November 30/Key’s POV I looked at the floor. Then at the wall. Then at the ceiling. Back to the floor again. wall. Ceiling.Floor. Wall. Ceiling. Floor. Wall. Ceiling. Floor. Wall. Ceiling. Floor. Wall. Ceiling. Floor. Wall. Ceiling.I repeated this process for as many as I could remember, until I got tired. “What the heck did I just say?” I questioned myself, staring blankly into space. Something was disturbing me; that I couldn’t concentrate on what I was doing.“Smile!” the photographer said, and Snap! My picture was taken. “Hyung, are you okay?” Taemin touched my shoulder which made me look at him. I could see his concern behind his eyes.“I’m…fine, Taemin.”“Are you sure? You seem so gloomy these passed few days,” “Okay! Now, for a serious one. Taemin, put your hand over there, at the back of the couch. And you, Key, slack there on your seat like you don’t care. Look over there!” another snap was fired. Another photo was taken. For some reason, I wanted to lie about what I was feeling. Yes. I, Almighty Key, wanted to lie about what I feel. Not that I don’t trust Taemin enough, but I was wishing Jonghyun-hyung was here. I don’t want to talk about this in front of Taemin. Sure, he’ll know why I’m being like this, but I don’t want to mess up his already-messed up thoughts of him about HyunMi and me. “Hyung…?”I blinked. “Yes, Taemin. I’m fine,”The crease between his brows was still present, but he let it go. He knew that he was gonna hit a nerve if he continued. The two of us were on a photoshoot. Breaktime came, and I hurriedly got my phone to check it out. I missed a call. It was from Onew-hyung. He called thirty minutes ago.I was disappointed, but I decided to call him back. “Yobosseyo?”“Hi, hyung. You called a while ago. What is it you wanted to tell me?”“Question first. Are you tensed?”“Tensed? Tensed about what?”I could feel his smirk from the other end reaching me. “You know,”My mouth went dry and I lost words. “I…I guess I am.”He made a yeeheee sound, and it was followed by, “How does it feel?”I caught my reflection in the mirror. I gazed at myself in wonder, thinking how I’d look like to HyunMi. She’d probably laugh at me, and compliment me, but will do so backhandedly like, “Kibum you look nice in that. You look like a bird!” a small smile spread across my face when I remembered.“Yo Key. Earth to Key, earth to Key…”“Er…It’s just that…hyung… I don’t feel really good about this,”He snickered. “Come on, you? Scared? Key, just act cool, alright? Once you’re face-to-face with her tell her what you want to say—which is kind of ridiculous for me saying this to you right now, for I know that frankness for you is second nature next to breathing,”I rolled my eyes. “Why, thanks, hyung. Really appreciate it.”He chuckled. “Sure thing. And, oh, Key?”“Yes, hyung?”“Condolence,”I made a silent groan of annoyance and frustration. “I don’t need that, you know.”“Oh you do. And please don’t screw me when you get back here in the dorm. I just want you to know that I have an idea on what you’re feeling right now,”I ran my hand across my hair. “Okay, okay.”“I’ll be hanging up now. Say hi to Taemin for me, annyeong~”“’Kay, bye.” I put down my phone with a heavy sigh. I looked up at the ceiling. Today is HyunMi and Dongwoon’s date. HyunMi I rubbed my hands against each other, and then blew air on it. I jogged in my place as I waited. “And look who’s tensed,” Kikwang-oppa rested his arm on the hand-rail.“I’m not; it’s just cold,” I retorted.“How does it feel?” he asked with a smirk.I looked at my hands. “I really don’t know,”“Where are you two going?”I sighed. “Again, I don’t know,”“Oh, there he is,” he looked at someone who was at the gate. I followed his gaze, and oh. I moved a little closer to Kikwang-oppa, almost hiding behind his back.“Sup,” he jerked his head up at him.“Hi, hyung,” he greeted. He was wearing a body-hugging shirt. Seriously, underneath all that clothing I could say he’s a macho man. “Hi…HyunMi-ssi,” he scratched the back of his head.I awkwardly raised my hand up. “Hi...Woonie-ya,”“So! Where are you two goin’?” oppa asked him.“HyunMi-ssi, you said you needed to paint something, right?” Dongwoon looked and inquired.I bobbed my head. “Yes. For our landscape painting,”He smiled. “Where do you want to paint?”I scratched the back of my neck in confusion. “Well…I really don’t know,”“How about by the Han River?”“What?” both Kikwang-oppa and I gasped.“What’s wrong?”“I was thinking…well…” I swallowed. “Woonie, are you sure?”“Well, yes, unless you don’t like it…I was just thinking that even if we had a—“ he cleared his throat. “—date, I’d still be able to help,” he reasoned, trying his best to avoid my eyes.“So cheesy,” Kikwang-oppa giggled.I nudged his arm. “Get outta here,” I whispered with threat.