Trick or Treat (1/1)

I spun around to face him, with a lot of questions popping out from my brain. He however still looked indifferent, with his eyes still glued on his comic. He did talk to me just now, didn’t he? I wasn’t imagining that, was I? “Did you-- I mean, is this from you?”I put the chocolate on his desk, and that got him to look at me.“It’s yours.”His gaze was sharp. I could feel my heart skipping a beat. Facing him like this was nerve-wrecking.“I thought that night you said it wasn’t for me. Why did you change your mind?”I managed to find the courage to continue speaking. He looked at me with an unreadable expression, and somehow it felt like the class was suddenly in silence, like everyone was waiting for his answer.“I didn’t.” He replied. “What do you mean you didn’t? You left me that night just like that, Yong Junhyung, and I was so humiliated. So what’s this for?”I pointed to the chocolate, but his eyes didn’t budge, they were still on me.“It’s yours.”That was all he said, again. This was killing me. Even a rigid statue could give me a better answer than him! Wait, could this be some kind of a prank? His friends were oddly quiet today, they hadn’t made a single sound from the moment I entered the class. Something was surely not right here. Beast and behave couldn’t belong in the same sentence.  Or, could the chocolate is ruined, so that would be the reason of his generosity? I checked the expiry date of the chocolate, and it said that I still had a good whole year before I could get food poisoning from eating the chocolate.  “If this is one of your trick, Junhyung, don’t expect me to fall for it.”I gave him my coldest stare, in my attempt to show that I was fearless of him. He let go a small grin.“I had no intention to do that. Take the chocolate. It’s yours. What you are going to do with it, it’s up to you now. You can even throw it away, for all I care.”He pushed the chocolate back at me. Should I take this? He looked sincere enough, but you could never tell. “Take it, Lee Hani. He really means it.”I heard Son Dongwoon said at me, and he was the nicest of the bunch. I guessed I could trust him. Thus I took the chocolate, and before I turned back to the front, I gave Junhyung a smile.“Thanks!”
