Yoon Hyunae.That name appeared for the hundredth time on Jinki’s mind. “Hyunae-ah… what have you done to me?” He mumbled to himself while jotting down some lyrics from random songs.Shawty’s like a melody in my head that I can’t keep out; got me singing like “na-na-na-na” everyday, it’s like my iPod’s stuck on ReplayJinki smiled to himself as he reminisced Hyunae and himself on their first date. “Everything was romantic…,” he chuckled and continued scribbling on the piece of paper on his study table, “I’ll be the best for you, Hyunae-ah!”He clenched his fists and punched the air, bemusing another younger Lee who was passing by Jinki’s room.“Hyung, are you okay?” Taemin asked; his eyebrow rose.Jinki flashed the maknae his eye-smile – which he rarely shows – and barely mumbled a reply, since he was too busy writing on his piece of paper.It’s been quite some time since Jinki was last smitten by a girl and Hyunae was one hell of a lady. She’d ignore him on her moody days – but he’d chase after her still.Despite her coldness Jinki was always the first one to know all her happiness, and not to mention, her sadness.He was happy with that, since they were actually each other’s exes.They had broken up a few years back in junior high.Jinki smiled. No, he grinned. He started humming along to one of SHINee’s songs and focused on his piece of paper.Taemin shook his head at his hyung’s nonsensical behaviour and left him.“Suit yourself hyung…,” he mumbled as he shuffled lazily to the living room. --- Jinki packed his bag to get ready to go to campus that fine morning. He dialled Hyunae’s number to make sure she was awake and/or if she had her breakfast.“Okay, see you later Hyunae-ah,” Jinki smiled and hung up. He then shoved his cell phone into his left pocket and left for campus with both Jonghyun and Kibum.For some reason he felt both excited and anxious that day – and he didn’t know why.Was it because he was going to meet Hyunae?He meets Hyunae during lunch every day. Every single day.“Jjong, is Jinki hyung okay?”Kibum passed a note to his band-mate who was sitting next to him in the hall.“I don’t know… he’s been like that all morning.”Both Kibum and Jonghyun looked at each other and shrugged it off, trying to focus on their lecturer’s explanation.Jinki sighed, fixed his hair and packed his stuff as the lecturer was almost finished.The three of them went to a nearby café to meet Hyunae, and sure enough, there she was, at their usual seat waiting for the three.Hyunae pouted cutely as Jinki sat beside her. “Minho’s not here?” she asked.Jinki chuckled and smiled at her. “He’s at home; he hurt his ankle. Why are you looking for him anyway?”The girl beamed a bright smile at her best friend. “It just seems weird… because, you know, he’s always with you three.”Jinki sighed contently. He was almost sure Hyunae was about to say that she liked Minho.He glanced at both Jonghyun and Kibum, signalling that he was going to confess to Hyunae. The other two nodded and excused themselves, leaving Jinki alone with their friend.“Annyeong, Jonghyun oppa, Kibum oppa,” she said enthusiastically, thinking that they might have some assignments needed to be done.Once they were gone Jinki had a serious look across his face and he looked into Hyunae’s eyes critically. “Hyunae-ah…,” he started, reaching for her hand. “Let’s love again.”Straightforward Jinki was really straightforward.Hyunae was taken aback by his sudden confession. Sure, she liked him; sure, he was charming… but this was just too much.“You’ve stolen my heart yet again… just like magic,” he said as he gazed gently into her soft eyes.Hyunae sighed and took her hand away from his.“Jinki oppa… it’s not that I don’t like you; I do, but only as friends. That is, as of now. Let’s just be friends and take everything slowly, arasso? Besides, there’s no need to rush things; we’re still studying for our diploma,” she explained with a weak smile on her face.She really didn’t want to break his heart.Jinki smiled at her.“That’s okay Hyunae-ah,” he started, “let’s work hard and be great friends, okay?”Since then Jinki had changed to cover up his sadness.No one knew that Hyunae had actually rejected Jinki’s confession… not even his closest band-mate-slash-friend-slash-love-advisor Kim Jonghyun. [[A/N]]I'm sorry it's so short...
