His Enemies (1/1)
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYZ MANAGED TO WRITE ANOTHER CHAPTER BEFORE EXAMS^^OK, I REALLLLLLLLY NEED TO STUDY NOW...>.> ANYWAAAAAAAYS, HOPE YOU LIKE THE CHAPTER^^_______________________________ Damn. This wasn't good; I was surrounded. They were all dressed in the same fashion as the first man, like spies out on a mission...or killers, regarding their choice of equipment. Swords, arrows, daggers...but what the hell was the fucking net for?!! I sized each of them up, a crucial step for a creature in the midst of a hunt. None of them were overly built, but that did not mean that they should be taken lightly; any one of them could be as dangerous as a lioness defending her young. Underestimating an opponent was the biggest mistake a hunter could make.I marvelled at how my vampire instinct had taken over and allowed me to see my enemies from the viewpoint of a predator."Did you not hear me?" the man frowned. "I asked, who is your bond partner?"I remained silent. For some reason, something inside was warning me not to answer his question...and it wasn't Myungsoo's voice. You're surrounded...Speak of the Devil..."No shit, Sherlock. Tell me something I don't know," I hissed quietly. The man before me narrowed his eyes menacingly."You're not going to answer? That's fine. I'll find out for myself eventually," he said in a cold tone. Making eye contact with some of the other men, he then jabbed his chin in my direction and before I knew it, they were advancing towards me, weapons raised and at the ready. I took a step back, only to recall that there were enemies behind me as well. Obviously, he was the leader of the group."W-What are you doing?" I stammered slightly, whirling my head around, trying to keep an eye on each of them should they choose to attack at any moment. "What do you want from me?" Fear slowly crept into my stomach, grasping and twisting it like a sponge. I knew that I wouldn't be able to escape them, and I had never fought so many people before in my life; if they were to attack all at once, there was no way I could win... "What else would we want from a nightwalker?" the man asked in an obvious tone. "Look, I have no clue about what you're saying, alright? You've got the wrong person," I said, planting my feet in a more balanced stance, but keeping my weight off them for faster movement. He gave a short laugh."It's been five thousand years since the last nightwalker was reborn. Since then, our clan has dedicated their lives to hunting the next one. I don't believe we would make such a foolish mistake," he replied. "Not when the stakes are so high...""I'm not a nightwalker or whatever you claim I am! I was an ordinary girl that just so happened to unfortunately cross paths with a bitch fucking bloodsucker, ok?!" I exclaimed. You're not a basket full of sugar either. I whined in pain as the pressure momentarily escalated before fading away. He wasn't happy.Like I cared."Just because you don't realize what you are doesn't mean that it's not true. Now behave yourself and come with us," the man said, crossing his arms."Do you think I'm stupid or something? First, you try to freaking kill me, and now you're asking me to follow you, blindly, as if nothing happened? How do I know that you won't use that opportunity to impale a hundred swords into me?" I snapped and he sighed."If that is the case, then don't say that I didn't offer you a chance," he said softly and then snapped his fingers. The men surrounding me lunged.Fuck. Engaged in a swirling dance of flying limbs and blades, I cast all of my thoughts aside. What a nightwalker was, I didn't care; why he called me a nightwalker, I didn't care. Only one thought was on my mind:Survival. And I wasn't about to go down without taking a few of them with me.Fear had morphed into adrenaline and my entire body went numb. I barely avoided a sword aiming at my neck and then retaliated with a sharp rake of my nails across the forearm of the wielder, ripping the sleeve completely off. It wasn't an orthodox way of fighting, but I didn't give a shit. Fight like a crazy bitch or die. There was no other option. However, there was one problem with that last tactic. The blood. It was streaming out from the gashes, slithering down the man's arm like thin, scarlet snakes as he hissed in pain. I was aware that my body was still caught up in the fight, but my mind wandered elsewhere. The thirst. My throat was dry and parched like the Sahara Desert, crying for the liquid to fill in the cracks and drench the dusty sand-covered ground. I swallowed, but saliva wasn't what it desired.Blood...Blood...Blood...I felt a distant stinging on the left side of my waist, but paid it no heed; an echo of angry shouts followed soon after. My eyes flushed a bright shade of red as I turned to the bleeding man, fangs out. I noticed fear overtaking his once confident demeanor as he witnessed the monster transforming before him. I was hungry and he was fully aware that I was out for his blood. He backed away, trembling. But before I could attack, thin silver chains twisted around my forearms and waist, pulling taut against my limbs. I looked back, teeth bared. Twisting around, I grabbed hold of all three chains at once and with a hiss, yanked them back as hard as I could, sending the men gripping the other ends flying into trees and crashing onto the ground. Almost immediately, four other men lashed out at me, also seeking to bind down the beast; everything unfolded like hunters on the verge of capturing a wild animal to be placed in a zoo for visitors to oggle. A thicker chain grabbed my wrist like a cold hand and held it tightly like a little kid would its mother's hand on its first day of kindergarten. A strong force pulled my feet out from underneath me and I collapsed onto the forest floor in surprise; one of the bastards had found the other end to the chain still wrapped around my ankle. Taking advantage of my sudden distraction and vulnerable state, numerous chains tangled themselves around me until I could barely move and the net was thrown over my body for good measure. All of my attackers