Baekhyuns Birthday (Par (1/2)
Baekhyun and Suho made it to the entrance of school, and with only five minutes to spare. Along the walk, Baekhyun thought about telling Suho about the bracelet, and he came to the decision that he should just let it out. When his mouth was open and ready to confess, Jinni’s entrance paused him.
She waved happily as she approached the two best friends.
“Suho!”
Baekhyun was expecting her to throw herself towards Baekhyun’s body and greeting him like a kid who just activated her hyped up mode. Instead, she approached him, in Suho's body, first.
“Good Morning, Jinni.” Baekhyun eyed her strangely.
She couldn’t have forgotten my birthday. Jinni was still facing him.Could she?
Suho peered over Jinni’s shoulder, as if he was trying to indicate the attention Baekhyun was supposed to be receiving.
“Jinni-ah.” Suho called.
He too was confused as to why she was paying no attention to him.
“Anything to say?” He continued.
Jinni looked him over innocently.
“Ah!” She brightened.
“Good Morning, Baekhyun.”
A small pang hit Baekhyun. Disappointment churned in his stomach. Seeing that Jinni wasn’t even prepared with a gift had Baekhyun silently questioning.
Suho responded with a simple, “Oh?”
He retreated himself from her space.
Before Baekhyun could give the slightest reminder of what day it was, the bell had disrupted him.
Jinni instantly had her feet departing from the area where Baekhyun and Suho stood.
“I’ll see you later, guys!” Jinni hollered, following the rush of students heading to class.
Suho placed a hand on his shoulder.
“Looks like she’s already forgotten your special day.” He spoke with an amused expression.
Baekhyun’s shoulders deflated, “Faster than I expected.”
Though something wasn’t quite sensible about Jinni’s sudden oblivion. It was only days ago when he accompanied her to buy him a gift.
Jinni drew a breath of fresh air as she accomplished avoiding Baekhyun. That is, until later. She planned to keep it a surprise the way she had told Suho. Telling him now would risk the secrecy of her gift.
“Just wait some hours, Baekhyun.” She whispered, as she entered her first class.
Baekhyun took his seat with a dusky aura surrounding him. Suho usually came to class with a determined look, but obviously Baekhyun replaced that image to something that was more out of the ordinary.
There was a scowl that defined his disappointment.
He was still trying to unfold whatever Jinni was planning. He figured that it was an act that she hadn’t greeted him. That or, he was being in denial that the girl who liked him for twelve years had miraculously began to slowly dispatch him out of her mind.
Well, Isn’t this what he wanted?
Why was she suddenly someone different, when seeing her from a different angle?
This thought engrossed Baekhyun. It had only been days being with Jinni as Suho’s body, yet he’s already seen something more to her. Maybe because he was experiencing associating with her as guy she didn’t like. It only proved how special she treated Baekhyun.
“Happy Birthday, Baekhyun.” Baekhyun attentively brought his attention towards across the room.
The greeting belonged to a female, and someone he wasn’t familiar with. She had a faint voice, but it was just about possible to hear.
Who is she? Baekhyun directed his thought towards Suho.
Suho caught his thought and mouthed that he’d explain to him later.
Baekhyun watched, seeing himself converse with someone who was practically a stranger.
“Thanks, Jieun.” Suho awkwardly replied.
By her body language, it was obvious she felt awkward, too. As for Suho, the only reason why was because it wasn’t even his own birthday.
Before Jieun made her leave, a thought occurred to Suho.
“How did you know it was my birthday?”
Jieun’s eyes enlarged to the size of pingpong balls. She realized that during her incident with him and their short exchange of identities, he had never given away his date of birth. Though, she had already known beforehand, but Suho hadn’t recognized that fact. No one did, except her.
“I assumed it was, since you were carrying a cake shop’s bag earlier. Sorry, since it got ruined.” She covered.
Suho recalled what had happened between them earlier. He even received a flashback of the cake being crushed.
“Oh, yeah! No biggie.” He smiled.
The teacher had then ended all conferences. And Jieun was ordered to go to her seat. They exchanged farewells, just as class was in session.
Wait, but how did she know it was a birthday cake?
After school, Baekhyun and Suho did the usual and headed their way home. Baekhyun scanned around, expecting some big surprise attack from Jinni. So far, there was only painful silence.
Suddenly, Suho spoke up breaking the silence, and it had resulted to Baekhyun smacking him with his palm.
Suho winced in pain.
“What was that for?!”
“Sorry, you startled me,” Baekhyun rubbed the side of his own cheek tenderly. “Anyways, who was the girl you were speaking to earlier?”
He recalled his curiosity from earlier in the day.
Suho looked at him with a confused expression. Even if he wasn’t in his own body he still felt the burning sensation of the slap. That was one out of the many disadvantages of switching bodies.
“What girl?”
“The one I supposedly know, since she greeted me.”
