Just Joohyun and Seungwan (1/1)

A/N: A bit late but here's my entry for the the Wenrene ArtTober. I tried to use the keywords in the same order as the "schedule". I was just winging this so I didn't even know how this turned out. Enjoy!  --- Seungwan woke up to the rays of sunshine peeking through their blinds that’s hitting her face. She groaned and turned to the other side of the bed and reached out blindly to hopefully cuddle with her girlfriend and fall back to sleep, only to frown when she can only feel the cold sheets. She unwillingly opened her eye to make sure that her girlfriend wasn’t really anywhere near her. She groaned when she can't even hear any movements outside, may her girlfriend went out. Still burrowed deep into her pillow, her eye fell on the purple bunny-shaped post-it stuck on her girlfriend's pillow. “Good morning, Love! :) I went out for a quick jog. Hopefully I’ll be back before you wake up so I can be the first thing you’ll see to start your day. ;) I love you. :*”Seungwan couldn’t but smile at her girlfriend’s short message and let out a tiny giggle, she moved towards her girlfriend’s side of the bed and burrowed her face on her girlfriend’s pillow, inhaling Joohyun’s lingering scent. She fell back to sleep, smile in her face, looking forward to waking up again but this time, with her girlfriend around. --- A shill scream of a tiny 8-year old Joohyun rang across the playground when she saw a hamster running towards her as she makes her way towards the slide. She turned away and run but she slipped and fell, the hamster was close to her now and she can only cry. It also seemed that the hamster was frozen in its place just like Joohyun because it wasn’t even moving from where it is now. She was about to kick the tiny animal away from her when another scream can be heard from another part of the playground. “Nooo! Wait! Don’t kick Manen!” A small girl was running towards her, hair dishevelled from trying to chase the hamster, her arms flailing around as she tried to stop Joohyun from hurting the animal.It was almost comical as the girl come nearer, her eyes wide that it almost fell out of its sockets and her eyebrows almost meeting up her hairline. Joohyun almost let out a giggle when she saw how adorable the other girl was if she wasn’t scared of the animal a few feet away from her. Joohyun almost got blinded when the girl smiled as she picked up the hamster. She cooed at the hamster before taking noticed on Joohyun still on her butt a few feet away from the foot of the slide, dried tears marred her face as she stared at the girl. She offered her hand and help Joohyun. Joohyun was just standing still when the other girl was fussing on her, she checked Joohyun’s knees for any wounds, and tried to cleaned the back of Joohyun’s shorts that is full of sand. She also used the hem of her shirt to wipe the dried tears on Joohyun’s face before smiling brightly at her. “Hi, I’m Seungwan!” I’m very sorry for that.” Seungwan pouted when she remembered how scared Joohyun was. “Wow! You’re so pretty! What’s your name?” Seungwan grinned at Joohyun, offering her hand again, this time for her to shake. “I’m Joohyun.” She said softly and shook Seungwan’s hands, still wary of the hamster the other girl is holding.“That’s a very nice name!” Seungwan beamed at her before pushing her hand that’s holding Manen towards Joohyun only for the other girl to squeak in surprise. “Don’t be afraid of Manen, he’s harmless.” Seungwan looked at her, eyes and smile so bright that it could rival the sun, inviting Joohyun to pet her hamster, encouraging her. Those eyes that never changed all throughout the years that they have been together. ---

Joohyun shook her head fondly when she remembered how she and Seungwan met as she opened the door to their shared apartment. The silenced greets her which means that her girlfriend was still asleep. She grabbed a glass of water in their kitchen before padding towards their bedroom. She smiled softly at the sight that greeted her, Seungwan was lying on her stomach on Joohyun’s side of the bed, half of her face was hidden on their pillows as the sun shines on her back giving her that halo effect. The note she left still clutched on Seungwan’s hand. She pressed a kiss on her girlfriend’s forehead before preparing to take a bath. --- Joohyun took a deep breath as she stepped out of their balcony. She pulled her jacket closer when she felt the cold breeze. She can feel her tense muscles relaxing as she took in the view, the stars so bright in the night sky, drown by the artificial lights coming from the neon sighs from the shops below them and the busy streets. The car horns and the muffled chatter of people walking on the streets served as a white noise. She took another deep breath and hugged herself when she felt tears prickling in the corners of her eyes. She just fucking confessed to Seungwan, something that she wasn’t even planning to do. She had been so stressed with her final year in the university, she lacks so much and the green monster inside of her just had to make her presence known, thus, the impromptu confession. She left Seungwan inside their shared