Chapter 9 (1/2)
"So you guys have been extremely busy lately, I've heard."
"Well, we're always busy, really. We don't get too much time off," Dongwoo answered.
Halfway through the interview Sunggyu was ready to walk off. He hadn't said anything unless he was specifically asked a question and he was in a lot of pain. He couldn't stop thinking of Tae Mu. He felt angry but at the same time he couldn't help thinking that it was partly his fault. He was the one who suggested Tae Mu have a drink and so really, it must have partly been his fault that Tae Mu was so drunk, and ending up hitting him.
"Sunggyu? I see you have a nasty black eye. How'd you get it?"
Sunggyu mentally smacked himself for not paying enough attention and began to explain, "I was at a club with my boyfriend, and him and another guy got in a fight. The guy was hitting on me. I was trying to stop their fight and uh, this happened."
"Ouch. But you must have a pretty good boyfriend if he got that angry over someone else hitting on you."
Sungyeol spoke up, "Yeah, he's really great! Sunggyu Hyung hardly spends time with us anymore!"
The audience laughed and Hoya spoke, "He really appreciates Infinite and the work we do as well."
The mc nodded and Sunggyu leaned back, happily letting the other members take over the conversation although he felt weird hearing how much most of them seemed to like Tae Mu. The only person who seemed not to, was Woohyun. Sunggyu didn't understand. Just when he was sure Woohyun wouldn't bother him about what was really going on, he goes and brings it all up again!
"Sunggyu?"
Sunggyu looked up, "Huh?"
Woohyun laughed, "He's so out of it, he went to sleep late and had to wake up really early. Too busy with his boyfriend!"
Sunggyu sat up, sending Woohyun a glare, "Woohyun ah! That's none of your business."
Woohyun laughed again, though he felt anger inside, "Sorry Hyung."
The interview continued and when it was over Sunggyu walked off without saying goodbye to anyone. He was too annoyed and in pain to care. He got to the dressing room and his manager followed him in.
"Sunggyu! What's your problem? Why'd you leave like that?"
Sunggyu, getting his stuff together and facing away from his manager, answered, "Sorry. Like I said, I'm just not feeling well so-"
"But you said you were okay to do the interview anyway. So Sunggyu you have to be a little nicer. You were hardly even paying any attention the whole time!"
The rest of the members walked in and sensed the manager's annoyance at Sunggyu.
"I know, I'm sorry! I just need some rest or something! I thought I would be okay, but I'm not. I'll take it easy now okay?"
"That means you'll stay away from your boyfriend for awhile? He's distracting you too much!"
"What? No! That's not true. I've just been very busy, and I don't feel well. That's it. I'm not distracted at all."
Woohyun shot him a look of annoyance and Sunggyu glared back, "Maybe I'd be a little less stressed if I didn't have you bothering me Woohyun."
"Oh really? So you're going to use me as your excuse? I'm not the one who's been getting into fights and drinking Sunggyu, I've been practicing. I haven't seen you doing much of that lately."
"I can't!"
"Right, because of you're back. So instead of taking it easy and healing quickly you're going out and making it harder to heal! Real smart of you Leader Gyu!"
"Guys, come on. Don't fight like this," Dongwoo cut in.
Sunggyu didn't say anything. He looked away. He was way too angry at Woohyun. Their manager spoke up, "Here, Sunggyu, you're finished first, why don't you go wait in the van?"
He handed the keys to Sunggyu who grabbed them and stormed out. There was a small crowd of people outside and Sunggyu walked past quickly, ignoring them. He jumped into the van and plopped down in the passenger seat. Finding himself alone for the first time all day, Sunggyu found it harder and harder to resist calling Tae Mu. He sighed, leaning back and covering his face with his hands. He felt like his head was a jumble of confused thoughts. He couldn't set them straight. His hand began reaching for his phone, and before Sunggyu knew it, he was turning it back on, finding more missed calls. He stared, going over Tae Mu's number in his head, feeling his chest tighten. As he was about to start dialing, the door opened and his manager got in, followed by the other members. Sunggyu began to calm down, putting his phone back in his pocket as the van started moving. There were a couple of quiet conversations but the ride was pretty much silent.
As Sunggyu sat in the awkward silence, he soon found himself not being able to stop his fingers from dialing Tae Mu's number. It rang a couple times and then Tae Mu answered.
"Hello, Sunggyu?!"
"Uh yes. It's me." Sungygu cleared his throat, looking out the window, feeling everyone's eyes on him.
"I-I don't remember everything. But I know I hit you Sunggyu and I can't believe that I did that to you. You have no idea how freaked out I was when I woke up this morning.""Yeah..I get it. I don't think it was all your fault."
"Sunggyu, I-"
"Listen, I can't really go anywhere today so why don't you just call me later and we can talk."
"Okay. Sunggyu, I-um.."
"Yeah?"
"I really care about you. I..I know I don't really deserve your trust right now, but Sunggyu, you have to give me another chance. I really am-"
"I care about you too."Sunggyu almost thought he was going to pass out from embarassment. It just came out, and Sunggyu didn't even realize just how much he cared until he said it. Maybe that was why he was having trouble staying mad at Tae Mu.
