Just Forget It (1/1)
Chapter ElevenJust Forget It "Where were you?" I asked him as he slid down the wall and sat down on the floor. "Out," he answered, not looking at me. I walked over to him and sat down. "Seriously, Daehyun-ssi. Where were you?" I asked once more, hoping to get more out of him.He gave me an annoyed look. "I said I was out. Just leave it be," he growled. After that he got up and left, heading into his room. I whistled and then sighed. "It's somebody's time of the month," I whispered under my breath. "Goodness."I slid down the wall and sat on the ground in the middle of the hallway. "Just let him be," someone whispered. I looked back and saw Yongguk, smiling down at me."H-hi," I whispered, looking away from his smiling face and on the ground. "Do you need something?" I asked, my voice soft and quiet. "No." The smile was so plain in his voice I didn't even try to deny it. "Something happen between Daehyun and you?" And there it was: the real reason he was talking to me. All he wanted was the details; the gossip; the "scoop". "Nothing happened," I answered, sighing afterward. "What about you and Zelo?" He nudged me with his shoulder and I moved a little, but I ended up back in the same place. I looked up at him and realized that my eyes were watery. Why are my eyes watery?"Nothing happened between him, either. Absolutely nothing."He shook his head, his eyes closed. "I do not believe you." He opened them and stared at me, sitting perfectly still now. "Yongguk-ssi--""Don't try and find an excuse. You obviously did something to Daehyun and you obviously did something to Zelo. Come on. Tell me."I hated him asking me this stuff. Even if something did happen, if they didn't tell him, then it clearly wasn't his business. To me, the water is crystal . . . to him, it's still a bit muddy. "Look, nothing happened. If they didn't tell you about it, then it wasn't anything.""What wasn't anything?" he pressed, leaning in just a little. I gave him my stare, annoyed. "What?" he asked, giving me the "innocent look". "Quit asking me. Go ask your group people, or whatever." I got up and walked away, in the direction of the door. "But I--" He stopped talking, probably knowing that it was absolutely no use. Please just quit. When I got out of the house, I expected to be alone, but no. I wasn't. Right next to the garden was the curious, confusing, and tall Zelo, looking at the flowers. I tried to go the opposit direction and hide without him seeing me, but he called my name, making me shiver for some reason. Even though it wasn't cold. "Hmm?" I asked, trying to sound delighted as I spun around and gave him a cute smile. "Don't smile. Come here."Gosh. I quit smiling and walked up to him quickly, wanting to go on my walk and think about things. "What do you want?""I confused you didn't I?" he asked, looking into my eyes.I looked away and nodded, scratching the back of my head. "Yeah, yeah you did."He chuckled and stood up, towering over me. "Then just . . . forget it."I looked at him, my eyes wide. "Forget . . . it?"He nodded and gave me a soft smile. "I realized that I don't want to confuse you anymore than you want to be confused."I looked down at the ground, processing it. Then I looked back up at him, my eyes narrowed. "Huh?"He sighed and held onto my arms gently. "Just forget everything. Forget that conversation, forget that I was so close to you. Forget that I took care of you . . . forget . . . all of it." His expression looked a little pained and it made me want to kick myself for running out of the room. "Won't one of us regret this?" I whispered. He's making me say weird things. Quit looking into his eyes!I couldn't stop looking into his eyes. They were mesmorizing and it made me want to fall on my knees. ". . . . will," he answered, his voice so soft and quiet I leaned in more, not getting all of what he said. "What did you say?" I asked. He shook his head and let go of my arms, making his swing by his side in disappointment. "Nothing. I don't want to repeat myself. He began to walk away."No! No, Zelo-ssi! What did you say?" I shouted after him, but he only lifted a hand in response, giving me a sloppy goodbye wave. I frowned and furrowed my eyebrows. What if I don't want to forget . . . ?"LaeJoon-ah?"HaHim.I turned around and saw HaHim running towards me, her arms open. "HaHim-ah~" I sang. She hugged me and whispered, "You have a nice voice. You should try out for the school's talent show." She pulled back and raised her eyebrows. I knew what she was thinking: How