“Oh well…fine, just take care, alright? Both of you. Dongwoon-ah, take care of HyunMi. I think that would be all. ‘kay, bye,” he walked off, out of the scene.I turned back to my date. “If that’s what you want, well…okay,”“So, let’s go get your things?” he suggested with a smile. * * * * *“I don’t think…” I scratched my head. “…this would do it,”“Shall we move into another location, then?” he asked, ready to pick up the stand from the ground.“No, no! It’s okay here. It’s just that I’m a bit hesitant with this,” I looked at the view. I wasn’t really fond of landscape painting. But still, I had to do this. I tilted my head sideward, and made a picture frame with my hands. “Well, I guess… this would do,”“Are you going to start now?”I nodded. I gathered my things, and then commenced putting on the guidelines. I got my brush and paint and went to work. It was when I was in the middle of my work that I realized that I was on a date. “Woonie-?” I looked around. I called again. “Woonie?” still no answer. For the third time, “Dongwoon-yaaaa!”“Here,” a deep voice answered over my shoulder.I jumped back in surprise. “Hey! Where did you come from?”He shrugged. “Well, I was sitting right over there so as not to break your concentration. You just can’t be disturbed, can you?”“What?”He shook his head. “Nothing. Oh, HyunMi-ssi, are you done with that?”“Almost,” I answered, and before I could touch again the tip of the brush on the canvas he suspended my wrist.“Oops, before you fall into that trance again,” he was saying, this gleam of mischief in his eyes.I glanced at him, bewildered. He stooped down to level his gaze with the canvas. “How do you do this, HyunMi-ssi?” he inquired, showing interest on what I was doing. He did it to remind himself and me that we were on a date. I was happy that he was exerting effort on this.I collected myself, and asked, “Where, Woonie-ya?”“That one.”“Oh. You mean the water? I just mixed and adjusted the tones, depending upon the shade. Look,” I put paint on the mixing plate and mixed blue with white. “See, it becomes lighter. And this color belongs to this part,” I pointed the part of the painted river which had the lightest hue. “Try putting it on,”“Are you sure?”I gave him a reassuring smile.“But I’m not really good at arts,”“I’m not really good at music, either,” I retorted in a rather sweet way.A soft chuckle escaped his mouth when he got my point. He took my brush and applied the paint on the area I pointed. He caressed it across the canvas again; he had to retouch the brush on the plate. He was getting lost in what he was doing.“Oops. Looks like I ruined it,” he bit his lip.I shook my head. “No you didn’t. You were even enjoying what you were doing,” he handed me the brush and I took it.“I ought to stop ‘helping’ now. I’ll just sit here and wait for you to finish, HyunMi-ssi.”I looked at him in sudden curiosity. For a moment I compared him to Kibum—who, by now, if he were my date, would have been nagging at me for taking so long to paint. I even thought that we might even end up having a water-fight in the river. My heart sank.Kibum-ah.I wondered what he was doing as of the moment.I huffed at my conscience. He knows about this—I’m not the one to blame. “Um, yes?”I blinked. I just realized I was gawking at the tall guy standing before me. “I’m…sorry. I spaced out again,”“What were you thinking of?”Kibum. Key, on your case. “You really want to know?”“Why not?”“Well…I was thinking of…Nah, I was just thinking on how to paint that one over there,” I created a little white lie, eyeing the riverbank.Dongwoon bought this. He just nodded. “Oh. You’re almost done with that, right?”“Yeah.”“I’ll wait,” he smiled. I brought my sight back to my work, and just when I was thinking he already left, a mouth was on my ear saying, “I’m sure he’s okay,”I snapped my head to the direction of his voice but he was already walking over to the riverbank and sat there. About fifteen minutes later I was done. Noticing that he was still waiting for me there diligently, I felt guilty. Compared to Dongwoon, Kibum would be infuriated by now. That guy had lost his definition of patience. But somehow, it made me wonder why he brought me here. He said he wanted to help. But after my painting here, we’re going home, right? I could see dark clouds gathering themselves in the skies of Seoul. Obviously, it will rain sooner or later. I still have time. I thought.I disposed of my brush and my work. I hurriedly got my sketch pad and colored pencils which I happened to be carrying. * * * * * *“Hurry, HyunMi-ssi!”“Coming, coming!”We trotted down the road to reach our ride. The rainfall had started. Wet, we climbed in the car and drove back to the house. “Ah, you guys are soaked!” So Eul unnie opened the door and let us in. “HyunMi, dear, here’s a towel, go change your clothes! And as for you, Dongwoon…” I didn’t hear the rest of unnie’s speech. I climbed my way up to my room.