Another Reason For Anger (1/1)

Tiffany hastily hid the certain photo paper under the pillow when Sooyoung came into her room unannounced.  “What’s that?” Sooyoung asked curiously. “It’s nothing. What? You need something?” “It’s this article. I don’t understand.” The tall girl slumped on Tiffany’s bed. “Seriously, what’s the thing you were looking at?” “Nothing. Which part?” She pretended to see the paper Sooyoung brought. “It must be Taeyeon related.”  “…” “Do you want me to kick her or something? Because I swear, I will.” “She’s your attending.” Tiffany tried to sound as nonchalant as she could. “I don’t care. I still can apply for another program or go to another hospital.” “You will get bad reputation and no place will accept you.” “Tiff.” Sooyoung snatched the article and looked at her best friend sternly. “You’re my best friend. It’s not nice to see you constantly sad like this. I want to do something.” “You don’t have to.” “Stop pushing people away. I’m not going anywhere. It’s okay to talk to me. Trust me.” “I do trust you, Sooyoung-ah.” Tiffany smiled gratefully. “I really do. Thank you for caring. This sadness is just a part of me as a human, you know? I keep trying to stay away from feeling so I can concentrate on my job but… it makes everything harder so I stop altogether.” “What did she do to you?” “She pulled me to the surface from the deep water. She helped me to breathe.” It was the truth. She was so comfortable inside her shell. The walls protected her from the harsh environment perfectly. All she ever wanted was to be a great surgeon. She’d do anything to achieve it. Taeyeon was never in the picture of her future plan. However, since she met the plastic surgeon, little by little got to know her, Taeyeon’s figure started to come into view. She never knew she had this kind of passion to belong with somebody. She made her feel so good it’s scared her to no end.  “And now I’m lost.”  ----- “I thought I would never come to this hospital.” The tall, attractive neuro surgeon said as she sipped the scolding black coffee.  “Why? Your father works here.” YoonA asked in interest.  “Precisely!” She flicked her thumb and index finger together. “He’s the reason. I want people to know me for me. Not because I’m the daughter of the Neuro’s head department.” “He’s going to retire soon. People will know you for you. Besides, you’re very talented.” “That’s very kind of you.” Sunmi smiled at the orthopedic surgeon. “My father… he used to talk a lot about Kim Taeyeon.” She tilted her head to the side. “Said she was brilliant, gifted – he was really sure that she’d be the next Lee Changmin. I was happy, you know. I thought well then, I didn’t have to be his staff. He already had someone to replace him. Suddenly one day he came to me, offering me a job I didn’t want. Out of the blue Kim Taeyeon chose plastic over neuro. Why? Do you know the reason?” YoonA puckered her lips contemplating her words carefully. “Neuro was her passion…once. But then she discovered herself more and fell in love with plastic.” “You’re her best friend.” Sunmi stated as a matter of fact. “Nice explanation. But I’m sure it’s a lot complicated than that.” The taller girl shrugged. “You can ask her more if you want.” “I will definitely do that.” ----- Taeyeon walked towards the conference room to get the resident’s case that she accidently left this morning. She had not read it and when she remembered to do that, the paper was not with her. After racking her brain, the conference room should be the place where she left it. She threw a brief smile to Doctor Lee Sunmi when she entered the room. The neuro surgeon who was talking to a resident acknowledged her and returned the smile. “This is one in a lifetime chance. Do you want it or not?”  “Yes, I do, Doctor Lee.” The resident sounded excited. “I can do it.” “Then prepare your best. You’ve got only one chance to make it right. Wrong move, the aneurysm blows and it’ll be the end for both you and me.” Taeyeon turned towards the other two and frowned.  “Yes, Doctor Kim?”Please Subscribe to read the full chapter