formed a wide circle around their catch."You idiots," the man snapped as he walked up to us. "I told you specifically do not spill the blood. Every last drop is crucial." The other men all bowed to him apologetically. They wanted to capture me unharmed...well that explained the damn net; but, the main question still remained unanswered and tugged at my thoughts. Why?It didn't help that my stupid mind was conjuring up several possibilities, none of them too pleasant."Sorry, sir," they replied in unison. He ignored them and knelt on one knee before me, his eyes icy."You never stood a chance from the beginning," he whispered as I bore holes into his head with my infuriated glare. Paying my daggers no heed, he rose to his feet once again. "Let's go, shall we?" He lead the way down an imaginary path into the forest; four men were carrying the net holding me captive. The others were divided; a few of the men walked before us, a few behind, and a few on both sides, forming a tight formation around me. They were taking no chances. But I had long stopped struggling; it wasn't getting me anywhere.Instead, I was spending my time trying to devise a plan to escape. I wasn't keen on becoming the next attraction at their zoo...or worse. The leader had mentioned something about my blood being crucial... Crucial for what? The idea of being a test subject at the hands of some crazy scientists didn't sound too appealing either. No, I had to find a way out of this mess.Took you long enough to realize that."Fuck you, I didn't ask for your opinion," I snapped under my breath. "Go destroy someone else's life."I'd rather not. I can't let you go with them. Like I said, this is about keeping the trophy away from the other team."In case you haven't noticed, I don't plan on going with them," I hissed, still fuming. Who did he think he was? Turning me, causing me to kill my friend, trying to blow my head to smithereens, and now trying to help me?What the hell... And how do you plan to get out of this?"Well I was trying to think of a way before you interrupted!"Have you gotten past how to get out of the net yet? I silently cursed. I'll take that as a 'no.'"Like I said, I was trying to think of a way. And how the hell do you know what's happening to me anyways?!"Just shut up and listen."Fuck you." Look to your left. The formation is a bit unbalanced. The hunter with the injured arm doesn't seem to be too confident in his position. He is still spooked by your bloodlust earlier."I'm still not fully over it..." I said, wrinkling my nose. My throat was still pulsing from the scent of blood wafting around. Myungsoo ignored me and continued. He is leaving a wide gap between himself and the hunter in front of him. My guess is that his mind not completely focused. That will be your chance. "Great. That would work...IF I WASN'T DROWNING IN A DAMN NET."Do you want the other hunters to hear you? I groaned as my head started pounding. Now be quiet and let me handle it."Wha-"I SAID BE QUIET.This fucker... Suddenly, an abnormally cold wind surged through the forest, rustling the leaves violently. The hunters stopped and looked around, perplexed."...This wind..." the leader said quietly, but my sensitive ears caught his words. The wind turned into a gale, tearing and ripping at everything in its path. The hunters thrown off their feet, the ones in front crashing back into the men holding the net, causing them to lose their handle on it. Upon contact with the forest floor, the net fanned open like a flower blooming. The wind bit at the chains like little invisible blades that were strong enough to crack the firm metal; with that help, I was able to break free from the bonds and immediately targetted the injured hunter's position. Fear and confusion held him rooted in position, allowing me to push past him with ease; he stumbled backwards and fell hard onto the ground, eyes wide and shaking. The leader had noticed my escape and turned to confront me; the wind however, blocked his movements. "Damn you...Myungsoo..."I froze in my tracks; they knew each other? Only then did I realize that I had stopped just behind the injured hunter, the scent of his blood blowing right in my direction. I could feel my eyes flickering between black and red again. I licked my lips and glanced back.DON'T...YOU DARE... His voice sounded surprisingly weak and quiet, but still firm. Clenching my teeth, I tore myself away from my potential meal and ran off into the forest, away from all the chaos, but not before snatching up a dagger that lay astray from the group. I ran for who knows how long, paying absolutely no attention at all whatsoever to my surroundings or where I was going, as long as it was away from that freakshow. My fingers ghosted over the dagger tucked into my shirt, the cold metal reassuring me that it was still there. Thinking about the blade, I realized that my shoulder and waist had stopped hurting. Sparing a moment, I glanced at them and let out a squeak of surprise to see that there were no traces of there having been wounds there at all.No scars. No blood.Nothing.Nothing, except a smooth span of pale skin. I touched them, but the pain had long ago disappeared. I clicked my tongue in satisfaction. At least I won't have any other disadvantages upon confronting the bastard... My instinct was screaming at me to give up the hunt. I was a newborn, barely a day old, and he had been a vampire for who knows how long, the sands of time having exposing him to his extreme senses and honing his abilities. Obviously, I was at a clear disadvantage there. But my desire to avenge both Lita and myself was stronger.I didn't care if I died in the process. Just as long as I died fighting. My feet carried me to a section of the forest where the floor climbed up a small rocky cliff. At the top of the cliff stood a grand, gothic mansion. Fit for a vampire, that was for sure. My vision swirled again and focused on the mansion like a giant white starburst.There...My fingers found their way to the knife hiding under the thin piece of fabric. ___________________________Ok, so once again, I apologize for the crappy update.
