The Sick And The Injured (1/1)
“Why are you looking worse than me?”Everybody in the room was looking at me. Everybody was Beast. I was at the hospital with my mom. I woke up today with a headache, sore throat, warm breath, runny nose, teary eyes and cold beads of sweats on my forehead and down my neck. I was sick, and being sick was the last thing I needed right now. My heart was still in pain, my head was still spinning with uncertainty, and having a high fever didn’t make anything easier for me. My mom wanted to bring me to the clinic, but I suggested that we went to the hospital instead. We might pay Hyunseung a visit while we were at it. “I’m not feeling well.”I said, muffling behind my mask. It was just Beast and I in the room, Hyunseung had the room on his own (his father turned out to be some clothing mogul) and my mom had left with Hyunseung’s mom after she handed Hyunseung a fruit basket, to leave the kids for themselves, she said. I was sitting on the chair beside the bed, with Kikwang sitting on my left, Yoseob standing on my right, and Dujoon was sitting in front of me, on Hyunseung’s bed. Junhyung and Dongwoon were at the other side of the room.“You are burning.”Yoseob’s hand was on my forehead, and somehow I felt comfortable with them around me, even though I was trying so hard to avoid meeting eyes with Junhyung.“And take off this mask. It’s distracting.”Before I could say anything, he took off the mask himself.“Better.” He said. “So, how are you, Hyunseung?”He had a cast on his left arm, from his elbow towards his wrist, but besides that, he looked okay. He was sitting on his bed with a fluffy pillow supporting his back, wearing green hospital pajamas, and his side table was full of flowers and food.“I’m good. Thank goodness for the painkiller. And I didn’t get to thank you yet. Well, uh, thanks.”He sheepishly smiled, and I guessed he hadn’t giving thanks that much before.“No problem. I know I’m an angel, but I bet anybody would do the same, if they were caught in the same situation. But you’ve got to admit, I was pretty awesome yesterday, wasn’t I?”I gave him a smirk, and the rest of the guys raised their eyebrows at me.“Yah, you’re cocky for a sick girl!”Yoseob gave me a nudge on my arm.“Hahaha!” Dujoon put his hand on my shoulder.“What about you, Hani? Are you okay? Now that you are sick, you must have been in a great shock yesterday.”I wasn’t just in shock, I received a great blow yesterday. Junhyung. “I’m alright. I just need to lie down, sleep a little bit, and I’ll be okay.”“Well, if you need to lie down, the bed is big enough for the two of us.”Hyunseung had this mischievous look on his face, and the rest of his friends snickered in disgust. I cringed at his invitation.“No, thank you. We’re not that close, Hyunseung.”He faked a hurt face.“Ouch. I thought we were close enough, considering that we held hands yesterday.”I gave Hyunseung a scowl, and I sensed a stiffen Junhyung?“… and we could have been close enough, if only Junhyung--” “YAH!!!” Junhyung’s voice boomed throughout the room, and I jumped at the force of it. He gave Hyunseung the deadliest glare, and everybody in the room turned silent.“Do you want to break your right arm, too?”Junhyung growled, his jaw tighten. They stared at each other, neither of them was even blinking, and the air was getting intense. If it wasn’t for Dujoon who cleared his throat, the rest of us could have been suffocating in the thickening stress. And that was my cue to leave.
