TAT-TOO [Oh Look! We Match]

Baekhyun already regretted his decision. Maybe he should have thought twice before defying his mother’s word (she didn’t seem very happy from across the phone) and still making his way to possibly the shadiest tattoo parlour in the entirety of Seoul. He justified that he was at least old enough to get a tattoo and responsible enough as he lived on his own.

His best friend Kyungsoo and his boyfriend, Kai had promised that this place wasn’t nearly as dingy or depressing as it looked. Baekhyun sighed for the umpteenth time- maybe Kyungsoo was getting him back for the time he forced him and Kris together at an office party- Kyungsoo hated Kris’s height.

But he had to assume Kyungsoo and Kai were working in his best interests. After all, two days ago, he was the one who brought it up...

“Hey Kyung!” Baekhyun called and the slightly shorter male walked into the office, leaning against the doorframe casually;

“Hey Baek, what do you want?” he said, looking at him with pretty doe eyes.

“I was wondering, Kai is like an arts major right?”

Kyungsoo’s eyes narrowed “Yeah, and?”

“Don’t get so defensive, I don’t want your boy-toy” Baekhyun sing-songed with a grin and Kyungsoo’s face flushed;

“Oh my god! He is not my boy-“

The only thing that stopped his rage and soothed him was the arms of his boyfriend, Kai, looping around his waist, head dropping onto Kyungsoo’s shoulder.

“What are you guys arguing about?” he smiled at Baekhyun and the other grinned back,

“Well, I want to get a tattoo and I’m feeling spontaneous- you look like you’d know a good place I could go?” Baekhyun asked, hopefully.

Kai looked thoughtful for a moment before his eyes lit up in sudden epiphany “I know the perfect place!” he gushed, moving quickly to grab a sheet of paper and pen, jotting the address down swiftly. “He’s my friend, I swear he’s like the nicest guy ever- and he’s a crazy artist, we met in art school anyway, I’m sure you’d like it”

Baekhyun nodded “I’ll give it a try, thanks Kai”

And that’s why Baekhyun was sitting here currently waiting.

Outside, the sky was already darkening, bulky clouds looming overhead and rain drizzling slightly down the window pane. The streets in the thin alley way were lined with rickety wooden porches which did not help in keeping anyone dry and looked as if they would blow away in a gust of wind. The smoke lay thick in the air, the haze of the neon light flashing Phoenix through the mist was barely gaugeable but Baekhyun finally made it.

Ruffling his (newly dyed) black hair, Baekhyun leaned back in the waiting chair. The door had been open when he arrived and he wondered which sane person would leave their door open in weather like this. Maybe they just forgot. If Baekhyun was to be completely honest with himself, he didn’t know what to expect- maybe some greasy old man, or maybe some tattoo clad woman- but all he knew was he was genuinely scared and maybe a little, tiny bit excited.

In his head, he recited the exact details of the tattoo he wanted. He wanted a scorpion, along the side of his body, its tail curling into the small of his back and dipping a little further down. He wanted the pincer-claws to be splayed across his ribcage and the entire creature to be clad in a black ink shell.
