Chapter Seven : No Freaking Way

"Try to stop this, Hae." Sehun taunted as he dribbled the ball in front of her. She smirked as she ran around in circles around him, confusing him and it was working. When he held the ball with two of his hands, Hae Lynn swiftly snatched the ball and aimed at the hoop to make an in. She jumped up and down a few times as she grinned at Sehun who had his mouth gaped open. Since when she got good in basketball?"I've been practicing." She smiled at him and he chuckled softly. "I can tell. Do you want to join us for a friendly game?""With Kyungsoo too? No thanks." She waved a hand as she sat down at the side of the court on the bench. Soon after, Kyungsoo arrived with Baekhyun and Kai chasing after him. Kyungsoo panted as he reached the court only to see Sehun sitting beside Hae Lynn with an arm over her shoulder as if they were a couple. Kyungsoo narrowed his eyes at them as he stepped onto the court. "I believe we came here for a match, not a date.""Is he always like this?" Sehun whispered and Hae Lynn shrugged her shoulders. "I have no idea.""Brat." Sehun muttered under his breath and he got up from the bench. "Hey! Were you calling me or him a brat?!" Hae Lynn shouted when Sehun simply stuck his tongue out when he was on the court with Kai, Baekhyun and Kyungsoo. "Are you in a relationship with her?" Kyungsoo asked as Hae Lynn simply looked up at the skies finding funny shapes in the sky, completely oblivious that two boys were talking about her. Kai eyed Baekhyun who was beside him. "I told you he likes her." Kai whispered."And what if we are?" Sehun spoke up, breaking Kai and Baekhyun from their little conversation.Kai and Baekhyun's head shot back at Sehun who simply smirked. "Y-Yah, you never told us you two were together." Baekhyun breathed out as he poked Sehun's arm but Sehun easily ignored it. "Can't you just answer me?" Kyungsoo snapped."Well you didn't answer me.""I asked you first."Sehun shrugged his shoulders and pointed at Hae Lynn. "Go ask her yourself.""Forget it. Let's play." Kyungsoo waved a hand as Kai and Baekhyun gave looks at one another."Drop it. What's between you and Hae Lynn?" Kai asked as he was walking back with Sehun after dropping Baekhyun and Kyungsoo off. Sehun smirked and shook his head. "Do you really want to know?""Well that's why I asked." Kai snapped and Sehun chuckled softly, thinking it was amusing how people could easily think they were a couple just because he didn't answer a simple 'yes' or 'no'. What amused him even more was the fact that Kyungsoo was jealous even though he would probably swear to himself that he wasn't jealous. Sehun stopped walking and Kai followed his cue a few steps after. Kai turned to look at Sehun who motioned him to come closer with two fingers. Kai leaned closer and Sehun whispered, "Nothing."Kai hissed and leaned away before playfully kicking Sehun's shin. "What the hell, Sehun?""There's nothing between us. We're just close friends. Nothing more.""Are you sure?""If you don't believe me, don't ask me. Bye." Sehun waved a hand as he walked ahead of Kai. Kai held a hand beside his mouth to shout but before Kai could even shout at Sehun for ditching him like that, Sehun simply raised a hand up and pointed to his right. Kai turned his head to the right only to realize that Sehun dropped him off at his house first. Kai let his hand fall to the side and he shook his head, murmuring a soft "Bye.""How was your little playdate?" Hae Lynn's grandmother asked as Hae Lynn came in the house. She shook her head a little. "Sitting down there for two hours doing nothing is really boring.""Go wash up and come down for dinner, alright?" Hae Lynn nodded her head and left to follow her grandmother's instructions.Hae Lynn lied flat on her back on the bed with her phone in her hands. She was in a middle of texting Nicole just as she finished her dinner. Her phone buzzed again and she put the phone in front of her face to read Nicole's text.'So you're living next door to him?! Did you go over? ;)'

From : Nicole || Received at 7.56p.m.'Yeah but I probably won't go there again. He hates me to my guts. :p'

