The Wall Between Us - Cha (1/1)
Woohyun woke up in the midst of his sleep to find Sunggyu asleep beside his bed. He tried to get up but noticed that Sunggyu kept a firm grip on his hand. Carefully and quietly, Woohyun managed to free his hand out of Sunggyu's grasp and climbed out of bed. He flinched at the sharp pain where his stab wound was but he brushed it aside. He took a blanket from his bed and placed it over Sunggyu's sleeping form. He was expecting Sunggyu to wake at the slightest touch but was surprised when the older man remained sleeping. He guessed Sunggyu must have been really tired.
Woohyun walked down the silent hallway and approached the room he had visited so many times before. He entered the darkened room where a figure lay as if in a deep sleep."I'm sorry I haven't been able to visit you lately," spoke Woohyun. "Lots of things have happened but there's no need to worry. I found a new job. It won't be long now. You'll definitely get better. I promise."Meanwhile, outside the door, a figure stood listening to his conversation.
When Woohyun walked out of the room, he caught a glimpse of a man talking to a nurse down the hallway. He thought the man's face was familiar until he recognised the man as the CEO of Kim Corporation. Woohyun wondered what a man like him was doing here at this hour of the night.
Woohyun quietly walked back to his room, trying to avoid the man. As he neared his room, he meet with Sunggyu in the hallway."Where did you go?" Sunggyu asked. "You had me worried.""I'm sorry." Woohyun felt guilty for making Sunggyu worry but he did not explain where he had been.Sunggyu did not get a chance to ask any further when his phone rang. He glanced at the name of the caller and though Sunggyu tried to hide it, Woohyun could guess what the call was about."You should go," urged Woohyun. "If they're calling this late, it must be important, right?"Sunggyu knew he had to go but he didn't want to leave Woohyun by himself."I'll be fine," assured Woohyun.
Dongwoo waited in the empty hospital cafeteria with a cup of coffee until he saw Myungsoo heading his way. He noticed the gloomy expression on Myungsoo's face."Why have you got that look on your face?" asked Dongwoo. "Didn't you find him?"Myungsoo plopped down on the seat opposite Dongwoo and grabbed the cup of coffee from his hand. "I found him," Myungsoo declared nonchalantly, before taking a sip of the coffee. He made a face at the taste before shoving it back to Dongwoo."So, maybe that face is because you saw your competition?" queried Dongwoo.Myungsoo narrowed his eyes. "I hate that man."Dongwoo took a sip of his coffee and found nothing wrong with the taste. "So, does that mean you're giving up?"Myungsoo let out a small chuckle. "As if I ever give up."
Early next morning, as Woohyun headed over to the room he had visited last night, he noticed two nurses wheeling the patient out the door."What's going on?" Woohyun asked. "Where are you taking her?""We're preparing the patient for surgery," replied one of the nurses.Woohyun was surprised and confused. "Surgery?" he asked. "But I haven't got the money yet.""Oh, it's been taken care of," replied the nurse.Woohyun couldn't believe his ears. "By who?" "A man dropped by last night and paid the full fee requesting for an urgent procedure," replied the nurse. "Now, if you'll excuse us."Woohyun stepped aside to let the nurses through. He was thrilled that the surgery was finally going ahead, but he couldn't figure out who had paid for it, until he remembered the face of the man he saw last night.
