Farewell To You (1/1)
Luhan zipped up his green travel backpack and swung it over his shoulders. He was currently at the airport, waiting patiently for his flight to Korea. His backpack was heavy and his back ached from carrying it. He scanned the airport, searching for a place to sit down. He spotted a maroon coloured airport bench and made his way towards it. He slumped on the soft seats and rested his head on the wall, feeling slightly comfortable. The corners of his mouth stretched upwards, forming a soft smile, as he closed his eyes. He was thinking about what happened the past week. It had always been his dream to be a singer, to stand on stage, performing to everyone. He auditioned for SM Entertainment a week ago, and fortunately he got accepted. The representative who contacted him, booked Luhan a one way flight to Seoul, his new home. His departure from Beijing would not be a sad one, since Luhan does not have many connections with other people to begin with. His parents died in a car crash when he was six. Ever since then, Luhan had been living with Mr. Huang and his son, Tao. They had been living together for eleven years now, in a small condo. Luhan and Tao had become best friends while living together. They had so many things in common and Tao always made Luhan happy.“Speaking of Tao, where was he?” Luhan wondered. Tao was supposed to meet him at the airport ten minutes ago. It was Luhan’s last day in China and his best friend wasn’t even there to wish him farewell. Luhan scanned his eyes, looking for his best friend. After five minutes of looking, he spotted a tall male, wearing a white tank top and a pair of black skinny jeans. His hair was messy, looking like he just gotten out of bed. It was Tao. Luhan rolled his eyes, slightly irritated that Tao looked so sloppy on a day like this.Luhan waved his hand at Tao and beckoned the boy to come to the spot where he was sitting. Tao noticed Luhan and waved back, grinning widely. He ran up towards Luhan, bumping into a number of people, pulled Luhan up and gave him a hug. Tao was younger than Luhan by a year but he was much taller. His height towered over Luhan noticeably and he was also more fit than Luhan.“Sorry that I’m late,” said Tao, putting on a mischievous grin that clearly showed that he was not sorry at all. “I was late because I had to practice my wushu. My trainer made me repeat the same moves all over again until I got them right. Boy, am I tired!”Luhan furrowed his eyebrow and gave Tao the side-eye. “Why should I forgive you? It’s not like this is your first time being late or anything! You never show up on time for anything!” Luhan exclaimed.Tao took his hand and placed it on Luhan’s face, covering Luhan's mouth. “Stop talking and let’s go. You’ll be late for your flight if you keep nagging,” Tao simply said, as he dragged Luhan towards the airport terminal.Luhan sighed. It wasn’t the time to get mad over something so silly. He had to cherish this moment, because who knew when they would see each other again.“Just tell me one thing, when are you coming back?” Tao questioned as they stopped to wait at the terminal.“Um... I’m not too sure. Mr. Park, the representative, told me that I might not be able to come back to Beijing unless it was a holiday or something,” replied Luhan. “He said that I’ll be very busy, training to become an idol.”“Look at you! Little Hanhan is growing up!” Tao teased playfully, smirking.“Why don’t you join too? I think I could put in a good word for you. Maybe we can be in the same company together!” said an excited Luhan.“Nah,” Tao replied back with a yawn. “Who’s going to take care of the old guy at home? Since your leaving, I can’t leave him too. He’ll get real lonely.”“But, didn’t you want to debut in an idol group too?” Luhan questioned.“Oh don’t you worry! I’ll audition for a great company and I’ll get accepted too! Maybe I’ll see you in Korea someday!” Tao said calmly. Tao looked down at his wrist watch and then looked at the flight board. “Shoot!” he said, rather loudly. “It’s time for you to go now!”Luhan grabbed Tao’s hand to check the time on his watch and then looked back at the flight board. “Oh gosh, you’re right! I have to leave now.” Luhan quickly said.He stopped and looked at Tao. This was it. This was the time to say their farewells. Tao stared back at Luhan, and it felt like they were having a staring contest with each other, until Luhan pulled Tao into an embrace.“I’ll miss you,” Luhan said, whispering in Tao’s ear. He was about to break the hug but Tao only held on tighter.“Promise me that you’ll call when you arrive at Seoul!” he told Luhan.“I will. I will,” replied Luhan. Luhan was getting worried, because at this rate, he was going to miss his flight. “Look Tao, I really have to go.”“If anybody hurts you, just call me and I’ll use my wushu on them!” Tao said. He let go of Luhan, after giving him a pat on the head. Luhan noticed that Tao had tears in his eyes.“I’ll be safe... I promise!” Luhan said with a smile, hoping to cheer his best friend up. Luhan took his fingertips and gently stroked Tao's eyelids, making an attempt to clear the tears away.Tao looked up at Luhan and held Luhan's hand when Luhan did this.“Bye.” Luhan said, while taking his hand back. Luhan waved at Tao and then turned to the direction where his flight was and walked off.“BYE BESTIE!” shouted Tao, from behind, startling everyone near him.Luhan turned around and made a heart with his fingers to Tao.Tao made a heart back to Luhan and kept shouting his goodbyes.Luhan could have sworn that Tao’s cheeks turned a bright red when he formed the heart to Tao. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------It's very long, I realized.
