Fallin Into Place (1/1)

Yun Ho immediately backed away from the window when he saw Jae Joong looking at his direction. He was in Bedford since a week ago, refusing to talk to anyone. He filed an indefinite leave from the office since he cannot function well and he knew he had someone like Sung Min to take over his duties for the time being. Kang In had to drive him from the city 'cause he won't touch his car. It's just that everything in New York City would remind him of their sweet times together and he could barely take it. He had nowhere to go but home. He smiled in irony despite of himself. It's not as if their house wouldn't remind him of Jae Joong. His room alone was not helping him a bit.He walked towards the fire place and held a framed photo. It was taken in their ranch in Gotham North. He and Jae Joong was atop Fireball, his favorite stallion, smiling brightly. It was their first out of town trip--alone. It wasn't really far from where they live, just a couple of hours in fact but it was very memorable. It was his high school graduation and Jae Joong gave himself to him that day--as a gift. He was the happiest man alive. But he never thought that something so perfect could hurt anyone this much. Then his gaze fell onto the painting just above his bed. It was oil on canvass using Jae Joong's very own fingers. It was an abstract representation in dark, vivid hues. Jae Joong would paint only if he was sad, the very reason that prompted him to change majors in college. He intially enrolled as Painting major but since he couldn't paint unless he was not happy, the dean advised him to take Advertising instead. The very painting was made when Yun Ho was sent by Wharton to a conference in London for two weeks. Jae Joong was devastated that he can't go with him and after a week, he FedEx-ed him the painting. Resulting to him taking the next flight home, leaving the conference unfinished. He left the lavish confines of his room and padded downstairs. He found himself face to face with a large mirror that hung in the staircase landing. He looked like a rogue. He can barely recognize his face because of the whiskers and there were dark circles around his eyes. He sighed heavily before dragging himself to the kitchen to get something to eat.And unfortunately, his mother was there."Good morning." She greeted weakly, more of a habit than an intention. She was staring blankly at the snow-covered backyard that was visible from the window above the sink."Morning Mom." He opened the fridge and took the milk carton out. He opened cupboards to look for cereal. That's the heaviest food his stomach could take for now. The whole place smelled of Jae Joong's favorite apple pie and his mother was kind enough not to mention anything. She handed him a bowl absently and he ate Lucky Charms in silence as she busied herself by taking out the dishes from the washer. For sometime, he can only hear clinking of dishes and cutlery until. . ."J-Jae Joong was h-here." He chose not to say anything and Bae Kyung didn't force him to. She might have noticed her son flinching by the mere mention of the name. "I'm. . .I'm kind of worried about him.""And you're not worried about me." It was a statement, his voice was laced with sarcasm. He put the spoon down and threw the rest of the food in the sink."Yun Ho-ah, you have us.""Oh? Do I?" He snorted and left her in the kitchen. He sat at the great room--a bad decision--as he was now directly opposite the Christmas tree. And under the tree were the gifts from Jae Joong. Out of curiosity, he sat on the carpet beside the tree like any kid would in a Christmas morning. He didn't see anything for himself though."Looking for something?" He almost jumped up because of fright."You. Scared. Me." He said accusingly."I can see that." Jessica retorted. She then placed wrapped boxes under the tree. Jessica was studying in Princeton and was home for the holidays. Not really good for them both. "Don't worry, even if Jae Joong-oppa didn't have anything for you, I got you one.""Well, thanks a lot!" He got up from the floor to go to his room, flummoxed and annoyed. He was at the base of the grand staircase when Jessica spoke again."Jae Joong-oppa has nowhere to go every Christmas, right? I am sure Jun Su-oppa have plans."****************************************************************************"What do you mean 'you're not going'?" Yoo Chun was dubious, his hands balled into fists. He was almost sure he heard it incorrectly until Jun Su spoke again."I have to. . .take care of an. . .old case. I'll see if I can finish it before Christmas and I'll just--""But we've been planning this since September!" Jun Su could swear it was the first time he saw his boyfriend so mad that he was really scared. Normally, he would call the shots and Yoo Chun was happy to indulge him most of the time but now, he knew he's in trouble."C-Chunnie--I--""Know what, just forget it! It doesn't matter anymore." His family was expecting him and Jun Su. It was so unlike his boyfriend to be ditching him for work. Family's ALWAYS first for Jun Su."W-Wha--" Yoo Chun was already out the door, slamming it shut so loud that he won't be surprised if he'll turn deaf.Jun Su found Yoo Chun in the midst of his wardrobe with their suitcases sprawled all over the bed when he arrived from the office. Yoo Chun was excited, ecstatic even. And he had to ruin it for him. He felt like crying. But he had to do it so he could save their relationship. His excuse wasn't really an excuse. It's true that he'll be working on an old case.He decided to reopen Lia Barrera's case. He wanted to do everything within his power to make amends. He'd been calling Miami these past few days and he was desperate to look for anything that would give him hope. And he can't do it with Yoo Chun around. He would have to explain it to him later. And he hoped it wouldn't be too late.*****************************************************************************Eun Hyuk stood in the front of a closed door, shivering in the cold. He was having second thoughts on ringing the doorbell. Maybe not just second but third and fourth. He heaved a deep sigh before finally pressing it and soon enough, he heard a shuffling sound on the other side before the door opened up.He was staring back at the man he had loved for years and he was at a loss for words. The owner of the house let him in wordlessly, his face void of any emotion."What are you doing here, Lee Eun Hyuk?" He asked, foregoing the pleasantries. Eun Hyuk was taken aback by the straightforward question. He was expecting a polite 'how are you?', to say the least, from the man that once declared his undying love for him."I. . .left you messages." He was sure he didn't changed numbers, his voicemail confirmed it."I got them." He sat on the armchair opposite his and crossed his arms in front of his chest. "Was I suppose to return them?" He scoffed mockingly. Eun Hyuk balked. He was mad. That's all that he can see on his face, on his eyes. The eyes that once contained unconditional adulation for him."S-Sorry!" He stood abruptly, hands trembling and fat tears threatening to fall. "I shouldn't have come. It was a mistake." He fumbling for the doorknob when. . ."There. Leave again. That's your initial reaction to almost everything. Doesn't it get tiring?" Eun Hyuk was frozen in his spot. The words left excruciating pain on his chest. Moreso, because it was true. He had hurt him before. For being a coward and selfish. And what made him think that he will wait for him?*****************************************************************************A/N: I was hoping to update here and Winglin simultaneously but yeah, Winglin's being a real pain in the arse these days.