“Ugh, it’s wet,” I grunted, plopping my things on the couch. I frowned at my sketchpad. Good thing the canvas was protected enough, so my painting wasn’t really damaged. I checked to see if my second work was damaged. I planned to give it to him later. Yes, it was still alright. Good. I went to my cabinet and got clothes, then entered the bathroom to change. My date was boring. This horrible realization came as I brushed my hair. Indeed, it was. Yes. I was the only one who enjoyed it, who benefitted from it.Did Dongwoon even like it? I should apologize. I should. Indeed. I decided to go downstairs. “Dongwoon-ah I need to—ah!” I yelped as I skidded down that step. Again.“HyunMi-ssi!”“FOR THE LOVE OF—WEAR THAT! I DEMAND YOU WEAR THAT!” I yelled, covering my eyes. My face reddened, and I screeched. I was mumbling something I myself I couldn’t understand, all I could remember is that while I was covering my eyes I was mumbling something that sounded like ‘chocolate abs’. If he heard it, I don’t know. I also don’t want to know.“It’s okay now,” he said.I popped open my right eye first, and I regained my breathing as he finally wore the shirt.Once again, I am going to say this. This guy is a macho man. “I’m sorry I didn’t—““—No, it was my fault. Woonie-ya I have something to tell you…” I looked down, and my eyes travelled along his torso up to his head.My eyes fixated themselves on the most curious part (for me) in his body. I mean, minus the perversion—I didn’t have a clear view of his abdomen a while ago. If I become a sculptor, I could totally use it as a reference.MOON HYUNMI, WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING? “Uh, yes?” his eyes met mine and there was inquiry in his.My eye twitched. “Um…I…I…I…I…”“You…?”I gathered my wits. “I…I…want to…apologize…”“What? Why?”“Because…” I scratched my head lightly. “I’m selfish,”“What do you mean?”I sighed. “Because I was the only one that enjoyed this date. Because I ignored you while I was painting. Because I took you for granted. I’m sorry if it had to end like this!” I summed my reasons all in one breath. He grinned, obviously amused. “But HyunMi-ssi, it’s not over yet,”“It isn’t?” I arched a brow. “Whaaaaaaaaat?”“Our date’s not over yet.” -KEEEEEEEY! :D“How was the photoshoot, Key?” Onew-hyung asked me.“I’m dying,” was my inappropriate answer. “I AM SO TIRED OF THIS!” I groaned.Hyung patted my back. “That’s okay…I mean, er, I know you’re tired. Hey, why don’t you sleep for a while? That might recharge you,”I was on the couch, lying face-down. “Hyuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuung…”“Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssss Keeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey?”“I’m dyiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiingggggggg.”Onew-hyung patted my back. “It’s just one day, Key. Let HyunMi have what she wants. Besides, this was your idea,” he reminded me.I wanted to roll my eyes, but I was too weak to do it. So I just snorted. “I know…but…”“…But you can’t go to wherever they are right now and ruin everything your rival has planned, yes? So, do this like a man, Kim Kibum,” Jonghyun-hyung lectured.I groaned in frustration. WHY HAS THIS CALAMITY BEFALLEN UPON MEEEEEEEEE? -Later, that night “Dinner’s ready. What took you so long?” I stated nonchalantly.HyunMi took a long while before replying. “We already ate dinner,” before she could take the first step of the stairs, I asked:
“How was it?”For a while HyunMi’s body didn’t move, nor did she breathe. I could tell by judging her frozen position on the staircase. “It was…nice. Thank you for asking,” she took three grades up the stairs, but then again I halted—“HyunMi,”She glanced at me, her face beyond description.“Tell me what happened,” I didn’t say that in a threatening way, nor did I demand for it, but rather I said it with a smile. Yes, with a smile. I hope she was got my message though. I was telling her I’m not angry. --HyunMi o___o“Where are all the people?” I turned my head from left to right. No customer was around. “Have they been abducted by aliens or something?”Dongwoon laughed. “No, but they were told to…ah, let’s just say, be gone,”I looked at him, scrutinizing. “You’re making it sound evil,”“I mean—I paid this restaurant to close early,”“So, now, this resto is closed? Then why are we--” then I realized how stupid I was. I slapped my forehead. “Gosh. Okay, I get it. Okay,”“Are you always this curious, HyunMi-ssi?” we were walking to our table which I don’t even know where.I wanted to scratch my hair, but stopped in mid-air before I could ruin So Eul-unnie’s hairstyle she put on me. “Um…”“We’re here,” we came to a stop. he pulled out a chair and let me sit on it. He sat on the chair opposite to me.I covered my mouth in my hand. Seriously, this guy is exerting way too much effort on this.He examined my face. “Is there anything wrong?”I wanted to bite my nails. “Nothing. It’s just that…it’s so…what do you call this…”“Romantic?” he suggested with a laugh jokingly.I smiled sheepishly. “Yeah,”“No one has brought you on a date like this back in LA?”I looked to the left, thinking. “Well, some…I mean, some planned to take me into some of these but before they could ask I already refused.”He laughed. “You’re a heartbreaker, HyunMi-ssi.”I giggled proudly, “I know,”I heard a mumble from him that sounded like, “just don’t break mine,” but hey…that would be too delusional of me.