At the age of four, her family moved to the US, and there she learned how to speak English fluently. During Highschool she took Japanese and French (Japanese was a class and she was tutored in French outside of school). She speaks them both semi-fluently. Her parents died in an alcohol related car accident (her mother was driving home drunk and she passed out and crashed head-on into Sunjins father who was driving to the store) when she was 17; a week before her birthday.(Please note these are international ages) During the week directly following her parents deaths she put all their money into her bank accountant and arranged funerals  etc. They both left everything to her. Her family life wasnt a happy one so she was unfazed by their deaths.
