In the Living Room (1/1)
Chapter Twenty-FiveIn the Living Room *Back to LaeJoon's POV So . . . he left. And he was gone for the rest of the day, leaving me behind. I tried to look in places we have been before, even checking the ramen shop, but it was closed for the rest of the day. "LaeJoon-ah!" Yongguk shouted as I walked through the door. He reached me before I could even take my shoes off. "Huh?""Zelo!""What? What happened?""He's at his father's house. You have to go!" He looked at me with frantic eyes.Is Zelo alright?"Where's that?"He gave me the directions and quickly pushed me out of the door. I grabbed my bike and prayed that I could get there fast enough. . . . The door was huge, wooden, and very stable. I wasn't getting through that without permission. I looked away and sighed, but then the door opened, by itself, nothing pulling it. I looked around, kind of creeped out a little, but I walked in anyway. The house was huge, too. I didn't think that Zelo could come from this kind of thing, unless when he became famous, it turned out like this. "You can't make me marry her!" Zelo screamed. I could hear his voice through a closed door. I pressed my ear to one of the many doors that was in the hallway. No one was around me and the doors were cold and the floor was marble. "Yes, I can! And you will!" a deep voice shouted back. It must be his dad. I put my ear to another door and heard the screaming even better, figuring that it was the room, I kept my ear against it. "Please quit fighting--" It sounded like the girl who had come up to Zelo randomly. "Stay out of this!" Zelo shouted, obviously frustrated. "Do not shout at your future wife!" his dad yelled. "I! Am! Not! Marrying! Her! I do not love her!" I could just imagine Zelo: his chest rising and falling rapidly from the anger he felt. His fists would be clenched together at his sides and his eyebrows would be creased with frustration. A frown would be clear on his face, making it known that he was upset. I had the urge to see him, to comfort him, to calm him down. I wanted to wipe away the from on his face with a kiss. I wanted to make his fists unclench and have them in my hair or on my cheek. I didn't want his chest to rise and fall in anger, I wanted him to breathe harder from nervousness when he's around me. I wanted him to be near me. The urge; the need to see him and to make him okay took over me and I turned the knob and my weight against the door, pushed it open. I fell to the ground, in the room with Zelo, his dad, and the girl who looked like a doll. "Who is she? How did she get in?" Zelo's dad shouted at Zelo.Zelo's eyes got wide and he lunged toward me, picking me up and running his fingers through my hair. "Are you alright?" he asked me, his voice shaking a little. I nodded and looked at him. "I only fell. I'm fine."His eyes were still wide, but I could tell the anger was gone and that he was somewhat relieved. "Okay."As he helped me up, his dad began to shout again. "Who is she?" he repeated. "She is LaeJoon-ah. My girlfriend."His dad made a disgusted face and got out of his seat and walked slowly toward me. His looked me over with narrow, skeptical eyes. "What do your parents do?" he asked."My mom is a nurse . . . and my dad just lost his job. . . ." My voice was quiet, but I know he heard because he scoffed."Your father has no job?" He laughed. "Fine. How did you meet my son?""He . . . lives in my house. . . ."His father had a look of shock on his face. "So that's where you went when you left here? A random girl's house?!""She's not random!" Zelo shouted back. "She's LaeJoon-ah!""She was random!""No she wasn't!""What happened to HaNi? I thought you two were done!" his dad said, eyeing me with nervous, but disgusted glances. "We did! And now I'm with LaeJoon!""She's not qualified to be here in my room! She's dirt! Look at her, and then look at SooChi!" He pointed to the girl who was practically hiding the the corner. Zelo looked at her and then back at me. "I would rather look at LaeJoon," he said quietly. "You are impossible!" his father yelled. "Look at her! She's not even worth putting in this house!"Zelo shook with anger. "Do. Not. TALK ABOUT HER LIKE THAT!" He pulled his fist up, looking as if he was going to punch his father, but her knew better and he punched the wall, making a whole in it. "Junhong-ah!" I said, looking at him with wide eyes. "It's fine! I'm fine, I'm not hurt by a little opinion of me."Zelo looked at me with narrow, angered eyes. "It's not fine," he growled. He was scaring me. He was very angry. Very angry. "Junhong-ah," I siad sternly. "Let's go."His eyes softened and I could tell he was cooling down. "Okay," he said as he took my hand and we left. "Junhong-ah!" I said as we plowed down the streets. He didn't stop and I knew he had calmbed down a bit, but not enough. He would only stop if I told him I was being hurt. "Junhong-ah!" I screamed, acting as if I had twisted my ankle.Zelo stopped and turned around, his eyes wide. "LaeJoon-ah! What happened?" He bent down and held my ankle. "Are you okay?"I put a hand on his cheek and lifted his head up so I was looking into his eyes. "Please calm down," I whispered. He let out a breath, relieved that I wasn't really hurt. "Okay." He put his hand on mine, and he held it to his cheek longer. I smiled and everything that his father said about me dissolved. "But . . . what about that girl . . . ?"His eyes snapped open and he looked at me. "Girl . . . ?" It looked like he forgot for a second. "Oh, ChoRong?""Her name is ChoRong?" He nodded. "She's a childhood friend, and she was also born into a rich family with a good name. My father always liked her but my mom never did. She was always kind of whiny and annoying." He looked into my eyes. "But I know for a fact that my father will make me talk to her a lot and see her. But you must know that I do not like her and my feelings won't waver."My eyes darted back and forth to both of his. "I believe you," I said, barely above a whisper. He smiled and leaned forward and kissed me. "Good." I giggled and realized that we were in the middle of the sidewalk. "Let's go home, shall we?"He smiled and he helped me get up and we headed back home.Let's hope that girl doesn't mess things up . . .