apartment. She felt like the tension was too much. The first tear fell...Then the second... and Joohyun just can’t seem to stop crying because she might have ruined her friendship with Seungwan, something that she’s been avoiding all those years of pining on the girl. She just had her back after years of separation when Seungwan and her family migrated to Canada. She hastily wiped her tears and look up to the sky when she suddenly heard the door opening. She can hear Seungwan’s quiet footsteps towards her. She looked down when she felt something hot touching her arms. It was a cup of hot choco. She looked at Seungwan. She had that lovely smile on her lips, her eyes full of happiness yet there’s something that Joohyun just couldn’t name. She took the cup from Seungwan, blew on it and took a sip. Since Joohyun doesn’t like coffee, hot chocolate has always been her company in pulling all-nighters and during cold weather. It also became their favourite beverage, especially when their out stargazing. “Is that why you’ve been avoiding me these past few weeks?” She heard Seungwan ask her.“I’m not avoiding you.” Joohyun answered her to which Seungwan just raised one of her eyebrows. She just pouted and nod.Seungwan just let out a tiny giggle. “Unnie, I like you too.” Joohyun turned her head towards Seungwan so fast that she almost got a whiplash. The other girl laughing at her reaction, saying something about she’s cute and pressing a kiss on her cold cheeks.--- Joohyun just shook her head at her train of thoughts as she finishes her shower. She even let out a small laugh just how scared she was that night about ruining their friendship.She was so scared of losing the other girl, and apparently she’s also dense because she didn’t even feel how Seungwan was also pining on her all those years. Many years wasted with them just mutually pining on each other than making it official.On the other hand, maybe it was for the better since starting a relationship with both of you so far from each other may not be practical. Especially how clingy they were with each other when they started to date. When she went out of the bathroom, her girlfriend was still sleeping peacefully on their bed, she looks like a burrito in their fluffy hamster and bunny printed blanket that Seungwan brought on impulse. It came with a matching pillowcases and bed sheets. Seungwan looks like a kid presenting her purchase to her that day, she was so excited that she even washed those new sheets herself so that they could change their current sheets to it. Turned out, Seungwan had those custom made because those two animals reminds her of them, which Joohyun couldn’t understand, she just looked at her sharply when that slipped out of the other girl’s mouth because it was a bit pricey. But Joohyun just had to give it to Seungwan for always choosing something that is very comfy.She slowly made her way to the sleeping girl and threw her body on top of her, laughing when Seungwan grunted and tried to shake her off. “Wake up, Love.” Joohyun pulled the blanket away from the groaning girl before letting her body drop on top of Seungwan. “Its past 9 already. You always wake up earlier than 7 even on your days off.”She let Seungwan roll over, only to let out a squeak when Seungwan pulled her torso, hugging her close. “Tired?” Joohyun asked her while trying to brush her hair away from her face.Seungwan just hummed. “You smell so good.” Seungwan murmured on her neck. “That’s because I already took a shower. Why don’t you get up and wash while I whip up our breakfast?” She took Seungwan’s arms off her waist and stood up, taking the girl with her. “Don’t go back to sleep. I don’t want you complaining to me about getting a migraine because I let you sleep in too much.” Joohyun told her before getting out of the bedroom making her way to their kitchen.--- They were at their shared apartment with their friends for another game night. It was a weekend after a weeklong of exams so Yeri, Sooyoung and Seulgi came with their Monopoly board. They laid out the game board on the coffee table after sharing the take outs that the girls brought. They were in the middle of playing, Seungwan was having an intense discussion with Yeri about how much she’ll be paying and whose proper was it really with Seulgi whipping her head left and right trying to chime in the argument when she caught herself staring at her girlfriend. Wow, girlfriend. She’s really dating Seungwan. It has only been a few days and Joohyun felt like she’s in the clouds. She decided to break the petty fight because Seulgi might break her neck looking back and forth at Seungwan and Yerim on her both side if she doesn’t.“Okay, that’s enough. Yeri, give that card back to Seulgi and Seulgi, keep your cards close to you, you know how fast Yeri’s hands are.” Yeri let out a loud protest before giving it back to Seulgi while both Seulgi and Seungwan gave her a grateful smile. She almost reached out to pinch her girlfriend’s mochi cheeks. They continued playing and Yeri went bankrupt first. Even after a series of cheating, Yeri still lost and Joohyun would have laughed out loud at the other girl’s rotten luck in tonight’s game night if she didn’t went bankrupt next. She must’ve used up all her luck when she got an angel as her girlfriend.