And So the Switched Life (1/2)
"I wonder where he is?" Jinni wondered as she paced back and forth in front of Baekhyun's locker.
Greeting him in the morning was part of her daily basis and not once in twelve years had she ever failed her routine. Well, except the days where he missed school, in which Jinni walked around school with a rain cloud over her head.
Moments later, Baekhyun and Suho arrived.
"Remember the plan." Baekhyun whispered.
Baekhyun had thoroughly introduced Suho to the switching-bodies life. And also the plan that was about to be commenced.
"Oh, Baekhyun!" Jinni waved happily.
Baekhyun nudged Suho to reply.
"O-Oh. J-Jini-ah." He feared that she'd recognize Baekhyun not being himself, since she knew him too well.
Is he stuttering while talking to me?
Suho had caught her thought, and felt relieved. She was buying the act. Well, of course she would. Even though Suho was living in Baekhyun, Baekhyun's exterior... was still Baekhyun.
Remember to act cold!!
Baekhyun's thought screamed.
Suho manuevered Baekhyun's body around just as Jinni was going to speak. Baekhyun brainstormed a plan that if Suho were to give him a bad impression in front of Jinni, then she may lose interest. Afterall, Jinni was quite fond of Baekhyun's kindness. Even if he was uneasy about her growing obsession of him, not once had he rejected her harshly. All because Baekhyun didn't have the heart to.
"Baekhyun, I was wondering," She started. "Would you like to go somewhere after school?"
Jinni had suddenly gained the courage to ask him out. Never had she attempted to do so, but something in her finally released that bravery.
Suho shut his eyes tight and mentally panicked.
Reject her!
Baekhyun instructed.
Suho faced forward again, this time with a cocky impression. He looked down at her with a sassy look.
"And why would I do that?"
Jinni's ears reddened due to his remark.
"I. Well. I just." She couldn't phrase the right words.
"As if I'd ever go out in public with a girl like you. Besides, I have plans." Suho's words rolled off of Baekhyun's tongue.
Good! She's looking upset! I'll swoop in soon!!
Baekhyun was thrilled seeing that his plan was working.
Jinni's lip quivered. This was the first time Baekhyun was being so rude and hurtful.
"I guess you're busy then." She forced herself to maintain the weather. She didn't want a thunder storm making it obvious how she felt. So instead, she played cool.
"Wait, Jinni." Baekhyun called with Suho's voice.
Jinni was stunned. She hadn't really spoken to Suho. The only memorable moment she's had with him was the incident in kindergarten. She was secretly thankful that he had took the glue stick away from her. Since, it lead to her feelings for Baekhyun.
"Suho-ssi?"
"Since this guy's ditching me for his own little plans... Maybe I can fill in for him?" He shrugged.
Jinni blinked rapidly. Was he implying that he wanted to hang out with her? She was uncomfortable with the thought. It was practically like being with a stranger.
"Eh..." Jinni didn't have much interest in accepting his offer.
Until Suho jumped in.
"You two should."
Jinni darted her eyes towards him. If Baekhyun says so, Jinni would definitely oblige. She hesitated to put his thought in consideration, but ended up agreeing to his suggestion.
"Okay, I suppose there isn't any harm in a friendly hang out." She grinned.
"I'll meet you outside of the school gates after school." Baekhyun used Suho's charming smile.
She nodded in response.
"See you then," She paused before looking over Suho. "We should all go next time, Baekhyun." When she finally left, Suho let out a big sigh of relief. He felt like he was drowning the whole time talking to her. Afraid of being caught, he did his best to stay calm, when really he wanted to just give up the whole scheme. Suho felt his shoulder being patted.
"We did good." Baekhyun praised.
"Kim Suho? Maybe I should cancel on him right when school ends?" Jinni thought to herself.
Just then, a load of ideas flooded in her mind. "What if Baekhyun is sending Suho purposely? Maybe to find out significant stuff about me?" She gasped.
"That means I have to be well prepared on what to say."
She tapped a finger against her chin.
"Those two are best friends! Maybe I can fish out some information about Baekhyun!" She brightened.
"Alright, I guess this outing with Suho will be useful."
The bell had finally rung initiating the start of class. Baekhyun and Suho had the same subject for the first class. In fact, it was their only class together, so they had to make sure they could handle acting as each other.
The teacher, as always, started off with roll call.
"Ahn Dongki."
"Present."
"Bae Suzy."
"Here."
"Byun Baekhyun."
Suho failed to reply right away. The teacher cocked a brow towards him.
"Mr. Byun?"
Suho locked eyes with Baekhyun, who was across the room. It's like his mouth wouldn't dare move.
