Why does she hate me so much?

"What are you doing here?!" Hae Lynn pointed at Kyungsoo who ignored her. "Alright everyone! Warm up in groups of five! Joon Myun!""Yes coach?""Can I entrust you with Kyungsoo?""Yes sir." Joon Myun smiled as he leaded Kyungsoo to join Sehun, Nicole and Hae Lynn's circle. Nicole nudged Hae Lynn by her arm and she looked up to meet with Kyungsoo's eyes. Kyungsoo looked away and snapped, "Aren't we going to warm up?""Can you even run?" Kyungsoo asked and Sehun scoffed. "I believe you're talking to the one of the best runners we have." Nicole spoke up, defending Sehun who thanked her. "G-Guys, let's not fight. It's the first training of the year." Joon Myun reasoned out and Hae Lynn looked at Joon Myun. "It's hopeless." She mouthed the words to him."Oh really? One of the best? Who is the other one?""Do you really need to know?" Nicole asked and Kyungsoo smirked. "All I know is it's not you." Kyungsoo pointed at Nicole who gaped her mouth open."What is going on here?" The coach spoke up behind all of them. The five of them tensed up but soon started to warm up. After 10 good minutes of warming up, there stood the coach with a clipboard and stopwatch to time all the runner's timing. They have to run their best today to determine which group they'll be going under. The coach will be the one grouping them but at the end of the day, the runners would always switch groups among themselves."Sehun, fighting!" Nicole and Hae Lynn cheered for Sehun who smirked at them. He winked at them and Kyungsoo simply scoffed. "Is he that good of a runner?" Kyungsoo asked and Joon Myun shook his head. "You'll be surprised.""On your mark," The coach shouted and Sehun got into position."Get set,""Go!" Sehun immediately took off and sprinted around the whole field for a complete round. Everyone cheered when he was finished with one round and the coach took down his time. "How long did I do this time, coach?""Later I'll announce it with the rest. Sit down.""C'mon." Sehun pouted a little, attempting with a bit of aegyo."Aww..." The coach smiled a little. "No." He deadpanned and Sehun scoffed. "Fine."After 30 minutes, they were down to just two people left. Kyungsoo and Hae Lynn."Whose next?" The coach asked and everyone pointed at Kyungsoo and Hae Lynn. "Kyungsoo! You're next!"Kyungsoo shrugged it off and made his way down from the bench. He jumped up and down a few times before he got in position."On your mark," You can do this Kyungsoo, just run for your damn life. He thought quickly to boost up his self esteem."Fighting Do Kyungsoo!" He heard a voice shouting and his head shot at the direction where Hae Lynn was standing. She smiled at him and showed him a thumbs up. He gulped and face forward. Something in him made him want to run further and faster than he ever ran before. Sure he was somewhat an athlete in his previous school but never a runner. This would be his first try."Get set," He faced forward and gulped. The other runners were paying close attention. If Kyungsoo could run just as fast as Sehun or Joon Myun, the chances of them winning Jeonghwa High School would double up."Go!" Kyungsoo pushed himself off the ground and ran with all his might. He's never ran so fast before in his life. The little cheer Hae Lynn shouted from the bench rang at the back of his mind and he pushed himself harder to run. Everyone gasped when his speed increased as he completed one round. He panted as he stood beside the coach who gave him a pat on the shoulder. "You're on the runner's team. We could use a runner like you.""Wah!" Joon Myun shouted as he ran down from the benches to hug Kyungsoo. "You did it!" Joon Myun cheered and everyone clapped for the new member joining the running team. Kyungsoo, who wasn't used to all of this affection and touching pushed Joon Myun away. "Oh, sorry. I forgot you're a little uncomfortable.""More than just a little." Kyungsoo gulped and walked away to sit down on the bench."Alright, Kim Hae Lynn!" The coach shouted and Hae Lynn froze. It's been a long time since she ran."The best for last!" Nicole shouted and Sehun laughed beside her. "That's true."Hae Lynn breathed out heavily as she walked down from the rows of benches. When