The First Encounter (1/1)
…What is that sweet smell? My throat is burning…I’m so……thirsty. My eyes opened slowly and I had to blink several times before they adjusted to the bright light in the room. Wait…Where am I? I sat up and looked down at the fluffy white comforter that covered my body. Lifting the blankets off of my body, I could see that I am still wearing the moonlight hanbok. It wasn’t a dream…But…Where am I? I immediately looked around the room. It is a very clean and modern room with a canopy hung from the ceiling and draped gently over the bed posts like moonlight. An open doorway to my right seemed to be the bathroom, so I got up and cautiously headed over to it. There was a wide counter with a sink in one area and behind a door, a shower and bath; but no toilet. After investigating the bathroom, I turned to the sink and washed my face, drying it with a soft white towel that was sitting folded on the counter. When I opened my eyes after wiping my face, I dropped the towel and started to shake. My irises were silver with a black rim around them, my eyelids rimmed with red and black. And then I saw it. The two small holes in my neck with dried blood around them. I gasped and slowly brought my hand to touch it. But just as my fingers grazed it, a sharp pain shot through my neck and everything went black. —————— As my eyes opened I gasped in fear and my hand reached for my throat. I couldn’t feel the wound on my neck and it didn’t hurt when I touched it. Was that……a dream? My eyes adjusted to the darkness and then I looked up. The canopy. The white canopy that hung from the ceiling.
