Sunrise (1/1)
“Are you cold?”He looked at me, his voice was slightly hoarse, maybe due to the fact that he had to wake up so early in the morning. Junhyung and I, we were sitting side by side on the beach, overlooking the sea, ready to greet the first ray of the day. The sun was supposed to rise in 10 minutes, and I was holding the hot caramel latte only-God-and-he-knows-when-and-where he bought for me. The breeze was a bit chilly, but I was warm enough.“Nope, I’m good.” There were not that much people around this morning. There was a young couple sitting on the giant rock by the sea, and some girls, about four or five of them, sitting under the shade of pine trees not that far from us, waiting for the sun to rise too. The mere sound of the wind, waves and early birds was calming and peaceful, and occasionally, we heard the sound of engines of some boats that passed by. We sat there in silence, as if we were afraid to disturb the tranquil ambience. I could even hear his breathing, Junhyung was sitting that close to me. “Yah, the sun is rising.”He pointed his forefinger at the horizon, and I could see the changes in colour that was taking place at the moment. The dark sky was painted layer by layer with golden and yellow gleam of light, and it was the most beautiful and uplifting sight to see. I felt fresh, I felt rejuvenated, and somehow I felt fortunate.“This is so beautiful, isn’t it, Junhyung?”He was smiling, his eyes were unable to budge from the breathtaking scenery.“Yeah, it definitely is.”We watched the sunrise in awed, without uttering any word, we were too amazed with the magnificent view before our eyes. The sun was already up, but we still sat on the beach. I had long finished my cup of coffee, and so did Junhyung. People had started their morning activities, some people were seemingly jogging, some were practicing yoga, and some just walked by the beach, inhaling the fresh morning air.“I’m glad I accepted your invitation. Thank you, Junhyung.”“I’m glad you accept it too.”He said, his eyes were still looking at the sea.“I thought you are not a morning person. And I never thought you are the kind of guy that would appreciate the beauty of sunrise.”He took a deep breath.“I’m not.” What? “Then, what’s with the invitation?”Junhyung looked at me, he looked gruff with his dissolved hair, but he looked great nonetheless. He gave me a small smile, “Just because.”That was his answer? Just because? Was he avoiding my questions, again?“Because of what, Junhyung?”His smile changed into a smirk.“You ask too many questions, do you realise that?”“Well, you should answer them properly, so I could curb my curiosity.”He lost his smirk at my retort. “I thought you would like to see the sunrise.”His voice was soft and low, and for some reason, he was avoiding my eyes.“You woke up that early in the morning, bought me coffee, just because you thought I would like to see the sunrise?”He just nodded, and his eyes were back at me. His eyes looked warm, like the warm morning sun.He did it again. He left me speechless. “Junhyung, may I ask you a question?”He let out a chuckle.“Keh! Like you haven’t asked enough?”“Hey!”That earned him a hit on his arm.“Haha! Alright, shoot.” “Junhyung, who am I, to you?”
