Growl (1/1)
GROWL "Jeongsin High! Jeongsin High!" Daehyun smirks, diving into the air away from his opponents and tossing the ball hard and fast. It soars through the air as the boy lands on his feet, watching as it slickly pummels into the net. The chanting erupts into a wild roar as the crowd leaps up, the sound of the bell ringing through Jeongsin High's victory. Daehyun catches a towel from his coach, wiping the sweat leaking down his neck as the yells subside slowly."I knew you could do it." Daehyun grins as he is pulled into a headlock by his coach. The team cheers, the whole group embracing one another as they've successfully triumphed the finals for the National Inter-school Basketball League. All thanks to the nerve-wrecking, last point scored by none other than the team's shooting guard and captain, Jung Daehyun."Jeongsin High has, yet again..." Daehyun turns a deaf ear to the words as he steps up onto the stage. He's used to hearing these words, anyway. Their division has been the reigning champions since he was a freshman. The trophy is light in his hands as he brings it down, passing it off to one of his teammates as he ambles to the bathroom. He sighs in relief, throwing a handful of water onto his face. It'd been particularly tough this year since the rivals figured out the team's strategy mostly relied on him—basically, he's the team's trump card. He can't remember ever missing a shot in any competition he'd partaken in."Good game," a voice interrupts him and he smugly grins into the mirror, staring at the reflection of his teammate, Jaebum. "Pretty damn sure Bomi was screaming the loudest for you.""Are you guys going to hit it off soon or what?" Jaebum stretches himself, undressing himself. "Cause' she's hot, man. I'm going to take her if you aren't.""Yeah right," Daehyun shoots back, kicking off his shorts. "You mean you're ready to dive into Youngjae's pants.""Fuck you." Daehyun puts up his hands in mock surrender as Jaebum rises, scowling. "You just gotta ruin the win moment, huh?" Daehyun strides over, putting an arm around his teammate."Did I hurt you here? In your special place?" Daehyun juts out his lips, poking at the left side of Jaebum's chest. "Sorry Youngjae won't open his legs for you."Daehyun jumps away before Jaebum can attack him, cackling lowly. "Don't need to be shy, man. I'd fuck Youngjae too if I got the chance to. He's sex on legs.""Hey, don't talk about him like that," Jaebum growls, roaming over to the showers. "He's more than that.""Well, someone's getting sentimental." Daehyun pats his chest, pouting and cooing. He won't ever understand Jaebum's obsession with his friend, Youngjae. He's more like a ball of angst waiting to explode and has a stick up his ass all the time. People would laugh if they knew he was an angel. Jaebum rolls his eyes, turning on the faucet as the water hits him. "As a mutual friend, you should be setting me up with him.""Uh, reality check, Jaebum? I did. He told you to fuck off, like he does with all you suckers." Jaebum visibly deflates, shoulders sinking. "At least you're not Junhong," Daehyun adds in a bid attempt to comfort his friend. "That guy wants to get his neck snapped. I don't think I've seen Youngjae hate anyone more than him.""Wait, where's the rest?" Daehyun glances outside, throwing off his singlet. Jaebum scoffs loudly. "Where else would those losers be?""The girls must be pretty riled up, huh." Daehyun steps into the shower, letting out a satisfied breath as the water runs down his body. "Three year streak.""All thanks to our lovely, amazing captain," Jaebum mocks, making a kissy face. Daehyun shoves him away as they break into laughter, the gurgling of water the only other sound in the bathroom. -- "You did amazing at the game." Daehyun nods, pulling up his most sincere smile. Honestly, he's a little sick of all the compliments but he can't exactly tell someone to fuck off with his reputation on the line. He waves goodbye to the blushing girl, stalking towards his locker. A familiar face is leaning by the side, smiling coyly at him."Bomi," he says, dropping his voice an octave lower. The girl edges away for him to open his locker, arms crossed. "I'm not going to congratulate you," she says airily, "because I think you've had enough of that for one day."Daehyun smirks. There's a reason why he's been willingly dancing around this girl for a while, and that's because she's worth the chase as compared to his previous exes. Always knows what to say."So how about a celebratory dinner?" She nears him, lowering her