These Two (1/1)

December 14/Key The wheels of my suitcase rolled on the floor with a whirring sound. I transferred my handbag and put it on my right wrist to twist the doorknob. “Sure you got everything you need?”I glanced at Jonghyun-hyung. “Yep. I’m more than ready,”“You suuuuure?” he squinted one of his eyes and leaned in close to me, with a voice that hinted teasing.I frowned. “I’m sure,”Coming from the kitchen, carrying a glass of milk, entered Onew-hyung. “Are you and HyunMi okay now?”My heart sank, but did well in concealing it. “More or less,”Silence passed between the three of us, and if it weren’t for Taemin it would’ve continued longer. “Hyuuuuuung! Good luck!” he came trotting towards me and I rubbed his head which made him look childish despite of his now manly demeanor.“Give noona a break from your nagging, alright?” he jokingly suggested. My two hyungs turned stiff at his speech (Taemin didn’t know about it) but I whisked the acting perfectly well, with a roll of the eyes and a chuckle, “More like she’s nagging at me now, Taemin,”“Eh?” he laughed.“I ought to go now. Thirty minutes travel,” I stated in dismissal, and opened the door.“Annyeong Key~”“Annyeong Key-hyung!”“Bye Key!!!” They waved at me.  Images wheezed past me as I looked out the window, and with every kilometer that we drew nearer, the worse my agony got. But I must not back out. I’ll disgrace myself forever in my own eyes if I don’t do this. “Key,”“Yup?”Nicole sighed with a smile. “You okay?”Do I look like I am? For some reason, I wasn’t able to give her my answer for I knew that at this moment, she was seeing through me.“That’s not really gonna work now, is it?”I shook my head. “The results are not satisfactory,”“Why not try another method?”“The variable is not responding in accordance with the predictions,”“Then the theorem is falsified.” We looked at each other, and broke in a hearty laugh. “We talk like nerds,”She laughed some more. “Yeah.” When the laughter subsided, we resumed the glum air. “Key, you know…”I shook my head. “I’m still hoping, Cole-ah… that everything would be back to normal. Well, I can’t blame her…it’s my fault,”“Did you do your part?”“I did…I guess…”She shook my shoulder once. “Answer me truthfully. Did you say sorry?”“Of course I did!”“But what did she say?”“She’s as prickly as a nutshell,”She sighed, and slammed her back on the back-rest. “You may want to fix that before you get to work,”“I know.” The next minutes passed in silence, and I wanted to tell them that now I wasn’t the offender, but to keep HyunMi’s secret (yes, yes; that she kissed Dongwoon) I kept my mouth shut. The van pulled over for a stop, and so did my heart. I reluctantly stepped out of the van, and dragged my feet to going in the mansion. “Welcome!” Miss Lee affably said with a spread of the arms, which would’ve pleased any beholder.“Annyeonghasseyo,” we all bowed. We all piled in the West Wing lobby to have the meeting there. Pointing out the obvious, Miss Lee started, “Well, we’re all gathered here today for the painting of your respective pieces. You’ll be staying for a fortnight, with your schedules still in tact. Only difference is, you’ll be coming home here,” she smiles. We nodded our heads with this, though I was still in a stupor. Me.And HyunMi.Under the same roof. THE.SAME.FREAKING.ROOF. “Aaaaaaand that’s not the end of it; to cut this short, the boys will be on the East Wing, and the girls will be here in the West. Is that okay with you?”We nodded.“So, that settles it then,” Miss Lee clapped her hands. “We’re all ready for a fortnight of art and fun!”  HyunMiI was wiping the mixing plate when the door creaked open. I yelped, and almost threw it upward. “It’s just me, relax,” Gikwang-oppa chuckled.I gestured throwing the thing at him.“You thought it was Key, ne?”I wanted to deny it vehemently but something stopped me. “Okay. You’re right.”He settled himself beside me. “How are you?” he asked, his eyes fixated on the paintbrush he was holding.“I’m…fine…”“You sure?”I looked at him. “What do you want?”“Nothing in particular. By the way, I heard about it.”Oh hell naw. “Y-you did?” I gasped.“Why of course!”I shook my head violently. “I’m sorry, oppa! I didn’t mean it! But we just fell into it—I didn’t know it till it hit me! I’M SORRY! I’M VERY SORRY! I DIDN’T MEAN TO KISS DONGWOON! I KNOW I’M DESPICABLE I’M SORRY! I‘M VERY SORRY!” I cried in paroxysm, with the wild demonstration of the hands. For a change, I realized he actually had eyes. I mean, they’re very small and look like they’re in constant squint. “You…what?” he blurted, with wide incredulous eyes.I looked up at him with a troubled look. “Um…”“HYUNMI, YOU KISSED MAKNAE?” he stood up. He shook my shoulders. “Say it again. did you—““—I did! We did! And I’m sorry!” “What’s with all the noise?” an annoyed Kibum entered the room with a dark frown.“Um…” oppa and I both stammered. “She did, hyung. He did. They did.” He said flatly, closing the door behind him with an unnecessary bang.Oppa’s eyes travelled from Kibum’s deadly serious face to my stupefied expression. As usual, he was in the middle, being pressed. “Go downstairs. We’re having tea.” He said, looking at me, his eyes stinging with glare.I nodded several times, hanging my head low. And he went out. I cupped my face with my hands and bowed the lowest degree. I cursed under my breath. “This…is…”Soon enough, I felt a hand caressing my back. “Shhh…”“Oppa…” my tears were starting to gather again.“HyunMi…look…I don’t know the whole story, but…both of you…” he hissed at his immobility of word usage, that he grabbed me and made me lean my head on his shoulder. “I know I’m being corny with this, but…don’t be so hard on yourself. I know you don’t like hearing this, but he likes you. And no matter how much you vehemently deny it, it’s vice versa. Do you get my point?”“I said sorry to him but he didn’t forgive me!”“Time soothes sorrows, dear. He’ll soften up sooner or later. You see, Key admits it. He just doesn’t want anyone rubbing it in his face.” Oppa was assuming the ‘big brother role’.“It’s just that…” I whimpered, squirming while covering my face.Unexpectedly, oppa laughed. “I hope you don’t mind my saying this, HyunMi, but I find you two funny,”This caused me to interrupt my sobbing and peeked from my hands. “Why?”“You can just settle it with a sorry and a hug, or maybe even a kiss, but you two are just so…proud. And your admission of your feelings keeps on fluctuating, causing both of you to hesitate on how you’d really set up things right,”I just stared at him.“Let’s go downstairs now, shall we?” he smiled in suggestion, and I heeded it. ------------------------------this is the most nonsensical chapter ever lol nah the author's still deciding whether they'll make peace or what.
