The Wall Between Us - Cha (1/1)
Sunggyu arrived at the hospital but could not find Woohyun in his room. When he queried it with the nurse, he found Woohyun waiting outside the operating room.
"She's my grandmother," explained Woohyun. "My parents died when I was seven. She's been taking care of me ever since but then she got into an accident. The surgery required a lot of money which we didn't have."Sunggyu was quiet as he listened to Woohyun. He finally understood why the boy worked so hard, even giving up school to earn money."Why do you keep things to yourself?" asked Sunggyu. "You should have told me earlier.""I didn't want you to pity me," replied Woohyun.Sunggyu pulled the boy into his embrace and held him tight. "I'm sorry that you had to go through all this," whispered Sunggyu.
Hours later, the doctor came out from the operating room to announce that the surgery was a success. Sunggyu saw how ecstatic Woohyun was to hear the good news. For the first time, he saw Woohyun truly smile."We'll keep her here for observation until she's in a stable condition," informed the doctor.
As the doctor took his leave, Woohyun ran up to him. Sunggyu watched as Woohyun exchanged words with the doctor. He wondered what they were talking about but he did not want to pry into their business.
Myungsoo was just about to step into a meeting when his phone rang. Seeing Dongwoo's name, he decided to answer it. "This better be worth my time," warned Myungsoo."He says thanks and doesn't know how he will ever be able to repay you," informed Dongwoo.Myungsoo's eyes lit up with delight. "He said that?" asked Myungsoo in surprise. "I think we might get somewhere after all."
In the grand mansion of the Hyo clan, Sungjong strode about until he bumped into Sungyeol."Watch where you're going!" snapped Sungjong.Sungyeol was used to Sungjong's attitude that he was not even surprised. "Our young master doesn't seem to be in a good mood," commented Sungyeol mockingly. "Whatever could be the reason?""Why hasn't Sunggyu been around lately?" Sungjong demanded to know."Maybe he's busy," replied Sungyeol. "It's hard work being in his position, you know. He has to deal with a lot of things."Sungjong ignored Sungyeol's reasoning. "He hardly comes to the main house lately," said Sungjong. "We're going to his place."Sungyeol looked at Sungjong who seemed every bit determined to do as he pleased. "Hmmm, that might be a bad idea."
Sunggyu pulled up by the side of the road and parked the car. He turned to look at Woohyun sitting in the front passenger seat. Head titled to the side and eyes closed as he slept peacefully. Sunggyu sat quietly as he let the boy rest. He knew he shouldn't have agreed to take the boy with him, especially since the hospital had not discharged him yet, but he couldn't refuse the boy. It seemed he lost all common sense when it came to Woohyun.
Reaching out his hand, Sunggyu held Woohyun's hand and interlocked their fingers. He felt Woohyun squeeze his hand. He looked up and noticed that Woohyun was awake and staring at him with a smile on his face."You should be resting in bed," stated Sunggyu. "The second I see you in pain, I'm taking you straight back." He sighed. "I don't know why I agreed to let you come along." "I wanted to be with you," replied Woohyun.Sunggyu looked at Woohyun and was quiet for a moment. "I know that I said I would wait," Sunggyu admitted as he leaned over to Woohyun. "But..."His words trailed off when he captured Woohyun's lips in a soft and gentle kiss. He felt Woohyun respond to the kiss. Sunggyu pressed closer as he deepened the kiss. For a brief moment, the two seemed lost in their own world, until they remembered where they were."I'm sorry," Sunggyu apologised for getting carried away in the heat of the moment. "I-""I love you," Woohyun blurted out.
