That didn’t mean it hurt any less. She spent the day mostly by herself. Chen was only awake during meals because the pain medication put him to sleep fairly easily. Once Sehun was finished adjusting the security system on the door and apartment, he left, and Jakyung busied herself with school work, there wasn’t much of it, so she finished quickly. She was sorely tempted to text Xiumin, then she remembered what she had done, and what she was trying to stay away from. This was better, she told herself. It was better that being heartbroken in the end.Around 2 o’clock, Kai told her that he and Yixing would be by to move Chen back to their house. He certainly hadn’t healed a lot, but Yixing had deemed that enough time had passed so that they could move him without messing up the stiches. When they arrived, Kai could immediately tell that something was off. He didn’t know what, and he had a feeling that he shouldn’t ask, but he gave Jakyung a pointed look. She just returned it with a blank one of her own, and saw them out the door. She was truly alone then. The rest of the day passed uneventfully, even her time at the bar. Yungmin had asked her exactly what happened and why she was sporting a bandage on her hand, but she just assured him that it was a shallow wound, and her work wouldn’t be affected. When she returned home, she went right to sleep. And so passed the next few days. When she saw Xiumin in class, they would greet each other as friends, and they even had a small conversation about a party coming up. It wasn’t the same as before, but she had to keep him at arm’s length, she reasoned; for her sake and for his. Chen wouldn’t be returning to classes for a while, as he still was having trouble walking without pain, so Jakyung stopped by the house a few times to drop off work or help him study. It was like this for Three weeks. Three weeks where Jakyung saw Xiumin with a different girl at least twice. Three weeks where Xiumin had to watch her sit and laugh and get closer to Chen. Three weeks where they both built up anger and frustration towards the other.“Is this really how we’re going to be?”Jakyung hadn’t had time to think before she was pulled into the closet and pushed roughly against the back wall. She couldn’t see a lot, but she would know that voice anywhere.“This is a bit pastiche, don’t you think?” She asked him, nodding her head towards the mop and bucket that had been shoved into the corner. “How long were you waiting in here?”“Don’t avoid the question, Jakyung,” Xiumin growled, taking a step closer in the already impossibly small space. Jakyung’s breath hitched as she felt him drag his fingers slowly down her arm. She didn’t regret wearing a sleeveless flannel tunic that day.“Well you’re the one who’s creeping in closets, so I don’t know Xiumin. Is this how you want to be?” She shot back, resisting the urge to run her fingers through his hair and pull him closer.“You fucking infuriating do you know that?” He said. She shrugged. He pressed himself closer to her and she had to close her eyes so that she didn’t see the heated look in his eyes. “I thought I told you I didn’t like you,” she recounted. “You said the same thing to me.”“I lied,” he shot back. “And I know you lied, too.”“I didn’t lie.”“It doesn’t matter if you like me or I like you,” he continued as if she hadn’t spoken. “We both want this, and it’s not doing any good to deny it.”Jakyung couldn’t say anything to that. Her body wanted him. She just wouldn’t allow her heart that same luxury.Xiumin scoffed at her silence. “How’s Jongdae?” The malice with which he spat his friends given name, almost made Jakyung wonder if Xiumin really did have deeper feeling than what he was saying.“You live in the same house, so you tell me.” There it was; there was her coping mechanism. He didn’t need to look into her eyes to see that she was shutting him out, and hard. It hurt just like the last time, only now, he was going to do something about it.“Shut up.”The pain in her head as it thumped against the back wall was overshadowed by the feeling of pure ecstasy as Xiumin smashed his lips against hers. The stars momentarily dancing across her vision made it hard to concentrate on the fact that this was exactly what she didn’t want happening. She wasn’t supposed to like the way one of his hands found the back of her head and pushed them closer together. She wasn’t supposed to relish in the feeling of his other hand finding its way underneath her shirt and dancing up the bare skin of her waist. She wasn’t supposed to be using her own hands to grab his ass and pull him flush against her. And she was definitely not supposed to be fumbling with his belt in an attempt to free him from his jeans.Xiumin knew he was being rough. But it was the only way he could think to get his point across. It didn’t matter if they were undefined. It didn’t matter that she didn’t like him and he didn’t like her. It didn’t matter that they were clearly angry and frustrated with each other. All that mattered was that in this moment, they both wanted to claim the other in white hot passion. He let his hands travel up her flat stomach and under the band of her bra to toy with the breast the offending fabric kept secure. She moaned against his mouth, and her hands moved faster to remove
