Taeyeon's POV "Okay Taeng! Let's test those remedies of yours""W-What? You're not going to injure yourself right?"She chuckled and brought out some kind of dummy."I'm crazy, but not that crazy. I made a dummy that had the same effects of a normal human""Oh" I sighed in relief, but curiously eyed the dummy.We sent various attacks and I applied my remedies. Some worked, while some didn't. I would have to refine them and test them out."Let's take a break" She said and I agreed.I brought the food I had cooked and we ate in the lab."Have you overcome the fire problem?" I asked."Maybe. Still trying out some things" She vaguely answered.I just let it go, knowing she would tell me when she was ready."I received a coded message from Seohyun earlier today. She said they encountered a nest that went underwater. Fany and Hyo are even more frustrated since fire is weak against water"Although we didn't reply, we read the messages she sent us. Often about daily reports and other things."A nest underwater" She thoughtfully said."Could they be adapting and evolving? But these Novas have shown no sign of intelligence" I frowned.Yoona got up and flipped through a notebook."If these Novas are man-made, then they could have inserted...a gene, so to speak, to evolve it. But I agree, it's disturbing to know. For now, I'll concentrate on the fire problem. Taeyeon, keep training" She said and I nodded.We both got back to work. Sunny's POV I was out in the garden, taking notes and checking up on my plants. The headmistresses had agreed to install a greenhouse where I could grow the plants necessary for the remedies. I had to admit, Taeyeon's ideas were refreshing and maybe could be an evolution in healing itself. Only problem was, the plants needed took a bit of time to grow. And they were only producing a little, maybe two people, three at the most, depending on the severity of the injuries. I sighed."Problems?"I looked up to see Sica sitting on the bench."Just lack of resources" I sighed."What are you doing here and not training?""Recovery is part of training" She mumbled."Distracted by thinking of Taeyeon?""W-What? D-Don't be ridiculous" Her face turned red.I smirked as I hit the mark. I took notes and finished for the day."You and Yuri are both annoying, you know that? First, you were playing with them, then got angry when they left, and now you're missing them" I shook my head.We headed to the lab with Sica grumbling all the way."Do you think...we could have prevented them leaving?""I don't know, Sica. But we'll never know, right?" Sooyoung and Seohyun were hunched over something, looking at it intensely."What's going on?" I asked."Just looking at this core again...something is bothering me, but can't place it" Sooyoung said.Sica and I looked at it, then shrugged. This wasn't our specialty."Have you seen Fany and Hyo?" I asked."I saw them in the library, unnies. It seemed like they were researching something" Seohyun answered.I knew they were feeling frustrated at being helpless. Sica said she was going to go back to training and I went to my room. I wish I could talk to Taeyeon about these healing remedies.  Yuri's POV I was taking a break and drank a lot of water, wiping the sweat off my face with a towel. I then took out the picture of me and Yoona. It was the only picture of me and her in it. She had her arm around me, grinning dorkily. It was taken after one of our missions. "Staring at a picture won't make her appear"I looked up and saw the girl that had been trying to pick a fight with me ever since she came here for no reason."What do you want this time" I irritatedly said."I believe you are unfit to be the leader of the NightHawks"I grew angry."Oh, you are a powerful Blazer no doubt. But you are lacking the skills she had"I was about to attack when Liz intervened."Aine, that's enough. We are here to work together, not turn against each other""Tsk. You are too trusting, Liz.  There's a limit to how far we can work together" She said before leaving."I'm sorry, Yuri. I guess she just misses Yoona a lot""Were they that close?"She took a seat next to me and took a sip from her water bottle."Aine got injured heavily during one of our missions. She would have died without Yoona protecting her. I guess that's why she looks up to Yoona so much. Yoona was injured herself yet she and Taeyeon managed to bring us all back to our base alive. We thought we were goners. Aine is hard to get along with at first, but she's a good person at heart" She smiled.I somehow doubted that and sighed. I didn't have time for this stupid squabble she was trying to pick."So what, I have to save her life before she starts to like me?""Well, let's not go that far...just give her time" She chuckled.She was then called to go on a recon mission and said goodbye. I looked at the picture of me and Yoona again. I do miss you, Yoong...~~~~~~~"Sica! Fany! Hyo!" I yelled as I dodged a fire attack.We managed to regroup, but we were all breathing heavily."We're going to get outnumbered at this rate. Even we can't fend this many off" Fany grimaced."Watch out!" Hyo warned as another attack.We braced for it but then it got stopped by something else. We slid across the ground by the sheer power of it...as the dust cleared, we saw...a dragon??? It fired a beam of dark matter into the direction of the Novas. They started to retreat back. We cautiously stood up, not knowing if the dragon was enemy or ally. Moreover, what the hell was a dragon doing here?? Wait, dark matter...I spun around, searching. The dragon flew away. We set up tent and Sunny treated our injuries."More Novas as we get closer to our destination" Sica said.We were supposed to search this tomb that Sooyoung had marked for us. It was supposed to contain something...even she said she didn't know what it had. But it seemed important she said. We had all sighed but nonetheless had gone on the journey. Taeyeon's POV The dragon flew back to us and then disappeared. Yoong almost fell down, breathing heavily."Yoong...since when could you...?" I had been shocked when she had summoned a dragon."I've had it sealed...it takes a great deal of power and strength for even me to summon and control it" She said breathlessly."Any other animals I should be aware of?" I jokingly said.She just chuckled and closed her eyes, resting. I looked towards where they were. They were heading towards somewhere as they set up camp. "You don't know where they're heading to, do you, Yoong?"I handed her a water bottle and she drank it thirstily."Most likely a place called the Tomb of Abazel""Tomb of Abazel?""I came across it during my research. It's supposedly a place where it contains a Lost Scroll that's connected to the cores of Novas. But it's dangerous and nobody's ever retrieved it as far as I know. Too many people have died trying to. Some people said it's cursed or something"I frowned. I looked at Yoong, who was still trying to regain her breath. I knew she didn't lack endurance so that dragon must have indeed been hard to control even for her. Still, I knew there were many endless abilities she could have. If so, just how powerful was she? What was her limit? Did she even have any? We had arrived too late to help them and we didn't want to be seen either so she had sent the dragon. I had a feeling Yuri looked in our direction so we hid."Then we have to stop them, Yoong""If that Scroll is really what it's rumored to be, then it could be another puzzle they need to fight whatever this is. These man-made Novas didn't just appear one day. Someone's been researching this for awhile"She sat up, finally seeming to regain her breath back."Best we can do is try to protect them, even from the shadows"She looked up towards the sky."I have to become stronger. I know we said we wouldn't interfere, but I have a dark feeling, Taeyeon. That something bad is going to happen"Yoona's gut feelings were usually right and I felt uneasy. But she was right. We had to become stronger. Sica, I promise I will protect you no matter what. Even if you don't forgive me.
