29: Our Past Part 2 (1/2)
“Hey, you busy today?” asked Seungho as the two stretched, getting ready for dance practice.
“I should be asking you that. You always have so much to do after school.” she smiled.
He chuckled. “You want to get something to eat after school. It is Black Day. We should eat jajangmyeon together; I know this perfect restaurant that makes that best!”
Jaehyun laughed. “Don’t tell that you eat that every Black Day~” she teased but when she saw his cheeks become pink, she gasped. “Really!? Someone like you shouldn’t have trouble winning a girl’s heart.” ‘Because you already have mine.’
“W-well, it’s just hard to find the perfect girl!” he defended. ‘Especially when she’s right here in front of me.’
“Well, I have to hang out with my brother today; we have a tradition that we hang out every Black Day.”
“Oh.” he said, very disappointed.
“But, I’m free this whole weekend if you want to do something. We haven’t really just hang out for a while now.” she said with a smile. Seungho immediately smiled and nodded. “Okay, I’ll just come to your house on Saturday then we can go have fun in the city or something.”
Through the whole week, the two were really excited about this weekend that the morning of, Jaehyun woke up earlier than she usually does on the weekend. She quickly changed into some comfortable clothes and ran downstairs, surprising her family that she was up so early.
“Jaehyun, are you okay?” asked her mother.
“Of course umma.” she beamed. “I’m spending the weekend with Seungho.”
“Yah yah yah, do I need to have a talk with Seungho?” asked her father as he put the newspaper down.
“Why do you? I know that you all like him! Anyway, can I stay over at his house tonight?”
“WHAT!? NO NO NO!” yelled Soohyun. “UMMA! APPA!”
“Jaehyun, do we have to have the talk?” asked umma as she placed her bowl of cereal in front of her only daughter.
“EW! UMMA! We don’t need to have the talk again!” she exclaimed.
“Again? Yobo, when did you give our daughter the talk?” asked appa.
Umma looked away and whistled. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“So can I? We were planning on renting a lot of movies and watching them all tonight and yes, his parents and brother will be home all night.”
Her parents looked at each other then sighed. “Fine.”
Jaehyun grinned as she finished her cereal then went up to pack after kissing her parents and brother on the cheek. “I love you all.”
She grabbed her stuff from her room and then ran out the door, almost running Seungri over. “Whoa~ where’s the fire?”
“Can’t talk; I’ll talk to you tomorrow Seung!” she waved good-bye as she ran down the street.
Seungri walked into the house, scratching his head. “Hey, should I be worried about Jaehyun?”
Soohyun sighed. “I’d been worried about her since day one.”
Jaehyun walked up to the door and rang the bell. She shifted her weight between her feet as she waited for someone to open the door. After a few minutes, she was about to ring the bell again when someone opened the door. “NOONA!” grinned the boy.
She smiled to Seungho’s little brother. “Hey, is your brother up yet?” she asked as she stepped into the house.
He shook his head. “Nope~ Still asleep as always~!”
Jaehyun giggled. “Even I woke up early for today! Oh well, I’ll go wake him up.” She ventured upstairs and entered his room to see that he was really still sleeping. She dropped her backpack by the door then walked over to his bed. Before waking him up, she leaned down and examined his sleeping figure and smiled. “Seungho….” She poked his cheek and giggled. “Yah! Wake up! You’re supposed to spend the day with me.”
He groaned and turned to other side. “Sleep….” he mumbled but she continued to poke him.
“Wake up! Wake up! Wake up! Wake u-!” Before she could finish, he pulled her down onto the bed and into a tight embrace. “Y-YAH!” she shouted as her face turned red due to the fact that he was sleeping without a shirt.
“You and I know that we never get up this early on the weekends.” he said as he looked down at her. “Go to sleep; when we wake up, we can go.”
“B-but-“ He cut her off.
“No ‘but’s.” he said as he leaned in closer to her. “Just go to sleep.” he added when their nose touched then he immediately fell back asleep.
Jaehyun looked at his face at close up and she couldn’t stop her heart from beating so hard against her chest. ‘I can’t believe you make me feel this way, Yang Seung Ho.’ she thought as she cuddle up against his chest and fell asleep listening to his heart beat.
Jaehyun grumbled as she felt someone poking her side. She smacked the hand away then turned to the other side. “Jae! Wake up already!”
She frowned as she opened one eye to see a fully dressed Seungho standing above her. “You’re fault.” she mumbled as she turned away.
He licked his lips out of habit and slowly got next to her on bed then tickled her to wake her up but it didn’t work out the way he wanted. “Darn, I forgot that you aren’t ticklish.” he sighed as he scratched his head. Thinking of something, he leaned down and kissed her bare shoulder causing her to jump and moved away from him. He smirked. “I knew that would work.”
“Yah! Seungho! Why did you do that!?” she yelled as she sat up.
He smiled and stood up. “Cause we should get going. Now hurry up.” he said as he left.
Jaehyun glanced at his alarm clock and jumped out of bed when she realized that it was already one in the afternoon. “Yah! Why didn’t you wake me up earlier!?” she yelled as she ran down the stairs.
Seungho shrugged. “I got up at noon and went to get ready.”
“It takes you a whole hour to get ready? What are you? A girl? Even I don’t take that long!”
He stuck out his tongue. “That’s why I look better than you.”
She rolled her eyes. “Please, we both know I’m beautiful.” she said with a laugh. He didn’t say anything, instead he just smiled at her. She looped her arm with his and looked up to him. “Let’s go, Seungho!”
He nodded as he opened the door. “Of course!”
The two mostly went around to the shops that they had in town, but since they didn’t have much money with them, all they could do that window shop. After an hour, they decided to take a snack break. Jaehyun sat on a bench while Seungho went looking for something to eat. After a few minutes, he came out with a white plastic bag and tossed the bag towards her. She caught it and made a face when she saw that he only bought one back of onion ring chips. She sighed. “I can’t believe how broke we are.” she said as she opened the bag and offered it to him first since he bought it.
Seungho took out one and placed it in his mouth. “We’re high school students; we’re not expected to have that much money.”
“Yeah, high school students.” she said. “Seungho?”
“Hm?” he hummed as he ate more of the chips.
“Have you decided on what university you plan to attend?” she asked as she looked down at her shoes.
He looked at her then at the sky. “Right, this is my last year.”
“Yup. You’re going to be busier soon because of the college entrance exams and stuff.”
“That…” he took a deep breath. “That doesn’t mean that I won’t have time for you anymore.” She turned to look at him. “Yeah, I’m going to university soon, but I’ll come back and visit and such. Then there are cell phones now and everything!” He smiled at her. “Don’t worry about it, okay? We’ll always be together.”
She smiled and held out her pinky. “Pinky promise?”
He chuckled and hooked his pinky with hers. “Pinky promise.”
Jaehyun sighed happily as she stretched. “I can’t believe she’s giving us a free day!” she exclaimed as she ran towards the tree and laid down under the shade.
Seungho laughed as he took off his school jacket and dropped it on her legs. “Well, maybe because we third years actually have to do something.” he said as he sat down next to her.
She sat up and looked at him. “Then why aren’t you doing it?”
He smirked and ruffled her hair. “Because I already finished it.”
She giggled as she lied back down on the grass. “Well, I’m going to nap. Wake me up fifteen minutes before our next class starts.”