she reached the ground, Kyungsoo muttered a soft "Good luck."She looked over her shoulder to widen her eyes at him. "W-What did you say?""I said good luck." Kyungsoo snapped at her and she gulped. "That's not how you wish someone good luck. This is how you do it. Good luck Hae Lynn!" Joon Myun beamed and raised a fist in the air. Hae Lynn smiled and nodded her head twice before she made her way on the track. She got in position and she closed her eyes. Happy thoughts, happy thoughts.Kyungsoo's eyes widened as he focused on how Hae Lynn looked like. With her eyes closed like that, he could easily see that she was so determined, so calm and so... endearing. The way she cracked her neck left and right as she got into position. He mentally slapped himself for thinking that but they were his thoughts anyway, no one else would know... except for you guys reading of course. "Is she the best runner in this team?" Kyungsoo asked and Joon Myun laughed softly. Kyungsoo glared at Joon Myun who let his smile fall. "Y-Yeah. Even though she wouldn't admit it, we all know she's sort of like our golden star in the team.""On your mark,"Just think about that time when mom used to play with you."Get set,"And the way you would run towards dad when he came home."Go!"With that being said she kicked off just like that as if she was a rocket. Her eyes shot open with determination and she ran around the field once without the thought of how long she was taking. She was just running as fast as she could and she pushed herself as far as possible. When she finished one lap, everyone cheered for her. She simply bowed a little and caught her breath by sitting down on the grass. Everyone sat in a circle on the grass with the coach in the middle of the circle."I would like to welcome Kyungsoo to the team. Everyone please make him feel comfortable.""Yes coach!""Now I will read out your timing."Runner after runner, they got more nervous. No one wanted to be the last but that couldn't be avoided. Someone had to be last but it wasn't one of Hae Lynn's friends or herself. "Kim Joon Myun,"Nicole's breath hitched. "75 seconds.""Nicole Jung.""Oh crap." Nicole cursed softly but smiled when coach announced, "73 seconds.""You did good Nicole!" Joon Myun ruffled her hair and she looked away with a smile along with a tint of pink on her cheeks. "Oh Sehun,""68.5 seconds. Not bad. You're faster now." Sehun smiled and nodded once, waiting for Hae Lynn's result.But everyone was shocked when they announced Hae Lynn's name first, not Kyungsoo's. The coach was known for announcing from the slowest to the fastest. So leaving Kyungsoo last would be... "It can't be..." Sehun muttered softly and Hae Lynn gulped."64.2 seconds, Lynn. What happened to you? You're slower now." The coach nagged and she sighed. "Sorry coach."The coach waved a hand and eyed her for a while before he looked at Kyungsoo."The fastest timing, Do Kyungsoo with the time, 63.1 seconds."Everyone's eyes widened but slowly they applaused for him. That was the fastest anyone here has ever ran before, apart from Hae Lynn. Kyungsoo's eyes widened but he tried not to show it. "Now get training! There's no time for messing around! Start with the hurdles!" After training, Kyungsoo, Sehun, Hae Lynn, Nicole and Joon Myun were the only five left. Kyungsoo was of course with Joon Myun and Nicole was with the other two. All of them were ready to leave when, "Hae Lynn and Kyungsoo, down here now." Coach called out and the two of them glanced awkwardly at one another before looking down at the coach from the benches. "Don't make me repeat myself."Immediately the two of them walked down to stand in front of their coach. "Yes?" Hae Lynn spoke up softly and the coach was staring at the board he was holding onto."I want the two of you to pair up for the pair relay race. And it is compulsory for the two of you to come for our training trip coming up."Hae Lynn looked at Kyungsoo instantly. He had a blank face on. "B-But coach! What about Sehun?""What about me?" Sehun asked as he popped up between Hae Lynn and the coach. "Sehun, Kyungsoo is pairing up with Hae Lynn for the pair relay event. Kyungsoo's time is remarkable and with Hae Lynn's timing together, they could