He felt his manager's eyes bore into him even more and in the back Woohyun, hearing this, tried hard not to jump out of the van. He couldn't believer his ears. They sounded like they were practically a day away from proclaiming their love for eachother! They hadn't even known eachother for a couple of months and now....Dongwoo leaned over whispering, "You still want time?"Woohyun glared, "I don't wanna talk about it."Dongwoo squeezed his hand and turned away.
Sunggyu hung up and stared ahead, not knowing what to do.
"So, you're not going to go out then?" his manager asked.
Sunggyu sighed, "I don't know. If I do, it'll just be for some food or something. Right near by. Don't worry."
His manager didn't answer and Sunggyu sat lost in his thoughts. He heard some joking in the back and was glad for it; atleast some members seemed to be back to normal. L and Dongwoo were joking around and then Sungyeol let out a yelp and kicked the back of Sunggyu's seat, causing a searing jolt of pain to shoot through his back and he let out a loud shout, turning around to smack Sungyeol on the arm.
"HEY! ARE YOU CRAZY!?"
Sungyeol apologized and Sunggyu turned back around, wincing and rubbing his back. He remembered the pills he had in his jacket and he reached in his pocket, pulling them out. He took a couple and then the van stopped. Everyone piled out but his manager pulled Sunggyu back, "Wait a minute."
Sunggyu sat, staring at his manager, "What?"
"You're back's hurting you that much? You need pills for it? Did you see a doctor?"
Sunggyu, suddenly realizing that he shouldn't have let his manager see the pills because he didn't have an excuse for how he got them, stammered, "U-uh, I sort of, I didn't have time to see a d-doctor so I kind of borrowed them from a friend."
His manager gave him a hard look, "You know you shouldn't do that. If your back is that bad then you should see a doctor. You can make time. I'm giving you permission to see one myself. Did you reinjure it?"
Sunggyu nodded, "Kind of. I just haven't been that careful with it."
"Sunggyu, come on, you know better.."
"I know. I'll be more careful. I don't think it's a really big deal though. I'll try to see a doctor but it probably wouldn't work out with their schedule and mine. You know how it is. I'll see ya!"
Sunggyu jumped out of the van, walking away quickly. There was no way he could go to a doctor. His stomach was bruised a little and his back looked pretty nasty. He didn't want his doctor to start asking him how it ended up that way. It might get back to his manager and he didn't want that to happen.
He walked into the dorm, and when he went in he noticed the conversation seemed to die down. Everyone knew how angry Sunggyu and Woohyun were and they didn't want to piss them off more. Sunggyu walked into his room to find Woohyun going through his clothes. He turned to Sunggyu and then turned back his clothes, ignoring the elder. Sunggyu, wanting to change, thought it was the perfect time since Woohyun wasn't facing him. He began to take off his shirt and as he grabbed another one, he suddenly found himself dizzy from the pills as they started to kick in and he almost tripped, bumping into a stack of books and cursing. As Sunggyu immediately tried to stop the stack from dropping Woohyun spun around, hearing the commotion and caught Sunggyu's back right in his face.
"Sunggyu! What the hell happened with your back!?"
Sunggyu froze, and couldn't turn around, knowing his stomach didn't look any better either. He quickly put on his shirt and turned around just as Woohyun got to him, placing his hand on Sunggyu's back. Sunggyu flinched and moved away, "Ah, I was just telling our manager. How I haven't been that careful with my back. I was at a noraebang yesterday actually. And I was dancing, I fell and-"
"Do you really want to keep going on with this stupid story?" Woohyun asked angrily.
"What. I'm telling you the truth." Sunggyu cringed inside, he knew that his excuse was one of the most stupid things he could ever come up with. But he just knew Woohyun would completely freak.
"I can't believe how easily you're lying to me! And you're story is such crap Sunggyu! You know it!"
"Woohyun......"
"He hit you again didn't he? Tae Mu?"
"I'm not going to listen to this," Sunggyu said continuing to change and ignoring Woohyun.
"Seriously? Sunggyu, you do realize how bad this is right? And the fact that you can't even admit it-"
"Can you just shut up!? I'm tired of hearing you complain over and over again! One moment you're saying how you'll be more understanding and not judge and the next you're accusing Tae Mu of hitting me? Just stay out of it!""Sunggyu, these kinds of things happen. You just get blinded, and you can't admit what's really happening to yourself. Sunggyu this happens to a lot of people. You just have to talk to someone, you ha-"Sunggyu began to walk away to the bathroom, trying his best to ignore Woohyun. Woohyun stared after him, trying to calm down.
Sunggyu got to the bathroom and closed the door, letting out a huge sigh of relief. This sucked. He thought for awhile, in silence, finally deciding that maybe Tae Mu deserved one last chance. And he would make sure to change Woohyun's opinion. He needed to get Woohyun to see that he was really a good person. He took out his cellphone and dialed Tae Mu's number.
"Hello?"
"Hey, it's Sunggyu. Are you going to be off work soon?"
"Uh, in a couple hours, yes."
