Hey guise 'u' before the chapter I have to tell you, that i'm having a LOT of problems with my computer, I'm using my Dad's computer to write, but it's horrible to write using a different keyboard T-¨T I'm asking you guys to be patient, I promise it will not take so long to the next update :3
Katherine turned, her eyes widened as she saw Himchan, he stood there, looking at the scene,it would be a lovely scene to admire if it wasn't the girl he knew for years who was hugging her so-called son whose he never knew about.
"H-Himchan..." Katherine got up, startled. "I can explain... I swear!" She approached the guy, he scoffed."Explain?! Really?!""Yeah..." She scratched the back of her head."So explain." She looked to him. "Explain why are you here, with this boy who's calling you mom?" He fixed his fierce gaze on her, waiting for whatever was her answer for his question."Because..." She was looking for what to say. Tell him a lie? Or tell the truth? She gulped down her nervousness and choose the best, for her, for Seolchan and for Himchan. "Because I'm his mother." She waited for his response."What?..." Himchan froze. He was confused, Indeed he would never imagine that. He knew Katherine since they were 6, and he didn't knew she was married and even had a child!"Yes. That's the truth." Katherine chewed on her bottom lip, then she remembered. Himchan wouldn't suspect that Seolchan was his son, right? So she could just lie and tell him the same story she told everyone else, about her imaginary husband who ditched and she becoming a divorced single mother. "He's my son." "Anyeonghaseyo, Seolchan Imnida." Seolchan greeted the older man (who resembled him a little of the man he always saw on his dreams) with a polite bow. "Oh, I'm Himchan." Himchan flashed a smile to the little boy. "What? How, Katherine?" She noticed the tone in his voice, he was disappointed and he called her Katherine."My... Ex- Husband." She started and told him all the imaginary story, that they married after graduation, she became a housewife and got pregnant, then he cheated on her with some random chick. Himchan listened to everything carefully, indignant. How could a man leave his pregnant wife for a random younger chick and call himself a man? "I'm so sorry." Himchan sighed heavily. "There's nothing to be sorry" Except for the fact that Himchan were the one who got her pregnant. "I wouldn't have Seolchan if it wasn't for him." She stared at her feet awkwardly, Himchan smiled a little at his friend's behavior. "Why are you always keeping things to yourself?" He joked ruffling her hair, something he always did when they were younger. She pouted and fixed her hair. Himchan smiled and crouched, looking at Seolchan."Seolchan-ah, do you want some Ice cream?" As he heard the word 'Ice cream' the little boy smiled sheepishly before nodding his head."Wait, you just had Ice cream!" Katherine protested."Katey, let the boy be happy." Himchan carried the boy, who was hugging the older man, it didn't seem like at 2 minutes ago they didn't knew each other. Katherine smiled and looked at the two boys, they really looked like father and son, that made she wonder, for how much time she can keep this lie and will she ever be able to tell Himchan the truth?Himchan fed Seolchan with the chocolate flavored ice cream, cleaning the corner of the boy's mouth with his thumb. Katherine admired the scene with a smile. She got up, telling them she would be in the bathroom and went to the ladies' room, slipping her phone from her front pocket and dialing Daehyun's number. He wouldn't pick up, she started getting nervous, she needed to tell him about Himchan. He finally answered the call."Hey, Kate, what's up? I was at the back I didn't heard my phone." He said as he answered the call."Himchan...He knows about Seolchan..." She breathed out."What??" Daehyun panicked. "Calm down, he doesn't know about... That he's the father." She ran her slender fingers through her silky black short hair."You told him the same lies you told the guys?... it's $17,50, Ma'am" He said in the phone, saying the last part to the customer in front of him. HIMCHAN POV Katherine was taking too long in the bathroom, I wiped the chocolate mess on Seolchan's face with a tissue, God he's so cute, and went look for her. As I approached the ladies' room door, I overheard some of her conversation in the phone."Yeah, I know." I heard her laugh. "So, how's going with your