#7 (1/1)
2012 - 15 y/oIt had been a week Nam Woong did not hang up with us since the day he left my house without telling. He also didn't come ask me for his books - how will he learn without his books? I went to his class and peeked inside. Oh, great - he was in the class. What he was doing? Study? I saw his pencil, eraser and books - maybe textbooks - he was studying? I never see him studying before. I knocked the entrance door and called for him, but he did not bother to look at the entrance. I called one of his friends to call for him. He looked at the entrance - where I was - and his expression was priceless."What're your doing here?" He asked indifferently. I pouted and planned a joke. "Waeyo? Can't I see my own boyfriend?" My joke didn't effect him a little, but he added, "cut the crap, Han Mi. What are you doing?" - again - priceless expression. "Come to my house this Sunday." He raised his brow. "For?" I pinched his cheeks. "You left your books, remember?""Can you just bring it next week?" "No. I'll forget about them. Come and pick them up at my house, okay?" I tapped his arm and stepped back to my class.-----
I have planned greatly for today. It was Nam Woong's birthday. I wanted to celebrated his birthday just the two of us for the first time. I wanted to thanked him for being my forever best friend.-----
I stepped in front of the gates before ringing the bell. Oh, why must I stepped at this place again? Oh, yeah, my books. You can pick it up next time, but why today, Nam? Because you missed Han Mi and you wanted to spend time with her. It was miracles when Han Mi come to meet me last week. I missed that girl so much.Han Mi stepped out of her house with her casual dress after I rang the bell. She lent me a bag of books then pulled my arm. I looked at her curiously. "Wae?""Let's go!" Again - she pulled my arm. "Where?""I'll tell you later.""Let me get the keys."Han Mi pulled my arm and shook her head. "Aniya. Let's use the bus."We rode a bus to the town and have a walk around. We walked around the daily market and saw many kinds of things as she linked to my arm. We tried so much food and were labelled 'married couple' by the sellers. Han Mi blushed as she tried to cover her shy by exclaiming, "let's eat ice cream." She pointed to the Tutti Frutti shop. I nodded as we walked in there in hands. Han Mi ordered two cups of mint chocolate chip ice cream - as it was our favourites - and I just stood there, waiting for her. As I was about to lend the money, Han Mi exclaimed that it was her treat, so I kept back the money without saying a word because I knew she was stubborn if I insisted. "Here, I'll add an extra scoop for both of you and your boyfriend." I managed to hear those words form the cashier. Han Mi blushed, thanked the cashier then took the cups to the corner of the shop. "Twerps." She exclaimed as we sat. I smiled as I rested my hands under my chin while eyeing her digging in her ice cream. She looked at me with her doe eyes. "Eat up, it's my treat." My hand still doesn't move but I was curious about today. What actually happened? "Is there anything?" I mouthed the words."Anything?""Yeah. Today, is there anything I don't know?""Eumm..?" She stopped scooping her ice cream and widened her eyes. "You forgot your birthday, nummie?" I placed my hand on my forehead. Ah, my birthday. I totally forgotten. "So, that's why?" She shook her head. "I want to celebrate your birthday just the two of us." She added again.-----We stopped by an accessories store. I waited outside as nothing I can do in the store until Han Mi called for me. I was looking through the racks as I was finding for her when I spotted a music treble cleft pendant necklace. I grinned as I picked it up then continued searching for her. I approached her slowly at the men's necklace. "Oh, Nam, bend a little." I obeyed her and bend until she can reached the top of my crown. She wrapped her hands around my neck, then released it as I hear chaining sound to it. "It looked nice on you! It's my birthday present!" I held the pendant then looked at it. It was a star of six corners."For?" I asked curiously when she said she wanna choose another necklace. "Eumm.. Ha Jin." Her eyes were still stick to the necklaces. Ha Jin? I thought that he was too young to wear a necklace. Then my mind figured of someone else. "Was it for him?" Her cheeks began to rose and she nodded slightly. Those nodding and blushing made my heart cried at the moment. I was hoping that she would be happy in the future. That was my promise. The necklace that I thought of showing to her was still in my grip. I thought that it was not the right time."Which one do you think looks best on him?" I plastered a fake smile. "Anything looks good on him." She pointed to a pendant of a crescent and a star on it. "This one?" I nodded then we paid for the necklaces. I made her waited outside while I was looking for a couple necklace. I bought two half-hearted couple necklaces. I asked a box for the music treble necklace and slipped the box into my pocket. I held out a half-hearted necklace in a grip then brought it to her. "What take you so long?" I grinned to her then brought the grip in front of her. I held out the necklace and landed it on her palm. "What's this?" "Consider it as your belated-birthday gift." She raised her brow. "Huh?" "Just wear it, okay?" She nodded. Then we headed to the bus stop to take the bus to go home.In the bus, the two of us were in silent mode. Both of us lost our words.------
Both of us lost our words in the bus. Then I could feel a head had been rested on my shoulder. Then his huge right hand grabbed my left hand. "I'll always be your Suho." He added. This moment... This moment reminded me of our old days in our primary school. We will take the bus early in the morning - while I whined to sit beside the window, he whined for not having enough sleep, so he would rest his head on my shoulder and held my hand. Then he would whispered, "I'll always be your Suho." He always said that he would be my Suho every time and every where in the old days.He was once warm and caring, so I always relied on him. He was trustworthy and he had claimed the heart of mine. But when we went to high school, both of us brought our own way - him having fangirls around and me a nerd - and never had the chance to spend together. Plus, a new person had claimed a heart of mine. This date, was our first date since we went high schools and I was happy to spend more time with him. "Nam Woong." I called for him although I knew he was sleeping. "Eumm...?" He replied. He pretended to hear what I was about to talk although he was tired like the old days. "Nam Woong, I'm sorry. I think this will be the last day that we can spend like the old days. I love you no more than a brother. I hope you can be my Suho like the old days? I hope we can be friends like how we are now and brought our own ways? I'm sorry..." Tears started rolling down my cheeks. I stood in the position - so I would not wake Nam Woong up. "Nam Woong, could you hear me?" "Eo." I knew he just pretended to hear what I was saying. And I had a lot of compliments to say to him and I appreciate him a lot these years.-------
"I hope we can be friends like the way we are and brought our own ways...."Those words were still playing in my mind these several days. I listened to each of her words that day and my heart cried a lot. Today, I wanted to settle things up. I asked him to meet me at our usual place to give him what he deserved."Yo, Woongie." He greeted and we did our usual greetings. "What happened to you? Your eye bags appear.""Ah, maybe I didn't get enough sleep these days." I made an excuse. Yes, I didn't get enough sleep because of the Han Mi's words that day. I took out the other couple necklace and handed it to him."What's this?" He took it and blinked his eyes."Just take it and wear it, bro. Have a seat.""You're weird, Woongie. What happened?""I wanna hand Han Mi to you." I plastered a smile while my heart was aching due the pain of having to let her with someone else. "Huh? What you're talking about?" He raised his brow. I held my tears as I spoke to him. "You see, I'm handing Han Mi, my childhood a.k.a best friend, to you. I believe you can make her happy. Please take care of her like the way you take care of yourself. She's really fragile. Hope to see you happy with her, bro." I tapped his shoulder before mouthing my last words. "So long, bro." I leave him there and burst into tears. Yeah, you did the right thing, Nam Woong. No regrets. You did the right thing.
