They tried calling Yunho a couple of times but he didn’t go with them. His friends didn’t bother him anymore, thinking that Yunho has a terrible hangover from last night’s drinking. They didn’t ask for YoungHee; they’re sure she wasn’t coming with them without Yunho. “Are you sure you’re okay?” MinYoung asked Yunho for the nth time on the phone.“Yes, I’m positive,” Yunho answered softly.“Alright, you know if you need anything you can just call me,” she said.“I know. Listen, I have you to go. You guys have fun. I’ll just see you tomorrow instead,” he told her. They both got off the phone soon when Yunho hung up. He lay carelessly on the bed with his arms and legs stretched out. Yunho turned his head to his left and watched the sun’s glistening rays. Then, he noticed a glass of water by the night table with a sticky note attached to it. Yunho sat up and took off the sticky note from the glass to read it. Here’s a glass of water and honey. I made you tea last night but MinYoung told me that this works better for you and you hated tea. She knows you too well and I wish I did, too. She’s an amazing woman; I hope you won’t keep her waiting for you. If you must know, we girls also have our limits that can’t be surpassed. Good luck, oppa. -YoungHee After reading the note, it made Yunho realize how much MinYoung really knows him. He realized that MinYoung never left his side despite of taking her for granted most of the time. It was now clear to him that his best friend looked at him more than just a friend but he hasn’t thought if he did the same until now. On the other hand, MinYoung was sitting on the sands sketching designs while her friends were having fun in the waters. “MinYoung-ah! The water’s amazing! Come join us!!” Junsu shouted.“I think I’ll just stay here,” MinYoung told him. While Junsu was busy waving MinYoung over, Jaejoong, Yoochun and Changmin tackled Junsu and pushed him down to the water. MinYoung laughed as Junsu waved his arms up. The three girls were laughing as well. Suddenly, MinYoung’s phone beeped, signaling that she received a new message. MinYoung opened her phone and an unknown number has texted her.MinYoung-ssi, Please take care of Yunho-ssi. Goodbye. MinYoung was dumbfounded with the message. She tried to think of who the sender could be but no one came into her mind. Dismissing the message, she deleted it. MinYoung was about to close her phone but she noticed her phone’s background photo: it was a picture of her and Yunho on their graduation day that she recently made as her phone background photo. MinYoung went to her pictures on her phone and browsed each one of them only to figure out that most of the pictures consisted of Yunho and her together. MinYoung immediately closed her phone. She shut her eyes and lightly tapped her phone on her chin. She thought she was long over Yunho and accepted the fact that he’ll never look at her more than a friend; but that didn’t stop her from wishing, hoping and praying that one day, Yunho will love her as much as she loves him. --- The entire day, they didn’t see either Yunho or YoungHee. Thinking that maybe they went out together, Jaejoong sent Yunho a message to remind him that they’re leaving tomorrow morning. The group was supposed to leave the hotel seven in the morning. To be able to get up early and arrive at the airport on time, they decided to hit the hay at nine o’clock and wake up at five in the morning; enough time to have a restful sleep. It was already two in the morning and MinYoung’s phone rang. She lazily moved her hand to her night table to search for her phone with her eyes still closed. Without bothering to see who that caller was, she answered her phone. “Hello?” she greeted sleepily.“Were you asleep?” the person on the other line asked softly. MinYoung sat up upon hearing the person’s voice.“Yunho oppa? Why did you suddenly call?” she rubbed her eyes as she checked her watch. “It’s two in the morning.” “I know, I’m sorry for waking you up but can you please meet me at the beach?” he asked. MinYoung was able to catch the hint of need in Yunho’s voice.“Alright, I’ll be there in five minutes,” MinYoung agreed. MinYoung closed her phone and slowly went to the wash room to freshen up a bit. She slowly crept outside of the room and out of the suite to meet Yunho at the beach. It wasn’t hard to spot Yunho as the beach was already empty with a couple of bon fires lit up in the area. Yunho was sitting near a bon fire with a jacket on. MinYoung ran to where he was a flunked down beside him.“Do you know what time it is already??” MinYoung questioned as soon as she settled down beside him. Yunho checked his watch.“Fifteen minutes pass two in the morning,” he answered monotonously.“And do you know what time we should wake up?” she asked again.“We should be up at five ‘cause we leave at seven,” he answered without missing a beat. “Then what are we doing here at 2:15 in the morning?” she asked him as she blew air to her fingers to keep her hands warm. Yunho let out a heavy sigh which made MinYoung worry.“I need someone to talk to,” he said as he continued to stare at the bon fire.“Hey, what’s wrong?” MinYoung worriedly asked. Yunho bowed his head. “YoungHee broke up with me this morning.” MinYoung was surprised; she didn’t expect for YoungHee to break up with Yunho, knowing that YoungHee is head over heels for MinYoung’s best friend. “Aigoo~ Oppa, that’s sad~” MinYoung held Yunho’s arm and patted his cheek with her other hand. “Are you alright?” she asked as she comfortably encircled her arms on his waist and hugged him for comfort. “I’m fine. I just never thought a break up will feel this way,” Yunho chuckled as he placed his left arm around MinYoung, his hand resting lightly on her waist. MinYoung remained silent, wanting Yunho to talk freely and let out his emotions. “This is a first; YoungHee broke the record. I always initiate the break up. I never thought that she’ll be the one who’ll let go off first,” he told her his thoughts. MinYoung sighed heavily.“What’s with the sigh?” he asked her. “Any girl will have a hard time loving you, oppa. Your ex-girlfriends were just dumb enough to cling onto you. I guess YoungHee got tired,” MinYoung told him.“Then why aren’t you getting tired of me?” he suddenly asked. “I’m different from them because I actually love you.” MinYoung bit her lip in realization of what she just said. She didn’t let go of her hug from Yunho, scared of what he’ll tell her so she just closed her eyes. “And I love you, too.” MinYoung’s eyes flew open upon hearing what Yunho had just said. She pulled away from the hug and stared at Yunho. “I/You,” they spoke at the same time. “You go first,” MinYoung insisted.“No, you go,” Yunho said.“You spoke first so you go. What.. What were you trying to say?” MinYoung asked. Yunho exhaled as he took MinYoung’s hand and laced his fingers on hers. “You know that I love you.. As a friend, right?” MinYoung’s face slowly fell. “I know that,” she tried to smile. “And you know that I care for you so much and that I’ll be here for you no matter what; that I’ll always be your best friend,” he told her. “I know that, too,” she said softly. Yunho just smiled at her. “What do you want to tell me?” he asked, waking MinYoung’s right senses. “Huh? Uhh.. Nothing. I just hope you’re still fine after the break up,” MinYoung let out a tight smile. “I’m fine right now, actually. Thanks to you,” he told her. Yunho and MinYoung got tongue-tied. They instead looked at each other’s eyes intently, trying to hold back the urge to kiss. Instead, Yunho took the interlaced hands and kissed MinYoung’s hand. ~•♥•~
