11. In the darkness (1/1)

Coach made it a point that everyone had to make sure that the chalet was clean thoroughly so everyone did their part. Jinyoung and you still reeked of watermelon despite being in the swimming pool. The sun set and the sky was filled with darkness as night approaches. Not only was Coach a good coach, she was also a good cook. In a split second, all the food was swept away by everyone. Seeing nobody washing the plates as they slowly pile up one by one, you started washing them. You wiped your forehead with your arms as the plates seemed to never lessened. Just then, you felt someone's presence beside you and it turned out to be Jinyoung. He seemed to always appear when you needed someone. With his help, the plates were finally washed and you heaved a sigh of relief as you looked at your wrinkled hands from washing. You went out of the kitchen and joined the circle which everyone had formed. Jinyoung sat beside you. It was time for a team talk, where everyone shared their thoughts on this trip as well as Coach's opinions. One by one, everyone applaused for each person's words. Just as Coach announced it was the end of the talk, the lights flickered before it was pitch black. Girls screamed. Everyone remained sitted, looking around in confusion. "Shall we use this chance for ghost stories then?" You heard Coach's voice but couldn't see her face in the darkness. Each story got scarier than the previous one, you got even more scared and grabbed Jinyoung's arms out of unconsciousness. "Then at that moment...BOO!!~" Someone said and you heard Ray screamed along with other girls. Your grip on Jinyoung's arms tightened and you could feel he was a little startled aback. The howling wind at night made the atmosphere more tense and in a blink of an eye, raindrops started pitter pattering on the windows. Goosebumps appeared as the wind started scraping past your skin."Jinyoung & _____, close the windows upstairs while I'll close the ones on this floor. Everyone please remain seated." The both of you got up and made your way out of the circle. The only bad thing about being the captains would be in circumtances like this. You held onto Jinyoung's arm as you crept up the stairs. The second floor was even scarier, mainly because it was only the two of you there. There wasn't even torchlights available since the situation was unexpected. You could hear your heart pounding faster from every step you took in the dead silent floor. Besides yours, it was clearly heard that Jinyoung's heart was pounding hard in the silence. You pushed him lightly, signalling him to close the windows. Then you jumped and ended up hugging Jinyoung's arms. Something moved behind. "Let's quickly close the windows..I'm scared.."You whispered and the two of you carried on closing other windows. In the last room, you could see everyone's bag on the floor, stacked up on one another. The wind from across the door was strong and slammed the door shut. "We're stuck!!" Jinyoung tried turning the doorknob but the door refused to open. You tried searching your pockets for your handphone only to realise you had left it downstairs. You looked at Jinyoung and you knew he didn't had his either. You started panicking as you dug your nails into his shirt, showing how scared you were. You stood there clinging onto Jinyoung's arms as he banged on the door, trying to get help. After a while, you sat down and you pulled Jinyoung. You could see his charming eyes in the dark, they seemed to sparkle to you."What's taking them so long? It's been 15 minutes!!" Ray tried to scan for you in the dark but couldn't. "We should go check on them!" Baro suggested. Ray got up and CNU, Sandeul, Baro and Gongchan followed. "_______!! Jinyoung!!" They shouted as they reached the second floor. Ray was scared and grabbed onto Gongchan's arms, just like what you did to Jinyoung. "Hyung!!" Gongchan shouted as he tried to search for him. "RAY?!" You stood up and banged on the door. "_____?!" Ray walked to the door. "RAY!! THE DOOR'S STUCK!!" You moved a step back with Jinyoung, hoping the door would open soon. CNU tried banging the door open with his body but it was useless. After much effort, the door finally creaked open and you heaved a sigh of relief. 'Let's get back down." CNU said as everyone followed behind him as he tried to feel his way downstairs. Jinyoung almost tripped but you held onto him. Then, the lights started flickering on. The blackout was over. You retreated your hands behind your back and looked away when you realise your were clutching onto Jinyoung's arms all along. It was embarrassing how as the captain, you got frightened that easily.You sat with Ray on the couch, chatting while watching those boring dramas on television. It was the best programme at that time. Ray and you started to yawn. "_____! Ray!" Jinyoung said as he came over, only to find the two of you fast asleep. He took off his cardigan and put it over you. Everyone else started packing their bags as they prepared to go home, except the both of you since your bags have been packed. One by one, the chalet became emptier and emptier as everyone headed home. Ray and you were still asleep so Sandeul and Baro went to wake the both of you up. The moment Sandeul tapped your shoulders, you opened your eyes and realised everyone had gone home. Ray was reluctant to open her eyes until you told her everyone was gone. The both of you took your belongings and left with the 5 other guys. On the way, Baro started scaring Ray and you but instead of being angry, the two of you laughed at his childishness. The wind blew and it made your hair stand. You put on the Jinyoung's cardigan and he didn't say anything. The chalet was definitely fun, especially when you had many interactions with Jinyoung.
