Minji and Soohyun sat in the bathtub. Minji laughed as she made herself a beard with the bubbles. Soohyun pressed his lips together and forced a smile.“There’s something I want to tell you.” Soohyun said seriously. Minji wiped the bubble beard from her face and waited for Soohyun to continue. “Your parents are coming over for dinner tonight.” Minji scoffed.“No~” she laughed. “Your parents are the ones coming over to eat. You already told me about it.”Soohyun took a deep breath. “And now I’m telling you that all four of our parents are coming over.” Minji looked at him in disbelief. Soohyun closed his eyes as Minji splashed water in his face.“This is a disaster!” she yelled. “How could you do something like this? Tonight is going to be a nightmare! Not only do your parents hate mine, my parents hate each other. How did this happen?”“I scheduled all of them without thinking of the consequences.”“SHIT!” Minji got up from the tub, purposely making a mess of water on her way out. She grabbed her towel and walked out the bathroom, “You’re cleaning this.” “Hey.” Minji said as she walked into Amelie’s apartment. She looked around the living room and smiled at the stranger sitting on the couch. “Where’s Bae?”“He’s in his room with Kevin.” Amelie responded.“Nice meeting you.” Minji bowed her head at the stranger before going to Bae’s room.“Sorry for that.” Eli told the girl they were interviewing. They needed a new nanny after the old one had to quit for personal matters.Amelie sat next to Eli and continued to talk to the girl. “Like I was saying, before we can hire you we have to agree on schedules. Eli works long hours five days a week. I work and study, and my schedule on Fridays are different to the other four days I work and I also don’t study that day. We have several people who can watch Bae from time to time, but nothing permanent.”“I understand.” she smiled. “I have a schedule of my own since I work at a daycare.” Eli grimaced.“You work at a daycare and you’re applying to be a nanny?” he chuckled. “You must really like children.”“I’m here to represent my daycare. The daycare is open every day from early to late hours. When parents are as busy as you the best option is to leave the baby at a daycare. We charge by hour at an affordable price.”“Wait.” Amelie scoffed. “What the fuck are you doing here?! We want a reliable person, not a walking advertisement!” The girl flinched at the sight of Amelie’s rage.“You see,” she gulped, “it’s healthy for a child of your son’s age to socialize with other children.”“You think I’m dumb!” Amelie stood up. “I am a mother, I think I know what’s best for my child!”Eli grabbed Amelie’s arm and made her sit down. “What my wife is trying to say,” he said calmly, “if we wanted our son to spend hours at daycare, we would’ve already done it. Bae already knows how to socialize with others no matter the person’s age. The thing is, lots of kids go there and it’s not easy for the employees to attend every single child’s personal needs. Our son is independent for his age, but we still want him to be in a comfortable environment for the five hours neither of us is home on weekdays.”The girl stood up and bowed. “I’m sorry for wasting your time.” She smiled at them before leaving.“We’re never going to find anyone!” Amelie whined. “We’ve interviewed so many people and I don’t think I want to leave Bae alone with any of them.”“What about the first girl that came in?” Amelie looked at Eli sternly.“You mean the girl with no bra?”“She wasn’t wearing a bra? I didn’t notice.” Eli laughed nervously. Amelie made a face and laughed sarcastically.“She’s out of the question.” she waved her hand. “She had no experience with taking care of children.”“There’s still one person scheduled.” Eli sighed. “Lindy.”Amelie answered the door when Lindy arrived. Eli’s eyes widened when they walked into the living room. “You’re Lindy?” he pointed. “You’re a dude.”Lindy chuckled. “Yes, I’m aware I have a feminine name. But please, don’t let my name interfere with the job interview.”Eli stared at Lindy as Amelie interviewed him. His name wasn’t the only thing that was feminine. He had a degree in child care and was well experienced with everything. But what caught Eli’s attention the most was Lindy’s gestures and how passionately he talked about cooking. “Are you gay?” the question slipped Eli’s lips carelessly.“Eli!” Amelie looked at him in disbelief. She smiled apologetically at the other guy, “Lindy, he didn’t mean anything disrespectful by that.”“It’s okay.” Lindy laughed. “I get that question a lot and I’m comfortable with my sexuality to not be offended. I’m straight, by the way. I’m actually engaged to a very beautiful girl that is perfect in my eyes.”“That’s so sweet.” Amelie smiled in awe and placed her hand on top of Lindy’s. Eli twisted his lips and looked straight into Lindy’s eyes.Amelie looked at Eli, “I think we should hire him. He’s the best we’ve interviewed all day.” Eli looked at her doubtfully. “Come on, don’t be a sexist. He’s more capable than any woman we could find. I think Bae will be comfortable with someone who knows so much about children and that can play in a creative way with him.”