Operation: Bring Out the (1/2)
Jinni stood herself under a place that could shield her from the rain continuously dropping from the harsh sky. She extended her arms and placed her hands on to the body of a tree. Her head hung low as she fought for balance. Sobs escaped her mouth, as she replayed the scene of Baekhyun’s outburst in her head.
Maybe there was a deeper meaning as to why he hadn’t seen his parents in so long!
Jinni was in need of holding herself against something so that she could feel recollected. Her arms had then wrapped around the tree. She cursed herself for being so foolish. She was so caught up in trying to make Baekhyun happy that she didn’t realize the reality of it.
I mean Baekhyun didn’t look too happy. He was probably overwhelmed and so he wasn’t in the right mind.
“It’s my fault that he said those things. He didn’t mean them. He’s not that way.”Most of her refused to believe his sayings.
Just like Baekhyun had said, she was there with him for twelve years. How could she not take note of a bad attitude coming from him? Never had she seen him unleash such a side. She chose to believe that he was only so built up with such shock, also hinting some anger, and so
he had lashed out on her that way. She thought of every possible way to avoid the truth that had escaped from Baekhyun’s lips.
Baekhyun ran the same path Jinni had. A flood of thoughts rushed into his mind. Never in the twelve years of being with Jinni had he seen her looking so miserable. He discovered that that might have been the reason for his sensitivity towards her for the past years. He was afraid of exposing her vulnerability. He didn’t want to be responsible for it, and that summed up the reason for him to lash out on her... through Suho. He used the fact that he wasn’t in his own body as an advantage to tell her off.
Though, he felt the same remorse he would have felt if he was in his own form.
His eye had caught attention to a moving figure over by a colossal tree. He squinted, and his eyes hadn’t deceived him.
It was Seong Jinni.
He ran over to the tree, calling her with a breathy sigh.
“Jinni-ah.”
Her only response was sniffles.
Baekhyun felt even more regretful for what he had said. Seeing her and seeing the weather was an easy given that she was emotionally impaired.
He called her again, this time grabbing a hold of her shoulder. With just that simple gesture, Jinni spun around and snaked her arms around Suho’s back. Her face met his chest, and soon her bawling was transmitted literally on to him.
Baekhyun stood still, feeling his heart suddenly crumbling with the painful sound echoing around them. Her cries were just like sounds of thunder. Something he as a kid and even now, never wanted to hear. He was always fearful of them, and needless to say, Baekhyun feared now as his ears enveloped Jinni’s cries.
He finally took reaction and grabbed a hold of her with Suho’s arms. He tightly embraced her back. He had much warmth to give, since he didn’t get to shower it all on his parents. Instead, Jinni received the comfortable grasp.
The top of her head was just below his chin, which was now moving slightly down. Words began to stretch out of his mouth. He tried to find the right ones.
“I-I’m sorry.” He stammered.
Jinni’s head lifted, and her eyes had as well. They met with Suho’s.
“Suho, why are you apologizing? You didn’t do anything wrong.”
Baekhyun’s grip tightened around her. Just now, he had realized he was taking away Jinni’s innocence in such a twisted manner. If only he could just tell her everything and come clean. Though, consequences were with that price. It was an understanding that if anyone outside of the body switching knew of the procedure, literal pain would be received by both who are involved. Take it as an indication that people who have this power are the most secretive and that it’s quite worthy of a mutation. And it’s known that what makes a secret a secret, is that people aren’t informed. Just as people who commit crimes go to jail, body switchers who let people know they are in current body switching form receive an unbearable pain surge through their veins. Consequences are consequences. Baekhyun doesn’t make the rules, he was only meant to follow them.
“I want to apologize, because of how stupid Baekhyun is! He didn’t know what he was saying. He’s idiotic! Don’t cry over such a stupid stunt he pulled!” Baekhyun was now angry towards himself.
Jinni sucked in the snot that was urging to get out. She rubbed her tears away before shaking her head.
“I know Baekhyun. I probably just shocked him with my surprise. I should’ve just told him beforehand and cancel the surprise to it, then I would’ve known if it was a bad idea or not.”
Baekhyun thought it was unbelievable. The fact that Jinni was taking the blame when it was obviously his fault had wavered his heart.
“Jinni, why did you even get his parents? What was the reason?” He suddenly questioned.
As if prepared, Jinni instantly replied with a heart-warming answer.
“You told me that he had never really appreciated his birthday and that he hasn’t spent one with his parents in so long.” She reminded.
Baekhyun recalled him letting her know on that fact, but he hadn’t expected her to surprise him by bringing them to see him. He was actually grateful for her thoughtfulness. He was only upset that he wasn’t able to experience the wondrous gift himself.
“You’re amazing for that. What Baekhyun said, disregard it? Deep down, he’s really thankful. I’m his best friend, I would know.”
He was speaking from his own perspective now. He was really giving his full gratitude on her attempt to make his birthday a special one.
The two were still hugging, but not in the same scenery. The sky was starting to clear again. Jinni's pain was alleviated and it was all thanks to Suho.
“Thanks, Suho. You’re really the best.”
Hearing her words gave him a small dissatisfaction that it wasn’t meant for him, Baekhyun. All the while, he couldn’t help but feel relieved that she was calmed down and that the pouring rain now receded to present the sun underneath the clouds.
“So how do you feel about Baekhyun now?” Baekhyun asked, curious of her impression after the catastrophe. He crossed his fingers as he awaited her answer.
He came to like Jinni as a person. Not someone who had googly eyes for him, but rather, someone who was there for him.
“What he said did hurt me.” She confessed.
Baekhyun frowned at her statement.
“But that doesn’t stop my love for him.” She added.
Baekhyun felt a weird banging against the inside of Suho’s chest.
Does Suho need to go to a doctor or something?