voice into a purr. "I've already celebrated it with the team, though," Daehyun whispers teasingly, "wasn't too spectacular.""Then how about just the two of us? My treat." Daehyun cocks his head towards her, breathing into her ear. "What gentleman makes his lady pay?"Bomi visibly flushes upon hearing his lady and Daehyun grins, leaning away and bidding her a sultry goodbye. It's not too long before he plans to ask her out finally, but for now, he's enjoying the pursuit. He pulls out his phone, scrolling through tons of his text messages. He stops at the more important ones, reading through them. Hey, dumbass. Grats on the game. Up for a round of pool? He's about to reply when he sees another message from Suho above it. Find me at the library if you wanna. Gotta keep my phone off; that librarian bitch took it away even when it was on vibrate.Daehyun frowns, snivelling his nose. How long had it been since he'd went to the library? God knows why Suho's always there. That place reeks of mouldy wood and is filled with kids who don't have social lives. Suho lucky he has his face and accent to back him up, else no one would have stepped a mile near him. Somehow, he manages to pull off the whole hot intellectual concept without looking like a nerd.Daehyun strides towards the library, passing by a few more friends who send him their regards. He enters the library, his face contorting upon feeling the chilly breeze. He holds his breath, shallowing inhaling through his mouth as he scours the place for a brunette. Suho is nowhere in sight, so Daehyun sighs in annoyance and ventures in further. He sniffs a little, regretting his decision as the smell of rotten wood assaults him, along with a distinct scent.Huh?Daehyun breathes in deeper, brows furrowing as he discerns the disgusting, musky smell from the strange scent. It's luscious, captivating, delectable—something he can't put into words nor identify. Daehyun spins his head as he inhales further, the savoury scent clogging up his lungs and sending a burst of thrill through his nerves.Where the hell is it coming from?Daehyun steps towards the direction of the fragrance, picking up the trail warily. He'd never come into contact with something like this before. Could it be a new supernatural creature? The only times he gets rushes like this is when his vampire element is particularly savage, like the first time he'd smelled the spilled blood of a human who'd been very barely tainted by the essence of an elf.Daehyun picks up his pace, the smell ravaging his senses and turning his cognitive processes into a crazed mess. He breaks out into a run as he sniffs harder, the delirious need to find the source claiming his entire body. He winds between shelves, shoes squeaking against the floor as his eyes dart around desperately. The smell is growing stronger and it's pushing him to the brink of insanity, the frenzied need to identify what exactly it is driving him forward. His speed increases rapidly when he reaches a more secluded part of the library, the catalogue sign stating REFERENCES: HISTORY in big, blue words. Daehyun swiftly weaves through the aisles, adrenaline scratching heinously at his skin and a terrifyingly strong sensation stirring in his gut. Then, he stops in his tracks. He sets eyes on a boy with black hair and thick-rimmed glasses curled up at a corner, knees together and head lowered into his book. The boy lifts his head, staring up at Daehyun with a bewildered expression.Daehyun's breath hitches in his throat. The unknown boy has bright red lips, doe eyes and a lanky built. His legs are long and his hands- Daehyun squints at them, the gorgeous set of fingers against the hardcover of the book. He's definitely older than Daehyun but he looks so harmless and vulnerable in his crammed posture, a thousand books surrounding him.Daehyun opens his mouth to speak, but the sound of click clacks interrupts him. "You!" The librarian seethes, teeth gritted. "No running in the library! Out!" She leads him out by the wrist, tugging him roughly as Daehyun tries to get one last glimpse of the surprised boy.Daehyun is shoved out carelessly, the librarian closing the door behind him firmly. Suho's right, Daehyun grumbles in his head, goddamn bitch. Daehyun licks his lips, running over his fangs in the process. Is this bloodlust? God, if it is, his father will kill him. Daehyun jogs his memory, running a hand through his hair and basking in the remnants of the boy's presence. His scent is intoxicating, breathtaking, and more than anything else... addictive.
