GO BACK AND READ 26 IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY.WARNING: MATURE CONTENT AHEAD.Chen was surprised when Jakyung called him a week after their argument. He had been trying to get her to talk to him so he could apologize, but she had remained firm in her ignorance of him. He couldn’t have picked up his phone fast enough when he saw her name flash across the screen.“Jakyung? Look I’m really sorry about—”Where are you right now?“At the house. Why? Where are you?”I’ll text you the address. She hung up before he could ask anything else. A few seconds later his phone buzzed with the promised information. He grabbed his jacket and keys and was out the door in minutes. His mind raced with the possibilities. She didn’t seem like she was in trouble as she didn’t sound particularly scared or tense, but he knew Jakyung. She was good at hiding things. He pulled into the parking lot of a park that overlooked the Han River. There were a bunch of people enjoying the late afternoon sun, but he spotted her instantly. She was sitting on a bench, eating an ice cream cone. He jogged up to her and took the empty spot next to her.“I have given this a lot of thought,” she said as soon as he sat down. And she had. She was feeling toyed with, but she realized that maybe her purposeful ignorance of his feelings was what caused his outburst. “I’m not mad at you. I don’t have time to be mad at you. I was inconsiderate of your feelings before. I don’t have feelings for you and I should have told you that right away. Sorry.” Chen was too surprised to feel rejected. He had come intending to apologize to her, so he was surprised that he received an apology instead.“It’s alright. I shouldn’t have been so rude about it,” he said after a few moments. They stared out at the river together for a long while, the silence between them not comfortable, but not awkward either. It was just silence.“Hey, Jakyung, Chen.”Both turned at their names being called. Chen was surprised to see Xiumin walking up to them. He was with a short, but cute girl who seemed to be dazzled by him and was hanging off his arm with a silly smile. Chen frowned. He was confused; weren’t Xiumin and Jakyung together?“I guess I wasn’t the only one with a taste for the flavor or the week,” Jakyung said offhandedly, still working on her ice cream cone. Xiumin snorted and glanced at the girl he was with. “She’s cute, Xiu. The last girl wasn’t nearly as pretty.” Xiumin didn’t say anything; they both knew that she was the last girl he’d had any sort of romantic encounter with.“What are you doing here?” Chen asked, trying not to frown. He and Xiumin had come to a silent truce, as men often did, but Chen was still a bit bitter.“We’re on a date!” The girl chirped, pointedly staring at Jakyung. Jakyung stared back, amused by the girl’s attempt at making herself seem important. She shrank back a bit at Jakyung’s gaze, but continued to hold on to Xiumin.“Yeah,” Xiumin confirmed half-heartedly. Jakyung snorted and finished off the last of her cone. She stood and tossed her napkin in the trash next to the bench. She stretched her arms above her head, and both men and the girl had their eyes glued to the flash of flat stomach that peeked out from under her shirt.“Well, if you don’t mind, I’m going to get going. I have a murder to plot.” She picked up her bag from her feet and dug out her keys. She walked over to the couple and stared pointedly at Xiumin for a moment before turning her attentions to the girl. She raised her hand, and the girl flinched afraid of a hit that would never come, as Jakyung simply placed her hand on her cheek lightly. The girl froze, unsure of what was happening, as Jakyung bent down and leaned forward. Chen and Xiumin watched as Jakyung stroked the girl’s face with her thumb, and whispered in her ear.“You’re cute. I would hate to see this lovely skin marred by this animal. Don’t let him be too rough with you, sweetheart.” She retreated, and the girl had a furious blush creeping up her neck. All she could do was nod as Jakyung laughed at the look on all their faces, bid them goodbye, and walk towards her car.Baekhyun had talked to Chen a few days ago about Jakyung seeming off her rocker, but it wasn’t until that moment that he got a glimpse of what he was talking about. She had just openly admitted that she was planning to murder someone and then semi-seduced Xiumin’s date. Chen and Xiumin knew that she really was intending to murder someone, but Xiumin’s date did not, and looked like she wanted to sprint as far away from them as possible.“That was… interesting,” Chen said slowly. He thought it was the sexiest thing he had seen in a while, but he kept that to himself. The girl seemed to break out of her trance at his words and finally unlatched herself from Xiumin’s arm.“I, um, should get going home,” she stuttered. “Thanks for dinner, Xiumin. Uh, see you around.” Xiumin didn’t protest as she bowed and took her leave, and even laughed a little as she stumbled in the grass in her haste. He turned to Chen.“You and Jakyung have made up, I see,” he said casually. Chen didn’t actually know if everything was back to normal between him and Jakyung. They had apologized to each other, sure, but that didn’t mean they would be as close as they were before. Her strange behavior was an indication that any interaction they had would certainly be interesting to say the least.“She told me she didn’t have feelings for me,” Chen admitted. Xiumin snorted and crossed his arms as he stared out at the river.“She told me the same thing,” He said. Chen looked at him sharply. That didn’t make sense to him; everything he had seen and heard had pointed to the two being very attracted to each other. Xiumin felt him staring and sighed. “And she just seduced my date. I don’t know what’s going on in her head at all.”Chen voiced his confusion. “Then why did you tell me you had sex with her?” Xiumin raised his eyebrows.“I did. Just like I told you; in the closet outside the gym almost three weeks ago,” Xiumin confirmed, not sparing his friend’s feelings by skimping on the details. “I wouldn’t lie about that. That doesn’t change the fact that she told me she didn’t like me. We’re not all romantics, Chennikins. Sex can be meaningless.” The words felt heavy on his tongue. He didn’t think what happened between him and Jakyung had been meaningless.“Right,” Chen mumbled. He felt stupid for assuming so much about Jakyung. Of course she was free to have sex with whomever she wanted to, no strings attached. Desires were desires, after all.“Why are we talking about this in the middle of the park, though? Come have a drink with me; I was just abandoned by my date.” Xiumin threw his arm around Chen’s shoulders. “Did you bring your car? I took the bus wi