new... girlfriend? ...Oh, right." I could see the disappointment on her voice, she must be talking to her ex-husband. "Himchan?" My eyes grew wide and I got even more interested. "No, he doesn't-" I couldn't hear the last part because of a waiter who dropped a bottle of water in the floor, making a loud noise what covered up Katherine's voice. The moment I noticed she was already getting out of the bathroom, her eyes widened when she saw me. Surely there's something going on to make her so startled to see me."Oh...Himchan. Were you... By the chance...Did you heard anything?" She asked, a bit too curious."Nothing except this glass bottle crashing into pieces." I lied, gesturing the bottle splatting in the floor. She smiled awkwardly."Right..." She nodded her head before putting her phone back in the front pocket and going to the table where Seolchan had just finished his Ice cream."There's definitely something going on and I will discover whatever it is!" I murmured to myself, before heading to the place where Katherine cleaned Seolchan's messy face. ✮✮✢✮✮ I sat at my chair, looking through those piles and piles of documents, Katherine entered the office, holding the two cups of coffee from Starbucks, she approached me and gave me the Americano I asked. I took a sip of my coffee and turned my gaze to her."Katherine?" I asked, she was sitting on the corner of my desk."Hm?" She hummed while drinking her coffee."Is Seolchan going well at school?" She looked startled with my question, furrowing her eyebrows."Yeah... Why?" She put away her cup. "I was just curious about it... Is he studying at the public school?" I asked. "Yeah..." She stared at me. I nodded."Right." I went back to my papers."What?""What what?" "You... Are planning something.""Maybe." I smiled. Oh, that's going to be."Oh God, I don't even want to know what you're planning." She went to her desk, picking her purse. " I will be back in 2 hours." Said her, looking at he watch."Ok, bye." I said without looking at her, I heard her scoff before shutting the door. I immediately took my phone and dialed Mr. Kang's number. "Mr Kang? I need a favor." ✮✮✢✮✮ NO ONE POV Katherine got out of the company, opening her umbrella as her old pair of all stars clacked against the puddles.She looked at her watch, right on time to get Seolchan, she walked quickly to the school. Being greeted by the teacher."Hello, Mrs. Collins." She greeted with her pretty smile."Hello. I'm here to take Seolchan Home." She rubbed her hands together because of the cold."I thought your Boyfriend told you he got Seolchan home earlier." She furrowed her eyebrows."Boyfriend?" Katherine frowned. "I- I don't have a boyfriend!" She panicked, could someone have kidnapped Seolchan? "Don't be so shy, Mrs. Collins! He's such a handsome man!" She smiled."No, listen to me, Mrs. Kim... I really don't have a boyfriend." She panicked, she was so desperate, just to think that someone could harm her baby. She ran to the park, hoping that her son would be there. But unfortunately, he wasn't there.
About to cry, she remembered, maybe Daehyun took Seolchan to the shop. She ran to there, panting a lot and going to the back, where Daehyun was drinking a cup of coffee. "D-Dae!" She said breathless. "I-Is Seolchan here?" She supported herself in the counter. "No. What happened?" He reached her. "H-He's gone." She murmured, with a shaky voice and then broke into tears. "W-What?" He widened his eyes. "Calm down. Sit here." He sat her at the counter, hugging her shaky body. "I will call the guys and we'll look for him, okay?" He said and she nodded. Youngjae appeared behind them, asking Daehyun what happened, he explained and called the boys. Yongguk drove to everywhere he could think of, hoping to find Seolchan, Katherine was losing her hopes, she was thinking the worst. "Hey, Katey, let's let this to the police, okay? I will drive you home, you will calm yourself, take a shower and a tranquilizer and we will talk to the police, all right?" Yongguk tried to calm her, she shook her head, rejecting his offer. "I won't be calm while my son is alone." Tears streaming down her pale cheeks."You need to go home, Katherine." Youngjae hugged her."I can't! Seolchan is outside, alone, someone can hurt him!" She broke into tears again."I won't let them hurt my son!" She was so fragile, worthy of pity. Youngjae hugged her shaking body, while Yongguk drove to her home, she needed to take a pill and calm herself.