Sent at 7.58p.m.'Guys are like that. Who knows he has a crush on you? Hmm? :D'

From : Nicole || Received at 7.59p.m.'Shouldn't I be saying that to you about you and Joon Myun? Hmm Nicole? Or should I say, Mrs. Kim Joon Myun? :p'

Sent at 8.00p.m.'Shut up! D: I'm going to sleep now! Blah! See you tomorrow! <3'

From : Nicole || Received at 8.02p.m.Hae Lynn chuckled and put her phone on the bed before getting up from her bed to walk towards her study table. She sat down by the table and looked out her window only to see Kyungsoo standing in his room. Kyungsoo then walked towards his table to sit down by it. His window was directly opposite hers, and so happened, his table was also by his window. He lifted up his chin only to meet eyes with Hae Lynn through the window. Kyungsoo gulped and looked away. He lifted his chin up a little only to see Hae Lynn writing something.

'Hi! :D'

Hae Lynn put up the A4 paper for Kyungsoo to read. She lowered down the paper when she could see Kyungsoo writing back to her.

'Bye'

With that being said, Kyungsoo closed his curtains. Hae Lynn's lips gaped open as she crushed the paper and threw it at his direction at the window only to let the paper ball bounce back to hit her nose instead. She rubbed her nose and sighed. She looked over her shoulder when she could hear her grandmother laughing at her. "H-How long were you there?""Long enough to watch your little conversation with Mrs. Do's son." Her grandmother replied, sitting down on Hae Lynn's bed. Hae Lynn turned around on the chair to look at her grandmother. "Is Mrs. Do nice?"Her grandmother nodded her head and smiled, "She's a very nice woman. Just like her son."Hae Lynn's lips parted even wider as she pointed over her shoulder at the window with her thumb. "Kyungsoo is nice?"Her grandmother laughed once again before getting up to make her way towards he granddaughter. "Hae, give Kyungsoo some time. I know he may seem like a stubborn and cold guy now but it takes time for a person to open up to another person. Especially when he's gone through so much."Hae Lynn sighed and looked up to her grandmother. "You're a sweet and nice girl. Don't let Kyungsoo's personality change the way you would normally treat people. Kyungsoo doesn't have much friends and Mrs. Do loved you from the moment she met eyes with you today. She would love it if you could try to be Kyungsoo's friend."As much as Hae Lynn want to avoid him now, her grandmother had a point. Hae Lynn's bubbly and loving personality would always change people. If it's a girl, girls would want to be her friend and if it's a guy, the guy would probably fall for her. Even when she rejects them, they would still end up being her friend. "Fine... I'll... give it another shot." Hae Lynn mumbled and her grandmother hugged her tight. Hae Lynn got up to hug her grandmother properly. She rested her chin on her grandmother's shoulder, murmuring a soft "I love you."Her grandmother broke the hug and kissed her forehead. "I love you too."When her grandmother left her room she sat down by her table. She looked at the photo frame on the table before a smile crept on her face. "I bet you would want me to do what grandma told me, huh?" Hae Lynn muttered softly as she rested her elbows on the table."Do you think he'll be nice to me anytime soon?" She rested her chin on her palm as she stared at the photo frame. She shook her head and sighed."Yeah, I don't think so either. But I guess I have to try."Hae Lynn took out her books from her bag to place it on the table. When she opened her math textbook to do her math homework, the drawing she was working on fell onto the floor. She got up and picked it up as she stared at it. It was almost done and all she needed to do was sign at the bottom right. She walked towards her table and signed it with her pencil before she opened her closet. She pulled out a board with similar drawings of the portraits she drew. She pinned it on the board and she smiled before putting it back in the closet.The next day at school, Hae Lynn was already seated in her class as she waited for Kyungsoo to enter. She texted Nicole last night not to wait for her at school and Nicole demanded for an explanation during recess. The door opened and Kyungsoo came in the class, causing girls to squeal once again when he came in. Hae Lynn turned