about it, LaeJoon-ah?I shook my head. "I don't sing.""But you just did," she whined, pulling me along, away from my house and down the gravel street. "That was joking around, nothing serious." I laughed as she made a silly face. "I'm not in the laughing mood. Stop it."She continued and she made me laugh some more. "Why aren't you in the laughing mood?" she asked, making a silly accent. I giggled. "Because I'm confused. I came out to think, HaHim-ah.""Then . . ." She looked around and then her eyes landed on me. "Then think!" Like that was a "big" idea?"I was going to, but then you came up." I looked off to the side and mumbled, "And annoying Zelo made me all depressed--""Quit mumbling," she demanded, her tiny little finger pointed at me. "You know I hate mumbling. Don't do it."She's always hated mumbling, so I knew to never do it but these past few days, my mind's been everywhere. I keep forgetting my homework at home and forgetting to clean my dishes when I'm done. I've been so 'out if it'."Sorry, HaHim-ah."She smiled. "I was joking. Loosen up," she joked, bumping my hip with hers. "Are you really the depressed?"I looked at her and she stared into my eyes and then gasped. "You are depressed. What happened? Zelo oppa?"How does she know?"How do you know?" I asked, my voice louder than expected. I looked around, but no one was looking at us, thank goodness. "I knew he would end up liking you. Everyone does." She rolled her eyes and we continued walking, looking at the houses and everything but each other. "Everyone? Aren't you over exaggerating?" She shook her head and then stopped. "Okay, maybe a little, but not by a lot. The guy in English likes you, the guy in history likes you, four guys in algebra like you and I think the two nerds who sit behind us in chemistry like you. Everyone likes you." "But I--""And that girl who's seven lockers down from you likes you." She pointed at me. "That, my friend, is proof that many people like you."That girl likes me? Since when do girls like me? Do I even know her. . . ?I shook away the thought. "But you said everyone. Nine people out of the whole school is not everyone." I rolled my eyes at her shrug and we continued walking, talking about little nothings. We've never really been into telling secrets. When I first met HaHim, it was when her friends ditched her because they said she was gross since she liked this guy who everyone thought was ugly. "Why are you crying? Are you okay?" I had asked her. "Because my friends ditched me.""Why would they ditch you?"She sniffled. "Because I like this guy.""What's wrong with liking someone?" I asked her, looking at the friends pass us in the hallway, completely ignoring their friend crying on the floor. "They think he's a nerd.""Then . . . I'll be your friend." I got up, held out my hand and smiled. She grabbed it and that was when out friendship started. From then on, she's never told someone who she truly liked. To her, colebrities didn't count, it was only people who she truly fell for, and she's really good at hiding her feelings since she thinks something may happen to our friendship. At first, I was hurt by this, but then I got used to it and now I don't mind it at all. I realize that it's her own private information and thoughts. And it's not because she doesn't trust me to be her best friend after hearing who she likes, but because she's not yet comfortable with people knowing her personal life and secrets. The main reason I don't mind is because she doesn't push me too much for information, either. She likes to know a little bit of gossip here and there, but if I tell her to stop withut joking at all, she will stop. Unless she's completely worried about me, kind of like now. "So . . . you're not going to tell me?"I sighed and looked at her, but she wasn't smiling, her eyebrows were furrowed and she was frowning. She was genuinely worried about if I was okay or not. "Fine." I told ehr about Zelo and how I felt and how he told me to forget it. "Don't forget it," she said immediately after I said, "The end.""But he told me to--""No, he just said that. He obviously didn't mean it. Goodness, LaeJoon-ah. I didn't think you were that dense." She rubbed her knuckle on my head, making my hair mess up a little. We sat down on a bench in the park. "Then why would he tell me to forget it?"She sighed and burried her face in her hands. "You can not be this stupid," she whispered to herself. "HaHim-ah. I'm serious. Help. Because I honestly don't know. . . ."She could tell I was desperate and she sighed again, looking me in the eyes. "Guys say stuff that they don't mean. For instance: 'Does this outfit make me look fat?' " She made her voice high pitched. "Of course it makes the girl look fat, but what idiot is going to say it. They lie to try and please the woman. Although, we do it too." "We do?""Yes, every girl lies to their boyfriend. 