His Memory (1/1)

I was finally able to unlatch my fangs from his neck, letting the memory dissolve into darkness in my mind. I gasped for breath, my chest rising and falling heavily. My eyes were wide and a thin layer of sweat covered my skin. I could still feel the fear that radiated from the memory and the aura of death that loomed heavily in the air. I felt Myungsoo's finger trace lightly over the reddened, healing skin over the wounds he had just created moments ago. His touch was surprisingly warm..."...You saw it..." he whispered. With that, he rose to his feet and left the dungeon so swiftly it was as if he never came, all the while avoiding eye contact with me.  I wanted to wipe away the blood that had caked along my chin from drinking his blood earlier, but with my wrists restrained, I couldn't do much. His blood had been like silk in a peasant's world, incredibly smooth and fragrant with a taste that left my tastebuds screaming for more. Intoxicating. I could taste the subtle hint of power blended into the substance and thought back to what Dongwoo had said about purebloods, about them being the strongest vampires. It was ironic how even they, with their mighty powers, could be killed with nothing but a mere knife...  Forged from my blood. My blood... If my blood was indeed as dangerous and special as they claimed it to be, why hadn't I noticed anything before? Why didn't the hunters come after me sooner, when I was young? I had experienced first hand that the young were weaker and powerless...easier prey... Why had the hunters waited until now, once I was a vampire, to track me down? If they had recruited me sooner, my blood could have been used to kill so many more vampires by now...like Myungsoo. Maybe, if they had done so, he would not have had the chance to turn me...and I would not be in this mess right now.I cursed the fact that Myungsoo had taken the dagger with him. I had seen its ability to sever whatever it touched, and it surely could free me from this bondage. He had most likely locked it away somewhere safe, somewhere I wouldn't have access to, though, considering the fact that I had tried to kill him with it just weeks ago.  Myungsoo POV: I clenched my teeth as my hand gripped the dagger in a vice, my canines elongating until they stabbed into my lip. The scarlet, glass-like blade gleamed in the light, almost mocking me like a joker's smile. I could almost hear it's cruel laughter as I re-lived the memories I had imprisoned in the deepest depths of my heart. The events played on the inside of my eyelids like a movie projector, looping in an endless cycle. Never did I expect to see this again... The echo of screams shot through the air, dipping into my eardrums before moving along to the next being that would listen. I clamped my hands over my ears in a fruitless attempt to block out the sounds of fear. Tears of blood were streaming down my face as I fought to keep quiet. I had to remain hidden. I would be brutally slaughtered, otherwise. Just like my family... 'Did you find him?!' a deep voice snarled downstairs.'No, sir,' another voice answered.'I know you are in here, boy. We will not rest until every one of you disgusting leeches are dead! Do you hear me?!' the deep voice bellowed. 'Father, please! Just let him go! He's just a kid!' a higher pitched voice begged."SILENCE, SUNGYEOL!! Do you have any idea what you are dealing with? They are monsters! They live by killing people like us! Feel sympathy for them, and they will destroy you! They will tear your throat open and drain that blood that gives you life. Then they will watch and laugh while you slowly bleed to death! Either you kill them, or they will kill you! THEY ARE MONSTERS!! NOW YOU AND SUNGJONG KEEP SEARCHING!! I WANT THAT LITTLE BEAST DEAD BEFORE ME! I WANT EACH AND EVERY ONE OF THOSE FREAKS DESTROYED!!'  I bit down hard on my lips. He was wrong.We weren't monsters...We weren't... I hiccupped and furiously wiped the tears from my eyes, unaware of the soft padding of footsteps nearby. 'Found you...' I whipped my head up to come face to face with a glass-like dagger dripping with the blood of my family...  "Master Kim..."I glanced back to see Dongwoo, and instantly looked away."I don't want your pity," I said curtly, the dagger in my fist falling back to my side."...It's the same one...isn't it..." he said softly. It wasn't a question, but rather a statement. My hand trembled; I held it out to him."Put it somewhere where I will never have to see it again," I said. There was a slight hesitation, but I felt the weapon gently pried out from my tight grip."As you wish..."  Linh POV: I needed to get that blade back; it was the only way I could ever hope of escaping from this place. Once out of here, I would have to locate the hunters' scents as quickly as possible...perhaps the blade could help. After all, it was initially theirs. It would carry the scent of its owner; even if it was very light, my new vampire senses would allow me to track it.Suddenly, the draft of a very dark and menacing aura flooded the dungeon. For a moment, I thought Myungsoo had returned, but after a moment, I realized that it was a different presence. It installed fear into my heart, sending me shimmying further back into the dungeon wall, seeking a haven in the old, forgotten stone. The shadows cast all around me seemingly glided and danced like phantoms, mangled hands clawing at nothing yet drawing closer and closer. A blast of cold air swooshed into the room and sent chills up my spine. A figure materialized from the shadows in the far corner."Just who are you..." Dongwoo said coldly as he stepped into the light, his persona completely different from the last time I saw him. A dark aura radiating around him like black fire. His eyes shone like liquid ebony, hate burning deep in their depths.