“Lindy, you’re hired.” Eli smiled.“Thank you, Eli. I promise you won’t regret your decision.” Lindy bowed his head.“I love you.” Amelie kissed Eli’s cheek. Eli grinned and made a heart.“And you asked if I was gay…” Lindy murmured. Eli grimaced at Lindy in response.Eli walked into Bae’s room when he wanted to escape the conversation between Amelie and Lindy. The first thing he noticed when he got there was Kevin and Minji fighting over a toy. They both looked at Eli in surprise when they noticed him.“It’s not as immature as it seems.” Kevin smiled a little. Minji took advantage of Kevin’s distraction to snatch the toy. She sat beside Bae and continued to play. Kevin pouted in Minji’s direction, “I wanted to be the Flash~” he whined.“You can be Wonder Woman.” Minji said, concentrated on the game.Kevin reluctantly picked up Wonder Woman. He looked at Bae and said, “I’ll trade you this amazing fighting woman for Batman.” Bae shook his head.“Want to order pizza?” Eli’s question made Kevin grin.“Of course!” Kevin jumped up to his feet.“I swear I have more than one child.”Everyone gathered when the pizza arrived. “Where are you going?” Amelie asked when she noticed Minji was leaving. “Aren’t you going to eat?”“I have to go home and prepare dinner for our parents.” Minji twisted her lips.“Who’s going, your mom or your dad?”“Both.” Minji sighed.“Sucks~” Amelie smiled, “Well, good luck.”“She’ll need it.” Eli laughed.“Bye, Bae. I love you.” Minji winked at Bae and he grinned.Minji felt stressed as she ate with Soohyun and their parents. She noticed the annoyed expressions the mothers would make every time they’d look at each other. Minji and Soohyun just wanted the night to end.“So,” Minji’s father broke the silence after he was done eating, “I heard that not only was I the last to know my daughter was pregnant, but also I was the last to know she had lost it.”“Not surprised.” Minji’s mother smirked. “You have always been distant with your children. Do you expect them to contact you when you don’t do it with them?”“How did she even lose a baby? It’s not that hard to keep it in.”“I was right when I said they were simply too young to be having babies.” Soohyun’s mother commented. “They’re still kids. They have a little more growing up to do before starting a family.”“I think my daughter is capable enough of having a child.” Minji’s mother narrowed her eyes at Soohyun’s mother.“Then why did it die?” Soohyun’s father scoffed.“Because destiny isn’t ready to give her what she’s too young for.” Soohyun’s mother added. “Plus, my son told me she just wants a baby because you have been pressuring her from the moment you heard they got engaged.” she told Minji’s mother.“Did you say that?” Minji asked Soohyun. She felt her anger build up when Soohyun stayed quiet. “Is that why you think I want a baby? Have you just been pretending to want one too?”“Not exactly…” Soohyun bit his lip.“Then what?” Minji’s mother practically yelled.“He knows he’s not ready to start a family.” Soohyun’s mother said. “They should enjoy their lives before making such a huge commitment.”“Huge commitment?” Minji’s mother laughed. “They’re already married.”“A kid is still a big responsibility that they might not be able to handle.”Minji stood up and banged her palms firmly on the table. “Everyone, quiet!” Everyone was surprised by Minji’s sudden outburst. “Soohyun, tell me the truth. Do you want a baby?”“Of course I do.” he forced a smile.“You hesitated.” Minji cried. “I wouldn’t have gotten mad if you told me you didn’t. Why do you have to lie? I wasn’t going to bite your head off if you told me you didn’t want to or thought we weren’t ready and I definitely wouldn’t make you do anything against your will.”“Minji, I-” His sentence was cut off when she stormed out the room.“I’ll go talk to her.” Minji’s mother stood up.“I think I should.” Soohyun went after her.Soohyun sat on the bed next to Minji and rubbed her back. “Sorry for leaving you alone with the tension between those four.”“It’s not about that.” Soohyun wiped her tears. “Look at us.” he laughed. She looked at him without understanding what he meant. “We’ve been fighting about any little thing.”“We’re married, it’s inevitable for us to argue from time to time.”“Not as much as we have been doing lately.” Soohyun twisted his lips.“I’m sorry.” Minji pouted.“Why are you apologizing?” Soohyun laughed. He took her hands in his. “Don’t listen to them.”“Is it true that you told your mom that I was only pressured to have a baby?”“I told her that a few days before we got married. You know that neither of us wanted a baby that early. You’ve made me happy. Not only for the two years we’ve been married, but the five years we’ve been together. Remember how we had to wait an entire year to be able to have our wedding after I proposed to you? and the wait was worth it because it was perfect. I know we’ll have to wait a while to have the baby we want, and I know we’re ready. I want to be a dad as much as you want to be a mom.