'Am I a good kisser?' " She made her voice low, sounding like a guy's. "What stupid girl is going to say no?"I was silent and she clapped her hands in front of me, making me jump back and flinch. She smiled. "Exactly.""But that's about little nothings, I'm talking about potentially liking someone. Does he like me or not?""I think you're getting too anxious. First we should start with, do you like him." She tapped her finger on her chin as she looked at me. "I'm deep, aren't I?" she joked. "Don't joke around, HaHim-ah. I need serious advice.""I told you, he's lying, but not about the conversation you had in the bed." She looked at the ground and whispered something about how that didn't sound right. "So he was sincere when he told me he may not like HaNi, but he was lying when he told me to forget about it?" I asked her, confused beyond my limit. Please just have this one thing make some sense. "Yes." She nodded, a small smile on her lips. I smiled, too, so relieved that I finally understood something. . . . Kind of."So . . ." she started. ". . . did Daehyun oppa say anything about me?" Her voice was hopeful and she held her hands together out in front of her, making it look like she was begging. I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't help smiling and I began to talk to her, everything seeming lighter on me now. Even the sun seemed to shine brighter through the clouds. Everything seemed perfect, until I got home. Tomorrow was Monday, when school would start and when I would have to stomach going along with B.A.P. Yipdee-fricking-doo."I'm home--""Shh," mom told me as she came out the corner. "Lower your voice. Everyone's sleeping." I could barely hear her whispers, but I got the objective of what she was trying to say since she was doing all of the weird hand motions. They were all asleep? It's not even ten o'clock yet. " 'Night Mom, love you," I called down to her quietly. "Love you," she said back. Then I heard snoring and thought that it must be dad. I smiled to myself and rolled my eyes. After I got ready for bed, I crawled in and turned my lamp off, tucking myself in. At first, I just laid there, staring into the darkness, but then I began to close my eyes and I was immediately gone off into dream land, until something tapped me on my shoulder. I slowly opened my eyes and saw a figure above me. I jumped and coiled up into my sheets and blankets. "Chill, it's just me," Zelo said. Why is he in my room?"Why are you in my room?" "I need to sleep with you. Slide over." He tried to push me over. "No, you're being ridiculous. Go back to your own bed." I pulled the blankets tighter around me and turned away from him. "It's totally fine," he whispered to me. "No it's not!" I shouted, my voice low though so no one could hear us. "Yongguk's snores are too loud, scooch over." He nudged my back and I slid, making room for him. "Ya--"He put his arm around me and pulled me close so his lips touched my ear. "Be quiet or I'll have to make you." His voice was low and tempting. I sighed, controlling myself. My goodness, this boy gets on my NERVES. "Please tell me I'm dreaming," I said to myself. He chuckled, the vibration on my head. Why is his throat on my head? "You would have a dream about me coming into your room at night, wouldn't you?"I turned around, ready to smack him when he caught me. His heavy arm slung over my waist and the other played with my hair. "Let me go, Zelo-ssi," I growled, graling at him. He smiled lightly and then looked at me, no care in the world. "Oppa," he muttered. "Oppa?""You should try it. Junhong oppa~" He made his voice sound like HaNi's.I rolled my eyes and swiveled out of his grasp. "You're stupid.""Oppa," he whispered, his breath on my neck now. It made me shiver and then I wanted to kick myself for feeling that way. The last thing I heard was a quiet chuckle from Zelo and then he began to breathe evenly, telling me that he was asleep. I turned over quietly and slowly, making sure he wouldn't wake up and I was facing him, feeling his breath on my hand as I put it by my face. The last thing I saw before I fell aslep was his face, and how annoyed it made me when I realized I was kind of happy.