steal the first spot."Sehun didn't feel good, letting Kyungsoo have the spot but knowing this is for the team, he was alright with it. "Whatever." Sehun breathed out and Hae Lynn's eyes widened. "Sehun! We've been training for this for a year now!" She raised her voice as she shook his arm vigrously. "Well, someone else has better timing than me. It's best for the team, Lynn." He patted her head smirked when Kyungsoo's eyes darkened watching Hae Lynn disagree for them to partner up. Kyungsoo wouldn't admit it, but he does want to partner with Hae Lynn, even if she's crazy and everything. There was something about her that rather pulled him into her than all the other girls. Sehun pulled her in for a hug, "Lynn, we'll just train for the four by four relay team. I'm sure we'll win that together instead." He broke the hug and ruffled her hair, "So agree to it. It'll be fine. And we'll have fun during the training trip.""What's a training trip?" Kyungsoo asked, not letting Hae Lynn give her answer yet."A training trip is where all of us go for a trip, obviously. This year we plan to go to the beach like how we did last year. Maybe around Jeju Island but we're not sure yet. During the training trip, your stamina will be tested and trainings will be done at the beach. And Miss Hae Lynn,"She lifted her head, with a soft "Huh?""I'm still waiting."She breathed out heavily and Nicole along with Joon Myun nodded at her, agreeing with Sehun that this was for the best. She turned to look at the coach and gave a soft "Fine." Kyungsoo didn't even want to stay around any longer that he walked away. Not until he stopped just because he could leave the school compartment when his phone started ringing. "Mmm.""Kyungie-ah! Today we'll be having dinner with the Kim's! Walk back with Hae Lynn and be quick!""Mom-""No buts!""God damn it." Kyungsoo cursed as his mother hung up the phone before he could even object anything. He shoved his phone into his pocket and turned around only to see Sehun slinging his arm around Hae Lynn.They didn't say they were a couple, so...Kyungsoo walked back towards Hae Lynn walking with Nicole, Sehun and Joon Myun. They halted their tracks when they saw Kyungsoo walking towards them. He grabbed Hae Lynn's wrist and said, "You have somewhere to be right now."Her eyes widened and she tried to pull her hand back but he simply dragged her away from her friends."H-Hey!" Hae Lynn raised her voice and looked over her shoulder while she was dragged away."Aren't you guys going to help me?!"Joon Myun, Sehun and Nicole found this rather amusing as they shook their heads at the same time."Nicole Jung! Oh Sehun! Kim Joon Myun!" She shouted all in one go but Kyungsoo simply dragged her away faster until their figures disappeared from the three of them."And this is my cue to leave." Sehun spoke up and saluted the two of them before he jogged away."S-So..." Nicole breathed out and Joon Myun smiled at her. "Shall we?" He asked, gesturing her to walk.She smiled and nodded once before walking beside him."Let me go!"Kyungsoo decided to let her wrist go and she rubbed her wrists. "Can't you tell me where we're going?" She snapped at him and it surprised him a little at her sudden change of tone."We're having dinner together. My mother's orders.""Well I don't think she asked you to drag me like that.""How do you know?""Because she's nice." Hae Lynn simply blurted out and Kyungsoo froze for a moment. Hae Lynn's lips parted, wanting to apologize for making it look like as if she insulted Kyungsoo but that wasn't what she meant. Stress was building up in her and everything was making her lose her patience bit by bit. Kyungsoo doing all of this was just making her lose her marbles. She started to feel jumpy when he was gripping onto her wrist, when he wished her good luck, but all in all, it was him in general.Not sure if this was mutual liking as friends or partners or something a little more than that, she just wanted to ignore it.Kyungsoo gulped and he simply looked away from her to walk back home without waiting for Hae Lynn."K-Kyungsoo!" She called him out as she chased after him after coming to her senses to realize she has to apologize.Why does she hate me so much?