to look at him from the moment he came in. He sat down and he settled down with his bag on the ground as he leaned his back against the chair. He turned his head to meet with Hae Lynn's eyes and he was caught off guard."I'm sorry about how we met and everything. Let's put everything behind us and start fresh. I'm Kim Hae Lynn but you can call me Lynn." She offered a handshake and Kyungsoo simply glanced at her hand before he met her eyes again. "Do Kyungsoo. But you can call me Kyungsoo." He gently pushed her hand away. He was rather taken back of how she completely decided to start fresh with him. People back from where he came from couldn't care less if anyone was rude to him. They would just leave him like that to be friendless but since he came here, he had friends on the first day of school as if he was a rare jewel.At first he wanted to just push her away but when he thought about it again, what good would that come out from? His mom seemed pretty happy having Hae Lynn's grandmother as her friend so the possibilities of them meeting each other would be high. If they were to keep bickering with one another, it would be troublesome and tiresome for the both of them. Being on good terms were the best thing to go for."So what do you like to do?" Hae Lynn asked and Kyungsoo turned to raise an eyebrow at her. She blinked at him when he wasn't answering. "Hello?" She waved a hand in front of his face and he gripped onto her wrist. Her eyes widened when he put her hand down. "Just because our parents are friends, doesn't mean we have to."She gulped and pulled her hand away from his before looking away to face front. This was going to be harder than I thought.Kyungsoo sighed as he looked up to the ceiling. God. Was I being too harsh?"Yah! Kim Hae Lynn! Run faster!" Nicole shouted across the field at Hae Lynn who was currently running with all her might towards where all the runners were. Hae Lynn dropped her bag onto the pile of bags on the ground as she stood behind Nicole, panting. She was resting her hands on her knees with her body bent down to catch her breath."Kim Hae Lynn?" The coach called out, taking the attendance of the runners here."She's not here." "I think she's at the library with Kyungsoo. They have to arrange books everyday after school.""Isn't that the new kid?""I'm here!" Hae Lynn frantically waved her hands in the air, causing all the runners in front to turn and look at her. They laughed when she fell backwards onto the ground because she was tired. Sehun shook his head and crouched down beside her with Nicole on her other side. "I'm surprised you made it on time." Sehun commented and Nicole laughed. "Yeah, I thought you were on your little date with the new kid?" Nicole chimed in and Hae Lynn groaned."S-Shut... up, Sehun. I-It's... not a date." Hae Lynn managed to speak through her heavy breathing."Here, get up." Sehun stood up and Nicole followed his cue to help Hae Lynn up."Alright team! We have 19 runners altogether this year.""What about Jee Hin?""She left for cheerleading instead.""Ahn Ha?""She changed schools.""But they were the best two runners we have!""Not to worry, we still have Sehun," The coach said as he pointed at Sehun sitting beside Hae Lynn. Everyone cheered and Sehun held a hand up to thank everyone. "We have Hae Lynn and Nicole too." Sehun spoke up, causing everyone to widen their eyes at Sehun's comment. Remember, not everyone knows about their friendship but once you're in the running team, you would still find it hard to believe that the three of them were close friends considering that they would act like acquaintances based on the normal hi's and bye's during school hours."Seriously, how are the three of you best friends?" One of the runner commented and Nicole laughed. "We have no other choice." Nicole spoke up and a laugh came from behind her. Nicole furrowed her eyebrows and looked over her shoulder only to let her lips gape open. "J-Joon Myun..."He smiled and winked at her. "Coach! I brought a new runner!"The coach smiled and eyed the boy beside Joon Myun. "Introduce yourself, young one.""Kyungsoo. Do Kyungsoo."Hae Lynn's eyes widened and she turned around instantly only to look at Kyungsoo's blank face staring at the coach. "No,""Freaking," Nicole added."Way." Sehun, Nicole and Hae Lynn chorused together at the same time.
