Is this fate? GDTOPS 39840K 2023-11-02

Somehow, Sehun’s mother always knew there was something wrong with his child’s health. He wasn’t showing any weird symptoms but she had a presentment about it that worried her to the end. She even made doctors check him twice whenever he had his usual checkups, to make sure he was healthy. Medicine in town was still pretty standard even when their family had the money to pay for the best doctors. She was a young mother, in her first years of marriage and she only wanted the best for her first born. There was one day when he was around 5 years old that changed his life. He was just playing outside in a cold winter day. Like usual, his mother told him to protect himself from the cold if he was going outside but like the kid he was, he didn’t listen. He and his friends ran around, playing with the snow that piled up and even burying themselves in the snow. Of course he got sick the nest day. At first it was a simple cold but when he couldn’t recover fully, things got worst. He coughed and had high fevers and it didn’t seem like he was getting better. Soon, he felt like he was chocking whenever he ran or overworked himself. At his young age he was diagnosed with asthma. A lung obstruction disease. Sehun’s lungs were always weak and his winter day made his situation worst. Without thinking it could be anything but a cold, no one ever thought it could come to this. But it did. Since that day he had to carry his inhalator everywhere, just in case. But time passed and his attacks decreased to the point where they thought he was cured.Sehun was a sick kid but he was still the most popular boy around. He was smart and good looking. When people walked past him, they often turned his way and wondered who was the lucky family who had him.  When he met Luhan, the never ending attraction he felt towards him begun. He’d often ditch his friends who walked with him on their way back to their houses from school just so he could follow Luhan’s route instead. It was at least another 30 minutes but if could see him, then it was worth it.Almost half year later, Sehun was long over the fact that he had his first crush and with a boy on top of that. He was pretty open about it, in fact. Not to his parents but he was with his friends. He asked people about Luhan who was older than him and when they snapped at his insistence and scoffed “why do you want to know?” He answered “because I like him” without thinking it twice. After that, a lot of his friends stopped talking to him but it didn’t bother Sehun. If they didn’t like talking about it then it was their loss. He wasn’t going to shut up about it.A couple of threats were sent to him. They weren’t exactly “for him” they were more like warnings that he shouldn’t get involved with Luhan. He heard rumors about a couple of guys wanting to beat Luhan and of course he wouldn’t let them but he got there too late. Ever since that day he developed a habit of saying “sorry” too much, even when he didn’t do anything wrong because the guilt he felt was big. And when they engaged in a relationship much later on, he’d often get scolded because he apologized too much. It was his own way of saying sorry for not being there earlier. There was one night when he just got back from one of his and Luhan’s late night dates. Luhan begged him to stay, almost cried even, but he was sure everything was going to be fine. He was ready to go to bed when he got a text message. It was the address of a website. Intrigued, Sehun quickly turned on his computer and entered the site. He regretted it only a second after. The site showed a collection of various videos of the day Luhan was attacked. Everything was on tape. Since the moment they followed him to the moment himself showed up. Why couldn’t they just leave them alone? Weren’t they supposed to be his friends? Why would anyone do that kind of thing to Luhan, who was pure innocence and happiness? Sehun never felt like his chest tightened so much and his lungs began to feel like he was being constricted. He was choking, worst than that, he was dying but there was no one who could notice it on time. He could no longer say his attacks were gone.Sehun passed out and due to the intensity of his attack and the shock, he entered a comma state. For months he remained in a hospital, connected to a machine that kept him alive. While they were cases of people who woke up from that terrible state years later, there were also cases of people who never did. During that time, Sehun’s parents were weak and vulnerable. They were brainwashed and convinced that it was that boy’s fault his son had to suffer like that. It only made sense. Sehun’s life was merely perfect before and as soon as he showed up something like that occurred? It was too big to be just a coincidence and it was also easier to blame someone else.Several months later, he woke up. Doctors checked him immediately and while they were side effects of the lack of oxygen his brain got during the attack, like a small stuttering, there were also things that he could never recover, like his memory. A whole year of his life disappeared, as if all those memories were mere fragments of a dream he had been dreaming while he was asleep for months and forgotten as soon as his eyes shot open.To prevent things to repeat themselves, his parents sent him to the city with the excuse that he’d have a better future there, leaving Luhan and their past behind.“I know it was a drastically thing but what was I supposed to do? I couldn’t look at you the same way and I wasn’t going to wait for another tragedy. Do you know how painful it was going every day to that gloomy hospital and watch you in that vegetable state for nearly 6 months? Do you have any idea of how many times I cried at the possibility that you could never wake up? When you had your whole life ahead of you…and it was almost taken away all because of him. I…I don’t regret anything in the least. I’d take the same decisions over and over again even if you come to hate me. My job is to protect you and your sister at any cost.”The young pair was still in shock and practically holding a bundle of tears. Sehun still felt like he was being lied to, but he knew there was truth in her words. He still refused to believe that his own mind deleted every single track of Luhan’s existence for all those years. He wanted to talk, to get more details if possible but it was as if his strength was drained out of his body and he had no idea why he let like that. So with the little force he had, he tightened the grip he had on Luhan’s hand, to give him confidence. The older brushed away a tear or two that slipped past his eyes. He breathed in deeply and let the air go in a deep sigh.“I’m sorry. Maybe I shouldn’t talk but I will do it anyways. I can assure you that I never wanted Sehun to get hurt in the least. He was the first person who truly cared about me and I love him unconditionally. We were still very young back then and in part, I do have fault because I wasn’t able to protect him like he did for me, but I never wanted to leave him. And I don’t want to do it right now, either. I know it’s hard for you to believe me and the most probable thing is that you won’t but that’s the truth. And while I know perfectly that you had to make such a decision for his own good, but you had no right on hiding him what happened. Look at everything that could’ve been avoided if you decided to tell him this earlier.”Sehun’s lips, which were formed into a fine line, curved up a little bit. Since when was Luhan like this? Since when could he speak with so much confidence? He was unsure about it but it was another virtue he was sure he loved. Luan’s words dissipated his uneasiness and he could feel his muscles relax a little.“You have no right to judge us.” –She spat. “You might do as you please. I’ve done everything I could to protect you but if you’re gonna keep throwing yourself to the fire and risking your life then fine. I won’t be there anymore.” –She said slowly. She stood up and left, ignoring her husband who tried to comfort her. Actually, Sehun’s mother acted calmer than they expected. His father was another case.“I don’t care if you hate us. I don’t care anymore. You can stay here for the original time you had planned but after that, I want you gone. I’m not having a faggot as a son.” –He said then without giving them time to process it, he left. The moment they were left alone, Luhan launched himself to Sehun’s arms as they both needed to just embrace each other desperately to release all that things they were feeling.“I’m sorry for giving up so easily” –Luhan said out of nowhere. “I should have tried to look for you earlier.”“No, I’m sorry for never listening to you” –Sehun said, stroking his boyfriend soft pink cheeks with the reverse of his palm. The silent room soon was filled with drowned whispers and eventually, another silence. After a long time, Luhan spoke again.“What are we supposed to do now?” –The older sniffed, referring to the load of information they just revived. He still thought it was un-needed but Sehun had the right to know.“What do you mean?” –Sehun asked then chuckled lightly. “I guess that…now we can move on. I don’t want to keep ignoring everything we had to go trough but I can’t accept everything just yet. I’m sorry, I know it doesn’t make sense at all so you’ll have to bear with me for a while…still, I’d love to hear more stories, Luhannie.”Sehun leaned forward and kissed the older’s forehead protectively.“Let’s never be separated again”“Never?” –Luhan asked, feeling a little better at this new promise.“Never” -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Guess what?