Katherine was so shaken, that she couldn't walk properly, Daehyun picked her up, carrying the sobbing girl bridal style. Yongguk opened her door, letting Daehyun go first, he let Katherine walk with the help of the walls until they heard a voice."Mommy! Where were you? Look at what Himchan hyung gave me!" Seolchan exclaimed, pointing to the brand new PS4. Katherine fell on her knees, hugging her son."Seolchan-ah! I thought you were gone! Don't leave mommy ever again, ara?" He hugged his mother, patting her back."Ara, mommy, If I'm gone who will take care of you?" His tiny hands caressed her short hair, she smiled and wiped her tears with the back of her hands. Daehyun, Yongguk and Youngjae watched the scene with a smile. "Mommy, look what hyung gave me!" He took her by hand to where Himchan was sitting in the sofa, holding two controllers. Katherine looked at Himchan, furrowed her eyebrows, he muttered a 'I'm sorry'. Seolchan pointed to the console, smiling. Katherine smiled weakly. "Really? That's so cool! What do we say when someone gives us a present?" "Thank you." He turned to Himchan, thanking him. Himchan smiled and ruffled the kid's hair. "Mommy, play with us!" Seolchan took her hand and sat her in the couch and jumped on her lap giving her a third controller."Oh no, no, Seolchan-ah, mommy doesn't play." She tried to get up, but Himchan stopped her. "You don't play?" He chuckled. "Seolchan-ah, your mommy used to play games with me everyday." Himchan said, Katherine opened her mouth, but closed it and chuckled. "Really, mommy?!" Seolchan's eyes sparkled in joy."You got me." She said putting her hands up, surrendering herself.The three played for along time, the room was filled with their laughter, they looked like a real family; the caring and sweet mother, the playful and handsome father and the little cheerful son. Katherine didn't smiled like that in a long time. Katherine turned the lights off, Seolchan had just fell asleep and she put him on the bed, Himchan was cleaning the mess he made earlier with Seolchan, a lot of chips bags, candy packs and empty coke bottles. She approached the table and started cleaning with him, he chuckled and looked at her. Her short hair was now longer and acquired a brownish red tone, she must have dyed it a long ago since the red tone was faded, her lashes were longer, her lips had a fade shade of red making them even more kissable.
They finished cleaning the living room, Himchan went to the balcony, looking at the night sky, the sky was even more beautiful in this part of the city. He heard footsteps behind him, then a door closed and Katherine appeared behind him, with a faint smile and a heavy sigh."What's bothering you?" He asked, watching her movements. She supported her elbows in the wooden fence, looking straight to the city lights and sighed again."It's just... You gave Seolchan a fucking PS4..." "And what's the problem?" "I can not even afford a 3DS... You made him so happy... And I almost lost him." Himchan knew by the way her voice was shaky that she was about to cry. He hugged her, kissing her forehead."Hey... Don't say that, you're an amazing mother to Seolchan, okay?" He caressed her hair. "I have something to show you, come." He took her hand and lead her to the elevator."Seolchan will be alone?" She wiped her tears with the back of her hand and asked worried."It won't take more than 30 minutes, I promise. And Mr. Kang will watch him." They went to the car, Himchan drove for 20 minutes and they arrived at an elite school, she reconigzed it, since Himchan used to study there when they were younger, she would always come to pick him and they would go to his house and play until late."It's...""Dankook middle school.""Why are we here?" She turned her gaze to him. "Just... Because." He smirked. She sighed."Do you remember when you used to study here? Even if it's an expensive school, still, you managed to be the last in every exam." She laughed, he pinched her cheeks."Ple-ase, I never were the last okay, I was the penultimate." He said with a sassy-bitch face, making Katherine laugh so much that her cheeks became red, Himchan also laughed. "Somehow, Daehyun still managed to be the last. How can this boy own a bookstore now? He hates reading!" She exclaimed."I truly don't know how to answer that!" They laughed. Soon the laughers stopped, Katherine sighed once again."I wish I could give this kind of things to Seolchan." A tears strolled down her left cheek. To her surprise he chuckled."You don't have to wish, Katey, I enrolled Seolchan here today.He starts tomorrow, the uniform is in the back." He smirked. Katherine widened her eyes."You know that I can't afford it!" She exclaimed, panicked."But I can afford." "What?!""I want to do that, Katherine! You mean a lot to me and Seolchan also means a lot to me, that's why I'm doing this. ""I know you well enough to know that everything I can say will be useless.""Exactly." He smirked, she laughed a little."Thanks, really. Everything you've done for Seolchan." She smiled heartily. "Do I deserve a hug?" Himchan opened his arms, waiting for her to hug him."Yes, you do." She hugged him, he tightened the hug caressing her back with his hand.
