Chapter oo3. (1/1)
Ten Years LaterThrough those ten years, the kingdom was left in ruins under Callista’s rule. Julius, her most trustworthy swordsman stood behind her, stiff and hands shaking, “Your highness,” He started, darting his eyes double checking if anyone was near, “Today is your step daughter’s birthdate.” Callista’s eyes widen, her body swiftly turning around, “Did I hear you correctly?” Callista swept around Julius, growling, “How foolish for me to forget my own step daughter’s coming of age.”-------------------------------Sooyun stared at the small glowing fire, her eyes tracing the cell bars for the millionth time. She had remembered ten years ago, everything was going seamlessly swell before her father had gone off and married another woman. Though, the woman wasn’t just any woman, Sooyun had learned from the reckless guards that Queen Callista, her own step mother was a dark sorcerer, the master of the Dark Army.Parched, Sooyun pushed herself off the way, walking slowly towards the cell bars. “Happy Birthday to you, Princess Sooyun.” She bitterly said, “May all be fabulous.” Her eyes seemed to glow in the firelight.Ten years suck behind metal bars, ten years watching as the kingdom fell into ruins, ten years of seeing an dreadful woman take over what would’ve been hers. For ten years, she could do nothing but wait, but now, Sooyun was going to escape.-------------------------------Queen Callista stared out of her balcony in the throne room, an acrimonious smile curved onto her lively reddish lips. Her hair flowed down her back, her skin glowed per usual. “Julius.” She called, the young man stepped forward, bowing, “Yes my Queen?” He asked, wincing as she turned around, “Leave the room, I have some business I need to converse about to someone.”Julius bows one last time, slowly walking out of the room, back stiff.Elegantly striding towards the magical golden mirror, the Queen help her head up high, words gliding off her tongue, “Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?”Once again like before, the strange liquid slithered out of the mirror, forming it’s per usual, golden faceless figure, though could be seen through only the Queen’s eyes. The figure responded, “You, my Queen, are still the fairest of them all.” The Queen smiled triumphantly.“However,” The mirror began Callista’s smile soon wiped off her face, “There is another destined to surpass you.” Queen Callista froze, a memory, rewinding itself in her head. Remembering the mirror had warned her about this ‘another’, her eyes darken copiously, “Who is this another, tell me!”“Do be patient, my lady,” The mirror started, “This another, was in your grasp for years…..do you not remember your own step daughter?” The Queen’s eyes enlarged as the figure of Sooyun flashed in her head, “Sooyun.” The Queen narrowed her eyes, anger seeping through her skin.“How do I stop her?” The Queen quietly questioned, inching forward. The golden faceless figure shifted back as he responded in an intimidating manner , “Consume her heart,”“And you shall live forever.”The figure fell back, disappearing back into the mirror. Callista stood there as she screamed, “Bring me my step daughter!”-------------------------------Sooyun eyes quickly snapped open as she heard the sound of keys jangling and whispers. “With the Queen under control of the kingdom, do you not think this kingdom will one day fall?”Panicking, Sooyun stood up, pressing herself against the wall, pursing her red lips. The cell door opens, as the two guards enter, mumbling to their selves. Waiting for the right moment, Sooyun lunged forward, being able to hit one of the guard’s head onto the brick wall. As the other guard was distracted, Sooyun quickly ran out of the cell, dashing into the nearly dark sky.She knew she had to act fast, she could hear the guard coming and yelling, “Come back here you little girl.” Sooyun began to run as fast as possible.“Don’t just stand there, get her!” The same guard yelled pointing as Sooyun whom was now getting onto a horse. “Oh my, the Queen will have my head for this.”-------------------------------“Hey boy,” She started petting the horse’s mane, “You’ve got to help me get out of here alright.” Sooyun continued, as the horse neighed. Taking that as an acceptation, she grabbed the nearest weapon, staring at her. She wasn’t the type to enjoy learning about swords and fighting, but she had remembered when Demetrius had taught her and Baekhyun how to use a sword.Nodding in approval, she jumped onto the horse knowing she didn’t have much time. Using her legs, Sooyun squeezed the horse’s sides as it leapt forward, Sooyun’s hands instinctively grabbed onto the horse’s mane. She had to remind herself it has been years since she had rode a horse.Urging it to go faster, she stared at the large gold gates that seem to get larger as the horse moved forward, “Just a little more…” Sooyun whispered, leaning forward as she felt something go pass her, snipping some strands of her hair off.“Hurry up and close the gates! She’s getting away!” One man yelled, waving for the two men by the gates. Centimeters away from the gates, Sooyun could hear startle cries and angry shouts as she disappeared off into the Dark Forest.-------------------------------Julius, whom had been a tad too late, hurried into the cell Sooyun was placed in, horror entering his body. The Queen would be furious. He rushed outside, yelling over the loud commotions, “Where is she?”One guard anxiously walked over, falling into his knees, “Forgive me Julius! It is all my fault, if I wasn’t so foolish, she wouldn’t have escaped!”“Which way did she go off to?” He questioned, ignoring the guard’s pleas and cries. Another guard step up, the man near the gates, “She ran off into the Dark Forest sir.”His lips formed into a smirk, ‘I don’t think the Queen might need to worry about anything much longer.’ Julius thought, picking the guard on the ground up, “Clean yourself up you idiot, look at that blood stain.” Julius shoved the guard into another, walking away. The Dark Forest was one of the most dangerous places on this land. Stretching almost over six miles long, four miles wide, it held dark creatures, madness, and the unknown. Julius knew Sooyun could not last a day in the forest without going mad.The smirked Julius had worn did not faded. Pointing at one of his fellow imperial swordsman he cleared his throat, “Inform the Queen of where Sooyun had run off too.” The guard wildly stared at Julius, frighten, “M-May you r-repeat that again, sir?”“Go inform the Queen that Sooyun had run off into the Dark Forest, now!”-------------------------------Ahhh, yes and so finally, Sooyun escapes.