“What?”“Nothing,” he said. “Shall we order, then?”“Sure,”Before I even knew it a waiter was standing at one side of our table. He handed us menus, and I chose. I placed my order, and so did he.“Please do tell me that you didn’t forget to buy their silence,” I whispered to him.“They won’t tell, don’t worry,” he smiled reassuringly.I wanted to keep the talk going, but the words were stuck in my throat. I just fumbled on the table-cloth, not knowing what to say.I was distracted from my thoughts when I heard music from behind me. Beautiful, ballad version. I named their song like that. “Um…”“So beautiful my girl~” a guy on my right leaned closer to me and sung.“What the…” I covered my mouth to stop a gasp from escaping. “Y-Yoseob-oppaaaa?”He nodded, smiling as he sang.Something poked my left shoulder, and a flower followed it as I turned.“What are you doing here?” I mumbled under my breath, looking at Kikwang-oppa. The guy just winked at me.Third one came, and Dujun-oppa was it. “Hi, HyunMi-ssi,” he whispered gently, in between the lyrics. “You dragged them into doing this?” I widened my eyes at their maknae. He waved his hand in denial. “Well, not drag, I just asked them if they could…you know. Hiring a choir would be a bit too expensive.”“I see…” I smiled awkwardly. We ate away as soon as our orders arrived. In the middle of my eating I noticed that the three singers behind me were gone. “Where are they?”“Hm?” my date looked up. “You mean hyung?”“Yeah.”“Right there,” he pointed a table a bit far from ours, and they were eating to their hearts’ content.“Wow,” I stared at them in wonder. “They sure eat hungrily,”“The very reason why I didn’t want to hire singers for this date,” Dongwoon smiled.“What?”“The chaperons’ expenses are bigger than the date itself. Look,” I did, and I had to laugh. They ate a lot. Dongwoon brought me home as our little date ended. We stopped at the gate of the mansion.“So I guess…this is where our date ends,” I said, a little disheartened.“Not really,” he rubbed my head and stood close to me. “Bye, HyunMi-ssi,”“Bye.” I lifted my gaze to meet his. Before I even knew it I threw my arms around him, squeezing him in a hug. “Thank you, Woonie!”“You’re welcome,” he patted my back thrice. “It was fun today, HyunMi-ssi.”With my head on his shoulder I asked, “Your date was selfish. How could that have been enjoyable?”“She wasn’t, trust me.” He withdrew from our hug. “She was really fun to have a date with.” “OHH, NOONA, WHY DID YOU THROW THE BALL OUTSIDE? I’LL GET IT!” Kibum’s voice was heard from inside, and he came out dashing, after a ball that landed before my foot. “OH, DONGWOON-AH! It’s you!” he greeted him in an odd tone. Seriously, this guy is just so…“Hey, Key,” Dongwoon greeted him promptly.“Where’d you come from? And, oh! Hi, HyunMi! I didn’t see you there!” he raised his hand up as if to offer a high-five.I frowned at him. You’re obviously over-acting.“Hmmp,” Kibum folded his arms and turned his back on me. “I was just here to get the ball. We were playing.” He showed him the alleged purpose of his going out. “See?”Dongwoon just nodded. I could see in him that he’s annoyed. “Nice.” He turned back to me. “I must leave now, HyunMi-ssi. Bye and thanks,” he bowed and went in the car.“Yeah. Annyeong Woonie-ya.” And he drove off. As soon as his car was out of sight I stomped my way in the house. “Dinner’s ready. What took you so long?” Kibum asked in his usual pompous tone.I seriously wanna hit this guy with a chair right now. “We already ate dinner,” before I could step on the stairs he asked again—“How was it?”I bit my lip. I knitted my eyebrows in extreme annoyance. “It was nice, thank you for asking.” Was my answer, and I succeeded in not cussing at him while I was at it.I took another three steps, and again, “HyunMi,”I turned my head, about to seriously yell at him, but when I saw his expression, accompanied by his sentence, I almost fell off the stairs in shock. “Tell me what happened,” he said with a smile.Who are you and what have you done to Kibum? “Okay.” I smiled, and went upstairs. -------------------------------------------BABIESSSSSSSSS D:I'm so sorry for not updating!!!!
