Pulling an invisible string All the ferocious sounds that echoed in the main corridor slowly disappeared as the students leaved the school building. As time passed, the usually noisy corridor gradually became a silent one. Excited to return home, they rapidly grabbed their stuffs and ran to the gates. Weekend was quickly approaching and the students were really aware of it, only one day left. Some of them weren’t returning home, simply because they lived here, in this boarding school. The dormitories were situated across the school, so it wasn’t taking a lot of time to reach. Thought, it wasn’t offered to everybody. Only those who were in specifics clubs, the student council or simply had good marks were allowed to reside there. It was much easier to stay at school than travelling all the way between your home and here if you were having a practice with your club or a meeting.Lee Donghae walked slowly in the corridor, some files in hands, passing by some of the class that were used for the meetings of the student council. He automatically looked inside the room, obviously searching for a certain someone. He’s not here. Well, it was something to expect. The meetings weren’t debuting right after school, but the young man was often in here, relaxing. The seventeen years old boy continued his way towards the entrance, feeling the need to return in his room. Maybe I’ll see him there. Once he was outside, he didn’t take time to look at the already familiar landscape surrounding him that he rushed himself to the other building to his left. The young man opened the door and got inside the place. The lady welcomed him from behind her desk, a coffee in hands. She always wore that kind of smile, a warm one. Her desk was in the middle of the first floor, completely in front of the only door, a velvet carpet leading the way from the entrance to her ‘office’. Not far, behind, there was a coffee table with some couch all around, but not a lot of people passed time there since we had living room on each floor. Finally, the stairs and elevators that leaded to the rooms were by each side of the entrance. The brown-haired man reached the stairs on the right and began making his way to the third floor, where he resided, in the room 302. He inserted his keycard to unlock the door, opened it quietly and took a quick look around. Nobody seems to be around. He walked further in his room and closed the door behind him. The teenager put the folder on his roommate’s desk and lay down on his blue bed.The room was large enough to contain both roommates’ stuffs, it was quite spacious. On Donghae’s side, there was a bed, a desk with a laptop―which he didn’t use often―a bookshelf in the corner and an armchair just beside. It was the same arrangement with the other side except that the closet substituted the armchair and the bookshelf. There was also the bathroom in an adjacent room.He sighed and closed his eyes, letting his mind wandering somewhere in la la land. Donghae wasn’t able to think more deeply, because the bathroom door suddenly flew open, revealing his roommate. The latter smiled a dimpled smile when he saw the younger one, lying on his bed. He walked near Donghae’s bed, making his tiny ponytail on top of his head bounce with each step he took. The guy’s name was Park Jungsu and he was two or three years older.“Hae, what took you so long to come?”“I was looking for you. I gave up when I saw that you weren’t in the student council’s meeting place nor at the library…”“Oh… You know, I’m not always there!”“Most of your time, you are.”Jungsu sighed at Donghae’s statement.“Anyway, someone from the student council told me to give you this.” The brown-haired man pointed the folder on the older boy’s desk. “Since I’m seeing you more often…”“What is it?” He took it and opened it, examining what was inside.“I dunno.”A long silence filled the room as older read the files, but it wasn’t an awkward one, most of a boring one. Donghae then decided to take out his books and study for the upcoming exam, next week. Before he opened any of it, he went out the room to drink a glass of water. As he walked down the hall, he kept on looking at the doors. All the same. He finally arrived in the shared empty kitchen. At that time of the day, nobody was present. Simply because they already ate or they had club activities. The teenager took a glass from the cupboard and filled it with cold water before drinking it one-shot. He turned on his heels and began to walk, once again, in the hall towards his room. He was constantly looking at the carpet, seeing how well clean it was. The lady’s doing a good job.The sound of a closing door made him focus in front.  A red-haired boy went out of his room wearing a large black sweater. He walked nonchalantly down the hallway, hands in pocket. For a couple of seconds, their eyes met, but the contact immediately broke because the other boy turned his head straight before him, an uninterested an annoyed look on his features, just as if seeing Donghae made him bored as hell. The latter stopped dead in his track and turned around, watching the older guy leave. The red-haired turned on the left, heading towards the stairs. Just before entering the staircase, he took another glance at Donghae and frowned, noticing that he was watching―no, more like fixing him. Donghae quickly turned around. He has been caught, even if it was a high possibility since he wasn’t really subtle, the young man was embarrassed. He sighed of relief when his neighbour just continued on his track and did nothing about it. Where was he going? Outside, smoking probably…Just after he was sure that he heard the staircase door being closed, the teenager moved forward again. Like not so long ago, he opened his room door and dropped onto his comfy bed. He put his notebooks in front of him and began to read the contents, but he wasn’t really paying attention. His thought drifted to something more out of nowhere.Donghae was a really ordinary, but studious student. He wasn’t standing out the crew like some other students. He liked sports, but he wasn’t a jock. He had great marks, but they weren’t all up to A+. He read books, but he wasn’t a nerd. Neither he was bullied or a bully himself. Unlike the guy he just passed by, Donghae wasn’t any of these stereotypes. His name was Lee Hyukjae. A well-known guy all across the school. He had it all, the look, the marks, he was good at sports and unfortunately, he was a bully. The brown-haired student heard many rumours about him, like how his treatment as a bully was like living a hell. In a deep, cruel, fucking hell. The boy was lucky to never have encountered him this way, he surely wouldn’t like to. Even if they lived on the same floor, they never talked to each other. He was pretty pleased with the boring life he was currently living, he wasn’t asking more spiciness…“You better be studying instead of spacing out.”Donghae looked at his roommate, then at his book again.“Euuuuh… Yeah, yeah.” He mumbled. The evening promised to be a long one for him, especially if he kept on thinking…
