened the car door and was thankful they didn't go after him. He looked up to where Yun Ho's room's window was and saw the shades move a little. Or he must have just imagined it. He didn't even see his car on the garage. He left Bedford with a heavy heart knowing that it would take him a long time before he could set foot in there again.*****************************************************************************"Gwen cha nah?" Jun Su asked on the phone as he went over his walk-in closet carefully. He wanted to look best for his dinner with Yoo Chun and his older brother.=Good. It was. . .easier than expected.= He heard Jae Joong sigh on the phone however he tried to hold it back. He knew he'll be going to Bedford today and as much as he wanted to go with him, Jae Joong won't allow it. The least he can do was to check up on him as soon as he was back. He was glad his brother was able to accomplish something their Umma asked him to do without him falling apart."I'm glad then." He smiled on the phone even if he can't see him. "Wait, would you want to join us for dinner tonight?" He thought it would be good to have Jae Joong around so he can channel some of the nervousness that he was feeling.=Us?= Jae Joong asked."Chun and his brother. You know, the one from CSI?" Then an idea popped into his head. "Chunnie said his brother is single and maybe--"=Yah! Xiah Kim Jun Su! You're incredible! I can't believe you have the nerve to matchmake me to a stranger!= Jae Joong was groaning loudly from exasperation. *Oaf.* He thought as he contemplated on totaling Jun Su's car just to get back at him."But he's not a total stranger! He's Chunnie's hyung. Surely, he can't be that bad." He grinned.=Say something in that nature again and you'll have a psychedelic Beamer on your garage today.="No, no nooooo! Not my car Hyung! Okay, okay, I'll shut my mouth, arasso?" He can't imagine himself driving a technicolored car around Manhattan.=Good to know.= He smirked."Are you on your way now?" He heard a garbled 'yes'. "Black ice everywhere. Be careful, yes?"=Sure thing. I am approaching the highway now, I'll see you later. 'Love you!= And he heard the busy tone.****************************************************************************"What are you doing?!" Yoo Chun asked his boyfriend incredulously. Jun Su was rubbing his palms repeatedly onto his thighs. They decided to have dinner on the newest Bisque in the metro, figuring it would save them a lot of energy. They were waiting for Lee Teuk who called earlier to let Yoo Chun know know that he would be late a little."I'm. . .a little anxious, I guess?" He tried to smile but he looked like he was in pain or something."Now THAT statement will give CNN a field day. THE Xiah Kim Jun Su's edgy just because he'll be meeting my brother?" Yoo Chun in exaggerated surprise. Jun Su did not even acknowledge the humor in it. "Yah! Will you stop that? If it bores a hole in your pants. . ." He trailed off playfully, a hint of mischief in his eyes."Yah! Pabo!" Jun Su was about to whack him in the head when the door to the VIP room burst open and revealed two males. The first one with dark brown hair and delicate features and rimless eyeglasses was Lee Teuk, Jun Su figured. There was an old family photo in Yoo Chun's office and he hadn't change much aside from losing (in Jun Su's opinion) a lot of weight. The dimples (which was a dominant family trait) were a dead giveaway. And he was vaguely familiar. Then he shifted his eyes to the one he was with--with tousled highlights and a bright smile."Micky Mouse!" He squealed and threw himself onto his boyfriend. "Orenmanida!""Hyukkie?" Jun Su can't deny the delight on Yoo Chun's face as he hugged the stranger back (tightly), he noted."We can use another guest, can't we?" Lee Teuk as he approached the elaborate table. Jun Su felt like an outsider. Yoo Chun's brother smiled at him."We meet again, Attorney Kim." Like a proverbial light bulb, Jun Su remembered him and his smile faltered. Dr. Dennis Park."Babe?" Jun Su realized Yoo Chun was saying something. He noticed his arm were snaked onto the Hyukkie guy's waist protectively and he tried to ignore the prickling sensation in his chest. He smiled a little and bowed to the newcomers."Annyeong hasseyo!""Guys, I want you to meet Kim Jun Su, my boyfriend. Babe, these are my brother," He turned to Lee Teuk. "Park Lee Teuk and my best friend since forever, Lee Eun Hyuk.""Best friend?" Lee Teuk heed. "But you were practically dating if only Hyukkie didn't leave for Switzerland."Jun Su froze in his spot.****************************************************************************A/N: Nyah! Took me long enough to update! Sorry! I am swamped with school work. Bianheyo! I hope you like this update. To Lee Teuk's fans, sorry if he has to be a villain.:)