“If you didn’t stare at her that much, you probably won the game.” Sooyoung snorted at her. So she did what she does best these past few days...She whined at Seungwan that they should play another game because Monopoly sucks. She can see Seulgi grimacing on her aegyo while Sooyoung almost threw all her game money on her. They ended their game of Monopoly just to stop Joohyun from whining before Yeri hurl up her dinner and Seulgi call a exorcist because her Joohyun-unnie is acting not so herself this past few days while Sooyoung just smiled meaningfully at the sideline. Seungwan brought out her Jenga blocks and set it up on the table with Seulgi while Yeri scavenge through their fridge for a snack and Sooyoung scrolling through her phone. And Joohyun?Well, Joohyun was just staring at her girlfriend again. Yeri came back from their kitchen with a handful of chips. She threw one at Sooyoung and placed the remaining packs on their table.“The table was a bit wobbly, Seungwan. We should put something under one of its legs first before setting up the blocks.” Joohyun had been telling that to Seungwan a few times already but the said girl together with Seulgi and Yeri just keeps on stacking up the blocks. “Its gonna be okay, Unnie. Its not wobbly enough to make the tower to fall down.” Seungwan reasoned out. Joohyun was still grumbling when Sooyoung told them about teaming up. She immediately grabbed Seungwan’s arm and pulled the girl closer to her, staking her claim.Sooyoung just rolled her eyes on Joohyun. “No one’s gonna steal Seungwan-unnie from you, Unnie, so chill.”Its gonna be her and Seungwan against Seulgi, Sooyoung, and Yeri. It was going as fine as possible when you play a game against Sooyoung and Yeri when suddenly Seungwan’s knee hit the table while Joohyun was getting a risky Jenga block out, and the whole Jenga tower fell down. Joohyun can only look at the remaining blocks on the table sadly as the trio cheered. She pouted when she looked at Seungwan only to find the girl looking at her with those adorable puppy eyes.“See? I told you the table was wobbly. You didn’t listen to me.” Joohyun was grumbling while she collected the fallen blocks, pouting all the while.“Unnie, I’m sorry.” Seungwan was using her cute voice on her. No, Joohyun, you must resist. “We could’ve won the game if you listened to me first.” “How about I make you hot choco? With those tiny mallows that you like?” Seungwan offered at her.“How about I buy you mint choco on our next ice cream run because you made us lose?” Joohyun fired back at her. Seungwan pouted. “How about I pay you with cuddles and plenty of kisses for the rest of our lives, Love?”Joohyun sputters a comeback but could only blush while she heard their friends’ mixed cheers and groans with Sooyoung the loudest. “See? I told you they’re already together. Now, pay up.” She grinned victoriously while she held out her palms towards the grumbling Seulgi and protesting Yeri.“But that’s just their usual disgusting selves.” Yeri turned towards their way. “You’re really together now? Like dating each other?” Yeri asked them at the same time as Seungwan exclaimed beside her that got Joohyun’s ear ringing.“You bet on us?!” “Yes, and what about it? You’re moving too slow. Just be thankful that we haven’t plotted anything to get you together yet.” Sooyoung answered her while grinning so wide when Seulgi handed her some bills. Seungwan looked at her, waiting for her reaction. She just sighed because their friends’ betting on them is just something that they would do. “Yes, Yeri, we’re together now.” She turned to Seungwan and pressed a kiss on her girlfriend’s lips. “Okay, I’m not paying to see that.” She heard Yeri at the background.“I’m glad that you’re together now but please, for the love of God, please, stop doing that in front of us.” Sooyoung grumbled as she gathered her things.“Bye, lovebirds. Please do it in the bed room.” Yeri snickered while picking up the chips she stole from their stocks. “Yah! Kim Yerim, you’re gonna pay for that.” Joohyun shouted at Yeri as the other girl made her way out of their apartment.“Bye, Unnie! Bye, Wannie!” Seulgi beamed at them then followed the other two out.--- She was brought back to the present with a kiss on the side of her head. She continued mixing the pancake mix while Seungwan makes her way around their kitchen before grabbing a water bottle out of their fridge, taking a big gulp out of it before returning to where Joohyun is standing, hugging her from the back. Joohyun leaned into Seungwan’s. Seungwan always had the warmest hugs ever since, it never fails to make her feel relaxed especially after a rough day at work. The first thing she would seek when she would come home is Seungwan’s hugs. Seungwan took over her task of mixing the batter because the kitchen would always be Seungwan’s. She would usually shoo Joohyun away from the kitchen whenever she was home. Joohyun would usually just let her, just like now, because she loved Seungwan’s cooking. Aside from Seungwan’s warm hugs
