Conceal (1/1)

“You’ve promised, Yoong.” Taeyeon stared at her best friend sternly. “Back off, okay?” “You’re rude. You are clearly affected by whatever is happening between the two of you. You’re unprofessional–” “Oh.” Taeyeon cut YoonA, laughing sarcastically. “I’m unprofessional? How?” “You didn’t even examine the patient. You stood there and wanted to go straight to amputation. What the hell was that?” “I know this case in the back of my head. I know what I will do just from a glance.” “You’re a freaking doctor, Kim Taeyeon!” She finally yelled. “You’re not a psychic! Damn it!”   “I know what I’m doing, YoonA. Mind your own business.”  “You know what? Your thick skull is not going to work every time.” She hissed harshly. “Just because you’re a good doctor, doesn’t mean you’re a decent human with that attitude. I’m sick to defend you from people. You do this to yourself.” It was very uncharacteristic of YoonA to stand still with her opinion when she fought with Taeyeon. She usually just shrugged it off and let Taeyeon be before the fight became bigger. However, Taeyeon had far crossed the line when she brought her personal issue to the hospital. Her behavior could set her career back to zero should the patient decide to blow it up to the media – or worse to the court, if he felt like it.  “Then don’t.” Taeyeon clenched her jaw. “I don’t need your protection.”  “Yeah,” YonnA gritted her teeth. “You keep telling yourself that.”  “I’m not a baby. I know exactly what I’m doing. Stay out of it.” “Whatever, Taeyeon.” She straightened her white coat. “However, should you pull that stunt again to my patient whom I consult to you, I will not hesitate to write a formal letter to the board and get you prohibited even it’s the last thing I’d do.” YoonA walked out from the attending longue leaving Taeyeon with her anger alone.  ----- Sunny rolled her eyes when she saw who was standing in front of her building.  “What are you doing here, Taeyeon? Go home.”  “Open up, Lee Soonkyu.”  The blonde doctor sighed but buzzed her friend in anyway. She knew why Taeyeon was here. The fight between her and YoonA must be pretty big to the point one of them had to get out of the house and crash at her place. And the fact that Taeyeon was the one who take the initiative to do it, well… let’s just say it wouldn’t be pleasant for Sunny.  “My apartment is not a place you can come and go anytime you feel like it.” Sunny said as she opened her door.  The latter didn’t mind her and walked in nonchalantly. She went straight to the spare room, turned the lamp off and threw her body on the bed.  “Taeyeon.” “Just let me sleep.” “You can’t always run away with anger every time problems come in your way.” “Back off, Sunny.” She spoke wearily. “Please, let me just… sleep. I’m tired.” “You should know YoonA cares about you. She did this because she loves you.” “Why is everybody on my case?” Taeyeon heaved a heavy breath. “I just want to sleep.” “You’re an ass, Taeyeon.” Sunny spoke sternly. “Yoong told me what happened. You’re an adult. Stop acting so childish. If she’s worth it then win her back, if she is not then let her go. She’s not the only girl in the world. Go find someone else. Stupid.” Sunny muttered the last word under her breath then stepped out from the room. Taeyeon turned her head to the door staring at it blankly. It was very silly of her to run from stress but put more burdens in the way. No matter how hard she wanted to pretend, she couldn’t deny the fact that this had started affecting her performance at work. She was exhausted with persistent restlessness. However, she didn’t know how to make it better. She was so bad at this. That was why she preferred no commitment.  However, lashing it out on YoonA was not right. She did nothing wrong. She cared about her and she should be grateful for that. Who would do what she did? She was not close with anyone but YoonA and Sunny. Taeyeon sighed in darkness. She really needed to search how not to be an ass on Google tomorrow. ----- Too much to Sunny’s delight, Taeyeon decided to go back to her own place the next morning. It was not because Sunny didn’t like Taeyeon but this friend of hers was stubborn and she was not a fun person to be around when she was edgy.  “I’m sorry.” She mumbled, eyes fixed on the floor. “What was that?” YonnA increased her brow. The spoon on her grip was halfway entering her mouth when Taeyeon showed up, stood by the kitchen doorway and said something she couldn’t hear.  “I’m sorry.” She said louder but still not looking directly to YoonA’s eyes. “For being a jerk.” Taeyeon mumbled again. “Are you talking to me or to someone invisible on the floor?”  Taeyeon inhaled a deep breath. She was so close to snap and stormed out but she remembered what Google taught her. First, she had to admit her mistake. Now she couldn’t do that if not even for ten seconds she wanted to blow up the anger. Slowly, she lifted up her eyes, meeting Yoong’s expectant gaze. “I’m sorry for being jerk.” “You’re forgiven.” The taller woman nonchalantly continued her breakfast. “Take your bowl. Eat.” “Wait. That’s it? I’m… forgiven
