Letters to you Read Online
One (1/1)
I close my eyes and see your young self, smiling at me like you always did. You took my hand and led me to the garden, the secret one that nobody else knew of. We watched the birds fly, and stared at the beautiful flowers that adorned the garden. But as soon as I opened my eyes, you were gone once again.Luhan sighed as he sat at the dorm's couch, solving his rubix cube rather aimlessly. Today was a free day, and he should've been out, enjoying this fine, cloudy weather, but he was waiting for something today. In truth, he was waiting for it the entire week, but he was almost certain that it would arrive today. His sixth sense just told him so, and he figured it won't hurt to follow it. Glancing at the mail slot once in a while, he took another look at the clock that hung up the wall, just above the television in front of him. Tick Tock. A final turn, and the colors were all matched up again. He let out a little whoop of triumph that he always did whenever he solved it, and deftly placed it on the coffee table with a glance on the wall clock. 11:48.It was only three minutes since he last checked the clock, and obviously, he was growing quite restless. With a little grumble, he picked up his rubix cube and headed to his room. He needed something to distract him and pass time, or heaven knows that he'll start being bored to death. It was nine minutes past five in the afternoon when Lu Han was roused from his sleep by a sharp rap of his shared room. Slightly set off at his sleep being disturbed, he glared at the innocent wooden door for a short moment before rubbing his eyes softly to ward the sleepiness away. "I'm coming!" He called out to the person who was behind his door, and quickly made his way to open it. He was soon greeted to the sight of Tao, who looked slightly tired. "Zi Tao didi. Did you need something?" He asked, wondering how many hours he had spent sleeping. The last thing he knew was that he was using his phone, looking through his gallery in search of something. He didn't even notice that he fell asleep. "Lu Han gege, we were just wondering if you wanted to eat something. We brought some fried rice. Kyungsoo-hyung said that the kitchen looked untouched, so you might've not eaten yet." the younger replied, apparently glad that Lu Han finally responded. "Thanks for the concern, didi. You guys guessed right, I haven't eaten yet." He grinned rather sheepishly, with an equal amount of gratefulness at him. With a responding nod, Tao simply said before he headed to his own room, "It's on the kitchen counter, ge. Oh, and there was a letter from you in the mail slot today. I think Wu Fan ge placed it near your food as well."Lu Han blinked unresponsively at the younger member's retreating back for a while before a grin suddenly made its way to his face. It was here, it was finally here. He rushed to the kitchen, barely able to greet his other members who crowded on the living room watching the television. There, sitting plainly on the counter, was the telltale of a beige envelope with a small detail of flowery prints as borders. Opting for a smile rather than his wide grin, he took the box of food and the letter to the dining table before setting himself down the chair. He then carefully opened the envelope, trying not to ruin it, before fishing out the piece of paper that it held within. Removing it from its fold, he started reading while eating at the same time.19th March, 2012Dear Deerie,Have you been well since my last letter? I'm sorry f this is shorter than it usually is, but my schedule's kinda packed and there's so much to do. We're moving again. Papa still hasn't told us where his next project will be, but I bet we'll be back in Asia. How was your training? I'm concerned about your sleeping habits, since they weren't good in the first place, and it might get worse. Don't work yourself too hard, a'ight? I have people watching you. Haha, I sounded like some creep. Anyways, Chi Chi want's me to tell you that she thinks your voice is angelic. She forced me to write it down here. That meanie. Have you heard from Auntie lately? I hope being a trainee doesn't inhibit you to having regular contact to China. Auntie would go ballistic. This time of the year, we stayed at San Francisco, California in the States. As usual, I met some new friends. Their names are Hilary and Alex. The duo acts like twins, even though they aren't, and are big fans of KPOP. I better keep quiet about you, mhm? I attached a picture of the three of us at the Palace of Fine Arts. It's really beautiful. I hope you could come see it with me someday. Well, my letter unfortunately ends here. Lots of stuff to pack, lots of tears to shed. I'll be waiting for your email! Chi Chi sends her love.SaereeFinishing the rest of his meal, Lu Han quickly threw its container in the trash bin before hurrying back to his room to read the letter once more, this time privately. Sitting down his bed, he leaned on his pillow before re-reading the letter, taking in all the small details. No matter how many times he told her, Saeree just won't send him a reply through email, opting for the traditional handwritten letter. She also didn't want to give him her cellphone number, saying that it would make him miss her more. And he did. Folding the letter, he looked at the envelope once more to see the picture she talked about in the letter. It was a photo of three girls, Saeree in the middle, and her two friends beside her. They sported wide smiles, looking at the structures. Lu Han looked at it for a long time. It was ten long years since they last saw one another, let alone hear each other's voice. Suddenly, he heard his phone sound, telling him that he had a new notification. Blinking, he opened it and found that he had one new email. Opening the application as he thought of various people who could've sent him an email, his eyes widened when he saw who sent it.Choi SaereeHe bolted up from his position so sudden, he swore he heard his bedframe shake. For a moment, he stared at the screen incredulously before coming to his senses enough to open it. A single sentence was all it contained, but it imprinted itself quite clearly in his head.1 April 2012 (17:30:26) Han, I'm in Seoul.
