023. spray paint ; woohyu (1/1)
(I know it's not too good, but I needed to write something like this to get my fic-writing feel back!) ---------------------------------In the soft light from a streetlamp, two figures were seen in the middle of the night. Their talking and laughing was muffled by their masks, that were protecting them from toxic air. The souds of spraycans being shaken, used and thrown on the ground sounded do misplaced in the dark. They had to step back at times, look at their work, before going back and fix, adding things to their art. That's what they did. Art. If you asked them, what they did was art and the fact that it was forbidden by law did not make a difference - art was made to be seen.
Their talking stopped when they heared the sirens from a policecar coming their way, they knew that even if the police wasn't originally looking for them (but maybe they were) they sure would not get away with spraying up a painting on a tunnel wall. They quickly got all their cans in a backback that one of them carried, and they ran."We couldn't finish..." Woohyun sighed as they entered his apartment, where he lived on his own during school-times.
"We'll go back in a few days. Hopefully it won't be gone yet." Sunggyu smiled at him and pushed him out of the way so he could get to the bathroom - he needed to wash some spray paint off his hands.
" 'Kay. Are you gonna crash here again or do you have to go home?"
"Can I crash here? I don't feel like going home now. It's 2 am... My mom would be pissed if I woke her up."
They cleaned up and changed clothes, the ones they used for spray painting in the middle of the night smelled of paint and would just stain everything in Woohyun's apartment. Even more than what already was stained, that is. They ended up in Woohyun's bed, sitting on it and planning their next artpiece, something they always did when Sunggyu stayed there. Which was becoming more and more often these past months.
"We need to paint something big. Where people can see it. I mean, in the two years we've been at this, not even half of it has been seen by a lot of people and some of it isn't even finished." Sunggyu sighed and laid down, his face down against the pillow.
"But what they saw was fucking good. You can't deny it!" Woohyun reached under his bed and pulled out a paperblock and a pencil, patting Sunggyu's thigh to get him to sit back up.
"I know. But we need to do even better..."
The conversation went on for almost an hour, and ended with the two falling asleep next to eachother. As always. They had gotten a few ideas, and they knew where they would paint the next time. It was just the motive that had to be chosen."Get the fuck up, we'll be late again." Sunggyu pushed the still sleeping Woohyun off the bed, making him fall to the floor and wake up. "How do you even make it to school? You don't wake up!" He laughed and helped Woohyun up.
"I usually wake up... You know I do!" He punched Sunggyu's arm and they quickly got reasy to go to school. Coming in late when you were in your final year wasn't exactly the best thing, so they had to hurry. They both had too many late arrivals already. Except for them often being late, they were both alright students. Maybe not 'best of the class', but they made it through courses and (most of the time) left their different assignments in at the right time. It was just that they stayed up so late every night, painting, that had them coming in late a lot. "See you both decided to come today, and at the right time!" Their teacher said as they walked into the classroom. They were the last ones in, but they were in time. Giving her a grunt as an answer, Sunggyu sat down by a desk and pulled Woohyun down next to him.
The day went by as usual. They met their friends, talked about theirs and their friends' art (they were able to decide what they'd paint with some help from their friends) and made it to all of the classes in time. When they got back to Woohyun's amartment, Sunggyu realized he should probably go home - he hadn't been home in almost three days.
He pushed his clothes down his backpack, and after saying goodbye he ran out the door and hurried home. His mother would probably be mad at him for not being home.
When the door closed behind Sunggyu, Woohyun who was standing agaist a wall slid down on the floor. He sighed loudly, holding his face in his hands and wishing he would have some more confidence. Wishing he could be as good as Sunggyu was, at spray painting, at making people laugh, at being good, wishing he knew why his heart decided to do this to him. Making him fall for him best friend.
He dragged himself into his kitchen, looking for something to eat and finding some instant noodles. He sat on a kitchencounter while eating, completely ignoring the table with the two chairs standing two meters away from him. He didn't like sitting there alone anyways.
After eating, he spent some time on the internet, doing useless things as always, before he realized it was past midnight and he went to sleep.
His bed felt empty without Sunggyu in it, though. The next morning they met at school - in time, since none of them had been out the night before.
"Tomorrow, we do it, 'kay?" Sunggyu whispered to Woohyun who nodded in agreement before they walked int othe classroom. And, the next day after school, Sunggyu joined Woohyun to his apartment and they packed a bag with a lot of different spray paint-bottles, and they waited a few hours so it'd be dark before changing their clothes, putting on masks and going outside. They went out as soon as the darkness had laid over the city, the only light coming from streetlights and a few windows here and there. It was a bit cold, and Woohyun rubbed his hands against each other to make them warmer.
"So. Here we go." They stood infront of a big wall, which was a part of an enclosure that was all around a high-priced school. They knew that if they were caught it'd cause them a lot of trouble, but they were professionals at running away. So getting caught wasn't something they were too worried about.
They both started spraying where they marked out the middle, and then worked outwards, switching sides at times, helping and correcting the others work to make it perfect. It went faster than they thought, only about four hours, so when it was around 3 am, they stepped back for the last time and looked at their work. It was perfect. They both got filled with a feeling of happiness and success as they looked at it; it was a big painting that was recognized as the heart of their hometown, but dirtier than shown to the people living there. There was garbage on the painted ground, people walking around with masks as if they needed to protect themselves from some disease, and in the left bottom corner they had left their signatures. Not their own names, of course, as what they did was illegal. But their signatures, two skulls in blue and green, were known by a lot of other painters out there and they were highly respected. Sunggyu stayed at Woohyun's place that night. They slept in Woohyun's small bed, and as Sunggyu fell asleep instantly, Woohyun couldn't. It had been like this for months, but he hadn't understood why until just about one month ago. He had caught himself thinking about Sunggyu in far more than just friendly ways, and he tried to shake it off, but it grew harder into him and after a while he just gave up. He had no plans of confessing though. He thought he'd just be rejected and left alone as Sunggyu wouldn't want to be around him anymore, and he's rather be painfully in love with his bestfriend and still have him by his side than lose it all. Woohyun soon fell asleep as well, his mind clouded with thoughts of how Sunggyu would leave him if he told him.If he only knew what Sunggyu was dreaming.Waking up by the alarm just a few hours later, Sunggyu shut it off in an instant. They only had one lesson today - they could skip it. He knew Woohyun wouldn't mind. Falling back asleep, his mind continued with his dream. Woohyun woke up just an hour later. He understood what Sunggyu had done, and as Sunggyu expected, he didn't mind at all. His eyes went to Sunggyu, whose face was just centimeters away from his. It took all of his willpower not to kiss him. Or atleast until he heard his own name coming out of Sunggyu's mouth, followed by a moan and Sunggyu waking up by his own voice. He realized what he had done and his cheeks went red, the second he tried to get out of the bed Woohyun pulled him back and kissed him.
