Chapter Song >> Waves of Hope“Oh my God..” Ji Hyun gasps upon entering the room, her hand lingering on the handle, “Sweetheart, you look stunning!” she comments with a wide grin. Soojung tears her gaze from the window, glancing at her very soon-to-be mother-in-law over her shoulder briefly before returning to her initial position, “I can’t breathe.” she says lifelessly. Indeed, the corset she’s wearing is tied up too tight and the wedding dress is way too warm for such a humid, mid-Fall day. “It’s probably because of the stress, everything will be just fine!” the woman reassures her nonchalantly, “Are you ready? Everyone is waiting.” Am I ready? She mentally questions herself, Will I ever be ready? She momentarily recalls the vague memories of what felt like to be in love with her soon-to-be husband. She pictures herself by his side for the rest of their lives and suddenly she really cannot breathe. “Yes,” she sobs, her hand flying up to cover her mouth, “I’m just really nervous.” She lies, shutting her eyes to focus on steadying her breathing. After a while, just a few moments, upon thinking Ji Hyun has left the room, she allows herself to cry out loud, resisting the urge to run her fingers through her hair and ruin the perfect hairstyle. “Don’t ruin this.” Her sobs come to a stop, yet she still can’t breathe properly as she, ever so slowly, turns to look at her mother-in-law. She stands by the door frame, her hand still on the handle. Her face is stone-like, covered with make-up that makes her look decades younger. Soojung thinks she looks absolutely frightening. “Don’t ruin this for you and my son,” she demands, her voice steady and her body rigid, “But most importantly, don’t ruin this for me.” She makes sure to emphasize the last word. This time Soojung can’t find herself to be strong, at all. Her hand flies up to her mouth again, covering it, even though it doesn’t conceal her loud sobs. She barely hears the door close when Ji Hyun actually leaves the room, leaving an utterly broken Soojung behind. ~~ He ordered the best custom-made suit from the best tailors in Seoul –he has to look stunning. He sent a large amount of money as a small gift to the soon-to-be newlyweds –he is generous, after all. He got a few maids to prepare his cottage house –because he plans to make it his destination after the wedding. Everything has to be perfect. Everything has to go according to the plan. He walks around the house, making sure to avoid any familiar faces from the past. He’s not even sure where he is heading at, not really sure where the groom is. Every second he spends in the hallways, walking past people that may know him, is highly dangerous. If someone catches a glimpse of his face and tells her, that alone may ruin everything. Yet, he realizes that he does not need anyone else to fuck this up when he takes a turn left in the hallway and nearly crashes onto Ji Hyun. Ji Hyun takes a step back and opens her mouth to apologise and excuse herself, however, upon realizing who stands before her, a death glare appears on her face. “You.” Feeling utterly and completely shameless, Taehyung smiles widely at her, “Hello, Mrs Jeon,” he says and puts both of his hands in his pockets, “How are you this lovely evening?” “Cut it, Kim Taehyung,” she snaps and raises her hand in disgust. She tears her gaze from him and shakes her head, “I’m getting security to kick you out.” Alarmed, Taehyung grabs her by her forearm instantly before she can get away, “Don’t you dare.” He simply says, knowing that if she indeed gets someone to kick him out, there won’t be much he can do. “Are you threatening me? Am I hearing correct?” Ji Hyun gasps and looks at him with a terrified look on her face, “I am not letting you ruin my son’s life again! Not now, not ever!” she yells at his face, yet low enough so she doesn’t draw any attention. “Let him decide for himself.” At that point, the door at the end of the hallway opens and a photographer makes his way out, holding a camera in one hand and another bigger one in the other. “Mrs Jeon!” he shouts to grab her attention. Immediately, Taehyung lets go of the woman and tries to act as casual as possible. Ji Hyun, fortunately, does the same and with a fake smile, she turns to face the photographer. “Yes, my dear?” she answers with utmost elegance. The man makes his way to them and with a nod, he greets Taehyung politely, “I got a few photos of the groom,” he says and with his thumb points backwards at the door he had just gotten out. Taehyung’s head snaps to the door. “But he requested to be alone so I had to exit the room. Should I move on the bride?” Taehyung can’t stay to listen any longer because there’s only one thing in his mind and that’s Jungkook, Jungkook, Jungkook.
